Very smart marketing strategy on their part. I first tried Oatly in a coffee shop here in NYC after the barista asked me if I wanted to try it - probably around 2017-2018. I was already drinking plant-based milks, but now I only drink oat milk and my main preference is Oatly - its far better than any of their competitors in consistency, taste, and ingredients. I recommend it to everyone. I didn't realize that was part of the company's strategy until a while after, but credit to them for hitting a bullseye on their target consumer.

Cow's milk is a good way to get a lot of the nutrition at once, so it's helped tons of people survive over the course of history and in many countries today. Yes, oat milk can be healthier, but the same cows will have to be farmed for others that need cow milk.

non-GMO is the stupidest advertising ploy ever designed. Genetically modifying plants allows for much greater, higher-quality yields with literally 0 negative consequences. GMO's are probably our best bet at tackling world hunger and GMO crops are better for the environment as they can provide the same amount of food in a smaller area than non-GMO crops. I purposefully avoid brands that advertise as being non-GMO as they are taking advantage of people's ignorance and are avoiding necessary progress.

Organically grown vegetables are not treated with insecticide and other chemicals that don’t wash off with water. I love the video:) but there is one thing that needs to be set straight. There is a HUGE misconception about dairy milk being healthy. It is not. There now is an abundance of evidence showing that the dairy industry has made absolutely fantastic advertisement, but it is NOT TRUE! It not only has been proven to for example even lower the adoption of calcium instead of providing the body with calcium, it has also been proven that the Casein, the main protein in cows milk is increasing the risk of getting cancer. Especially prostate cancer. Oat milk is 10/10 times the healthier choice. Not to mention the environmental advantages and of course the ethical side. Please do some research if you are interested and check where information comes from... I have done that and I was shocked about how clear this topic actually is.

@@atka48 I grew up in Hungary as well, used to drink over a litre every day until i was 20 with no problems. Unfortunately there is a gene responsible for lactase enzyme production which switches off after puberty in a large number of people, even in Europe. If you want to go into the details, the issue here is not lactose intolerance at birth, which really affects just a small part of the population, but lactase persistence, the continued activity of the lactase producing gene. Since most people in Europe grew up drinking milk, they dont even know that in adulthood they face these kind of problems. Many times they just say "coffee makes my stomach go bad", when in reality it is the milk not the coffee. You are right that in Europe the population is more likely to have lactase persistence, but unfortunately genetics is more complicated than saying "I am from this region so I'm fine".

The fact Oatly has manufacturers in the US now concerns me. I drank only Oatly when I lived in US for a year because I read a lot about agriculture and food standards in the US and how lax they are. In particular I read that wheat and grain products are sprayed with really harsh chemicals that are FDA approved. I remember how I came across Oatly the first time. It was through a local coffee shop in Berlin in 2016. It was hard to buy it in a shop at that time. In 2017 I could buy it in a local Bio store. Then in 2018 it disappeared from Denns Biomarkt distribution. Then for a while I could not buy it anywhere, unless i would order it online. Recently, mid 2019, they started to sell it in Rewe supermarket, but it would sell out quickly, so if you come in the end of the day, you would not get it. A few weeks ago REWE picked up on the fact that it is the most demanded plant base milk in the store, so they started to put crates of it instead of just a few packs on the shelves. While other milks are standing on the shelve just in numbers of 10-12 cartons, the Oatly barista milk stands on the floor in big carton boxes, so there is at least 50-60 cartons there.
