I think they intended the laser to hit through enemies lining up together, not around. That's why there's no ICD.

The motion sickness warning when you start the game is completely necessary after seeing all this.

Neuvillette speedruns is going to be crazy

I'm thinking it's similar to the Barbara infinite bloom bug, where they coded Neuv's laser to force an instance of damage if an enemy enters the stream in between pulses. That way, it wouldn't feel bad if you sweep the laser into the enemy and they didnt take any damage because you got unlucky with the timing. However, side effect is generating extra damage if the enemy repeatedly exits and enters the stream. Similar effect could be achieved by waving laser back and forth on a single enemy?

While I don't think this is necessarily intended I do think it's a consequence of how his charge attack is coded, likely to aid in the consistency of his kit. It appears each tick does damage during specific frames so as long as an enemy is hit during those frames it takes that tick of damage. I doubt they'll fix it because they'd have to fundamentally alter his functionality which could be seen as a nerf.

I think it's simply that his beam has a very active hit box, per tick of damage, so this may be a hard thing to get rid of

The only way I can see them "patching" this "bug" would be to limit how fast a character can spin in place in the game, because if they start modifying how many enemies your CA can hit it would be a straight nerf

This certainly works on some mobile devices. Just crank your camera sensitivity to max and wipe your finger back and forth through whole length of your screen. It seems to be slightly less efficient, because somewhat slower spin rate, but with only little testing got something like 5 to 6 tiks to hit on Regisvine. Would love to see someone with better setup to test this

There was a similar glitch with HALO's Needler with the infinite ammo modifier active essentially the exact same method and outcome would occur plus crazy neon pink explosions everywhere.

this is a guess on how the lazor is programmed, is its a pillar hitbox that is in a always active state with a interal cooldown on if it can attack can trigger again on the enemy. fundementally if it is even close to how my guess is, these kind of things are genereally outright hard to "fix", but also isnt broken because it doesnt actually do any more damage. one that i can think of is a forced limited turn speed, ive actually seen this a few times, and this is why they tend to nerf it. but unlike all those different situations i see across games, we have vary strong grouping mechanics that lets us not only still hit everything with a higher chance of all the hits, those grouping mechanics also have debuffs and buffs with them. tbh if they do or dont fix, it wouldnt entierly matter, but still hallarious

I remember doing something similar with Nahida in one of those nightmarish Abyss cycles with consecrated beasts. I'd basically raise my hand with the mouse and smash it down while sliding it to the right... it must've looked ridiculous but it did the trick

I'd like to think this tech is not easy to patch without somehow affecting his regular gameplay (reducing ticks applied when blasting a much smaller cone of enemies) so I hope the devs don't patch this

honestly i dont think it will be patched cus its not really a game breaking thing tbh. while the tech works in the lower stages of abyss while the enemies are very weak, to run of full rotation with this tech it would be less useful than just playing him normally especially since they been adding more floors wit bosses in them

I think what is happening is that due to the extreme DPI as you spin you connect & disconnect (the laser) with the targets which I believe has no internal cool downs. Since you spin so fast the number of "ticks" (or the number of times you re-connect) the laser is so high that it ends up dealing insane amounts of damage. This is akin to action cancelling, basically disconnecting and reconnecting the laser cancels the "tick-delay" that we see otherwise while channeling continuously (normally). Glad I all-inned on my Neuvillette. Cant' wait to build him. I personally would like this to be changed so that disconnecting and reconnecting his laser should not cancel the tick delay.

Really want to test this out but me being limited on phone (for reasons) is a massive drawback like heck, I need to constantly adjust my touch or it won’t register and my character stops moving. It’s especially bad during rapid camera movement.

I think it should be left to the user to determine if they want to do that or not. As you said most normal players will not even do that at all, they will just play him as intended. Since this is a solo game with no PVP or leaderboards I think its not worth the effort to fix it. Anyway, you asked so those are my thoughts on it.

with 4.0 hoyoverse added GyroAiming feature with PS4 and PS5 controllers. It's not super sensitive as a 16k dpi on the mouse. But it's still quite good. I use gyro aiming with nahida's skill and it's a game changer as a console player/ controller player.

Loool, initially missed this video, actually found this looking of thother Neuv Tech video... gotta say this is pretty good, specially with gaming mouses that let you switch DPI at the click of the button.

The only reasonable way I can see a patch fix is changing the way channeling damage works. So simply reducing the damage tick damage but making it tick more would/could solve it...think wetting someone with a hose vs dumping a bucket on them. Right now it looks like the hose is proccing buckets of water. Another way is even a timer for how long you need to stay 'locked' onto the enemy until the damage takes affect, this however could be frustrating to play as it becomes a ''channel until damage number appears then move on'' approach. Overall I am not too surprised as channeling damage is a new thing ( I wont count Hydro MC because you can see the individual droplets). They could simply play any other game for a reference though. Like channeling deals small yet fast damage and can even 'tick' for large amounts if held on the same enemy.

I don't see too much point unless you're in an incredibly niche situation, you can generally get everything in his beam with just good positioning, even ignoring the fact that after the first few tries it won't really be... fun?

To be sure i might pull for him on rerun because in rerun u know iflt safer. There is a high chance he will nerf him when his banner end because the sale will drop if they nerf him middle or few days of the end of his banner. Also i need to get the hydro archon regardless if she is op or not.

It does feel broken but it still has some limits and it's kinda like Nahida's spin marking which would be pity to lose. So I hope it either goes unfixed or Hoyo fixes it without breaknig Nahida's marking.

Wouldn't a slight, lower dpi vertical camera movement have the same (if not better) results with a way lower motion sickness? Basically moving up and down instead of left and right

my mouse has a button that can change the DPI to a crazy high number but unfortunately i won't be pulling to him. If they could make so you can only do this in over-world and not in the abyss or combat events i don't mind that much

Mobile player can switch on accelerated setting to achieve the similar result. To activate you have to hold your device with left hand and swing your thumb intensely left to right

they could increase his charge attack stance by 0.3 seconds and increase the time that the charged attack needs to deal damage by 0.3 seconds, i think that would be ok

If you look closely there is a circle on the ground when you use his charged attack. This is both the range of his laser and the range where he can pick up his balls.

If I were to guess: The water laser would normally have an ICD between each tick so long as the laser's hitbox touches the enemy's hurtbox, but normally the enemy will get hurt the first time the laser hits their bodies The increase in DPI allows for the laser to "touch" the given enemy at least twice in a *shorter time* than the normal ICD, meaning that they will take more hits than normal

Neuvy has a special ICD for each tick of his attack. I think it's 0.5 seconds after doing damage to the enemy, it can damage them again. The first time it comes into contact with an enemy, it will always do damage - similar to ICD for elemental application. Technically speaking, maxing out the DPI is probably an inefficient way to abuse this. The optimal setting would be like, 0.517 seconds (0.5 seconds+1 frame) for 360 degrees. That would make it so every enemy is being hit at the earliest possible moment for them to be hit again. They don't need to tweak elemental ICD. That would break the game. They don't even need to tweak his damage ICD, they just need to cap the speed at which the camera moves, or add a tool that detects abnormal DPI's, similar to tools that detect auto-clickers. This is an exploit. You don't ruin the game for all players because someone's exploiting it, you just target the people using it.
