At the point where you loaded the ATV into your truck, regardless of whether or not it was in 2WD or 4WD, your left tire appeared to hit your left wheel well in the bed, which then knocked you sideways a little bit. Whether or not being in 2WD brought that on... hey, you were there, I wasn't, so your call on that. I bring this up to inform others that they need to be very sure that the vehicle being loaded will fit between the wheel wells (I know, obvious, right?), but also that they need to be very careful to start out properly aligned and to STAY properly aligned between the wheel wells all the way up the ramp and into the truck, especially if clearance is tight. If not, it won't matter if you're in 2WD or 4WD! Good video, and I'm glad you didn't edit the loading part out, it may help with a future viewer's learning process!

Never ride your bike to unload. Dangerous. Just put bike in N, no parking brake, then just roll it off by pulling on rear tire tread. It's easier than you think. Be sure to grab a brake lever as she goes by. 2wd and wet tires are trickier to load for sure.

They do make trucks with an 8' box for a reason. A couple of cheap ratchet straps would hold that ramp a lot better as well.

Truck bed loading is always sketchy. Definitely helps to have the ramps held in place somehow. Checkout my channel and subscribe if you like the videos.

There is one MAJOR thing that goes against everybody when loading with that kind of ramp (I have the same ramp). Everybody knows the wheeler gets squirrelly at the top, but nobody knows the real reason why. When loading with a flat ramp, you're operating with a difference in wheel travel when the front wheels get on the vehicle. Naturally you are in 4wd, so the front wheel(s) are locked with the rear wheels. When the front wheels land on the truck surface, the "wheel travel" is now different than the back wheels on the ramp, so basically, you have NO rear traction, because the tires are spinning all same, but the back wheels have to travel a longer distance (even though they are turning, you are dragging them). You are basically on ice, and anything will cause the rear end to kick to the right or left off the ramp.

@@TheCarolinacadmanOutdoors I wasn't commenting/critiquing on your loading. I was explaining a problem that occurs when ramp loading, the physics of it, that causes the machine to go sideways. You will notice it more when wet and/or on an uneven surface. I have been loading and unloading ATV's since 1986. About once a year, that will cause me to slide off the ramp, but I'm ready for it. Don't think for a second think that you "got it down". Sh** happens. A true Statistic: You are far more likely injure yourself badly ramp loading your ATV one single time, than riding your entire life without a helmet. For safety sake, the best way is to winch it up.

@@TheCarolinacadmanOutdoors No. I didn't think that you got offended. I was just adding to it. I write application/software documentation, so I pay close attention to responses. I saw the "I don't have a problem with it now", and figured I should clarify because we all have that problem, it just doesn't present itself all the time. It's all good brotha. Stay safe. :-)

That doesn't even make sense. That's not what happened, he hit something in the back left corner of the truck stopping the front and spinning it sideways. Then when he continued it drove up on the wheel well.

tool box needs to go asap. Way too much weight on tailgate especially with him standing on the edge. Tailgate does not look even to me even without him, you can see the stress of being overweight. dangerous I always put a chunk of wood between front of bed and front tire as to not touch rear window strapping down. used to have same ramp always in 4wd. never ever came up off set like that.
