Let's talk about how old League of Legends champions REALLY are... MERCH: ► www.designbyhumans.com/shop/N... Links: ► / necrit94 ► / necrit94 ► / necrit94 ► / discord ► / necrit94
Aurelion has been in there since the beginning of time... I really love how massive and overpowered he is in the lore, only to be the exact opposite in the gameplay.
my guess is that the champions in the game are then at a specific point in their life, even if im the lore they continue to age as it goes forward, the chatacyer ingame is their younger self "at their prime" or something
@@lNovalandl Most likely the last time they were mentioned to the universe at large. 5 or 6 years doesn't really mean much to most of them at those ages so updating skins wouldn't even matter for another 10 years and its not like some champs don't have older skins.
@@lNovalandl Most champions have skins with different seasons / years. So its safe to assume that new updated lore will never affect ingame characters, unless its a huge plot changing event. (Eg: Darkin evolve, Jax reveals hes a troll to help defeat the void, Zyra destroys the hidden city, Lux reveals shes a mage in the kingdom, etc)
But haven't there been multiple icons of death and Kindred is just the current one? All of what I know of the previous icons of death are from LoR, so I'm not sure if it is cannon.

@Poor Quality Gameplay heimer needs to be over 800 years old to witness certain events, but the concept that time (probably) moves differently in the Yordle world is quite likely. Maybe he's 300 Yordle years old, whatever that means in terms of "human" years.
A lot of these seem to ride on characters being born at the start of a specific war but since those campaigns lasted years it could add even more variables to it. Also, who knows how old Ekko or Zilean REALLY are when you consider their time travel shenanigans and how you define age at that point (especially in Zilean's case).
@@andreadimartino3369 no because if you travel back in time you add to your age all the time you lived in the past, counting only from the birthdate is not displaying how old they truly are.
@@KajiinSkyrim zoe has travelled to different dimensions where time flows differently, so chill. Time is infinite and infinity is beyond human comprehension, so way easier to define their ages like necrit did
@@KajiinSkyrim When they were born still stands, immortal beings is virtually traveling back in time all the time but their knowledge grows and grows older. If ekko keeps traveling back in time whenever he reaches the age of 30 yo, he would never age but his wisdom, memory and soul would just keep getting older.
there is some reference to Veigars age: He considered himself a master of celestial magic when mortals started studying it - right after the Darkin War, so he should be over 1550
@@zacharyeaton8468 he is a yordle and in bundle city times runs differently so he might actually be infinite years old so speculating about yordle's ages is pointless
@@Woodland_Wizard And he specifically started by saying "Kled... He is a Yordle... He is immortal" He mentionned the first time he appears in the lore not his age.
@@Siforex2435 nope because of a few things. that's a story that lamb tells wolf (and isn't neccesarily about them as they are never mention) b) in game interactions are heavily up to debate which ones are canon and which ones aren't and c) the first line in 3rd paragraph of their bio it states "for as longs as it's ppl have known death Kindred stalks valoran. That would mean ever since mortals aka practically dince the begining of our timeline
@@LIAuNXeNON You have a point, but people know death from the very beginning. Aurelion sol can make starts, but the stars can and will die one day. No matter what you are, Kindred will come to meet you. That means she is probably there from begging, but the actual "Wolf and Lamp" are younger because of their known story. And again, because there isn't said "all living people" but "all living THINGS". (I have no idea what I was trying to say but whatever)
evelynn wasnt "born" during the rune wars, she was existed at the beginning with asol, bard ect. but only in spirit form it was after the rune wars that she took physical matter, so technically because she is an immortal spirit, she is ageless,
but was she really thinking? think about it you don't start counting the age for babies until their born when Evelynn was in spirit for she wasn't thinking or feeling anything
Explaining Sett lore: His lore doesn't mention who his father was, not even if he was a soldier or had any connection to the invasion, actually the only mention of the invasion is that the war was still recent when Sett got the fighting pits, so he was already a teenager at that point, adding the time has passed since the war we can safely assume he is in his 20s. Necrit problably stumbled in the words a bit since he had to read so much texts but yeah, there is no reason to think he is 14, sett simps do not worry.
Seems better. His mother was a long-lived race but he already looked like in his 20s for being a half-long-lived race, Remember Xayah was around 70 that looked like in her 20s.
Loved this video! Lots of details I haven't noticed before, especially for ancient champs. However, you mentioned to tell you anything you might have missed and so: Alistar is not 300 years - in the story, the line is: "Though these fierce minotaurs had protected the overland trade routes to the ancient city of Zaun for centuries..." - this is a reference to his tribe not him. But he is old for sure, over 60 I'd say. And the major thing - you always say 14 years since invasion, but remember, invasion lasted for 5 years! Taliyah is indeed roughly 24 or 25 and the quote from the Rioter makes sense - 989 was the END of the war when she meets Yasuo, so you need to add only 9 years to her 16 in the tweet. Same for Akali - sorry, but this is not set in stone, and I am not sure how to reach you to mention that. The 14 years reference in her bio talks about when she officially joined Kinkou, not when it happened. If you read a story called "The Bow, and the Kunai" she is not an official member there and it literally states that: "Akali sat up and brushed some leaves off her clothes. She was nine, three summers younger than Faey." More importantly, it says that the invaders were already rampaging Ionia for several seasons, so if we take it as, say, 2 years, then she is at most 22-23 now. Same for Irelia - she was 14 fighting at Placidium, and that was already 2 years after that war started. Again, amazing video but I was hoping you'd fix the above since your streams :(
He connected Renata and Vi for like no reason, Renata was referencing her own parents lol who were alchemists, and this a champ whose story came out weeks ago
@@MrMeddyman VI was found in a Chem lab, Renata is the only champ to have had a Chem lab, specifically one that was destroyed. It’s a weak link, yeah, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a link.
@Tesla-Effect I dont necessarily think that its all lies, ive seen him live find out the champions age by look at their bio carefully until he finally got an answer. Plus you cant really predict someones age accurately as you too would be angry at that and theres no way to pin point whats their actual age except if you talk to the authors of the story. The title said "according to the lore" you cant reason it by saying he clickbaited by telling us hes knows all their age but as what the title is saying, its their age based on their lore.
For Twitch, I suspect we saw his creation in Arcane. When we first see shimmer getting tested on a rat, that goes feral and kill another. Or at least tests that later led to the creation of Twitch. I know Arcane seems to have a different lore in some areas, but I feel it's a good starting point for a guess.
Okay, I just checked Sett's bio and its vague. It seems that Noxian fight pits may have existed in Ionia before the invasion. The main thing of note is that it talks about Ionians being conditioned for war around the same time he took control of the pits.
Her: how old are you? what month were you born in? me: Why do you want to know, so you can know my star sign? Her: no, I want to know when the invasion happened
In the Legends of Runeterra cards, Rek’Sai’s card say that she has terrorized the ancestors of shuriman people for generations; So I think we can assume she’s 400+ years old.
can we talk about how gwen was sitting there for around 1000 years unable to do anything. and then whenever live people finally show up. all she can do is just watch them walk away
and 14 is the double of 7, which in portuguese is "sete", aka, "sett", and fun fact, sett gained 7 points of life in one of these patches, just for the lols
Sett is not 14. Noxians lived in Ionia before the invasion and Noxian fighting pits were a thing in Ionia long before the invasion. His lore states that Ionians became bloodthirstier after the invasion and fighting pits became mainstream, but Sett's lore has nothing to do with the invasion except for it bringing more business to his fighting pit lol
The problem with Zoe is that she can manipulate time as the Aspect of Twilight. Its been said in her voicelines where she described how beautiful the end of the universe is or that she has been in every time and now bored. Because of that we cant really say how OLD is she, but when she WAS BORN. And even then, considering the same time travel magic, she can be born even before Darkin war. Thats a bit confusing due to overlap, she might even know Myisha
League of Legends didn't exist 1000 years ago I mean, forget that, I'm wrong. There were plenty of Pantheons back then, so of course it did. I wonder if Necrit got his autograph.
late answer but i think they were all meant to be 18-22 but since league is updating the lore for over 10 years now the character also keep getting older with more stories.
On Veigar, he's actually referenced as having been imprisoned by Mordekaiser, and that he was curious about the renewal of the celestial magic after the Darkin War, so he's at least 550+ years, though how much older is anybody's guess.
the thing that points out that Sett is over 14 in his lore and shows that the fight pits were there before hand is the fact that the reference to fresh noxian soldiers arriving on the shore is after the father had already left and it was going to be Setts first fight, the other line being that Sett was already in control of the fighting pit by the time 'Ionians, who had recently been conditioned for war'. Those lines there prove that the pits existed before the invasion and prove that Sett was born before the invasion making him over 14 in lore.
For Vi and Jinx you are forgetting that Renatas parents died in their home, and Vi was found in an bassinet, so unless you want to conclude that Renate has two much younger sisters, that is never hinted at, its a different event. For Nasus and Renekton you have to add another 300 years to them as Nasus himself said "I was honored to fight at Setaka's side for three centuries."
So you estimate Viego was 37 when the ruination happened and he acquired his immortal ghost form? From the way he acted and how he looks; I would assume he was in his twenties
Amumu is older than Azir. If I remember correctly, It is referenced in the Shurima Ark that he is a long forgotten former Prince/Child of Shurima who eventually got cursed to be the sad mummy.
I must admit that bothered me a little. Yordle 1: "Yordles are immortal". Yordle 2: "approximately this many years old". Yordle 3: "Yordles are immortal". Like, it doesn't matter if they can die or not, they came to be at a certain point.
Some yordles can probably have their age of their current forms/existences tied to events. Kled-Noxus, Veigar-Mord, Vex-Veigo/Ruination. But a lot of them don't have personality that parody events which is more or less the modern yordle theming. Trist, Teemo, Lulu. Although We do know that Draven has met trist and lulu. We could slap 1000-2000 years to a lot of them probably.
Necrit does say later than most Yordles don't even mention time in their stories and bios, so it's not that he's saying "they're immortal so don't have an age" and more like "Yordles are immortal, but I have absolutely no information about their age."
I'm curious about yordle's age: if we count every media ( including arcane), yordles probably do age but in a different pace than any other race in runaterra. Maybe time works different in bandle and the portals lead not only to places but through time as well. That could explain why some yordles are older that others but yet they seem age a little between sightings. That must be because there must be a portals to runaterra in the past, present and future at the same time.
as a french viewer i love how you articulate when you speak, making your vids tottaly understandable even without subtitles. Keep going on like that yours vidéos are really interesting.
i love the ' [...] is a yordle' every time xD .... and very nice video , i love all stuff around lore so pleaaaaase keep up with those kind of videos (:
Come on Necrit. Come on man, how you gonna do my girl Rek’Sai like that. Her LoR card descriptions are almost specifically designed to drop hints on how old she is. They describe how she stalked ancient Shurimans. We can make a pretty decent assumption she stepped into Shurima when Icathia unleashed the Void so she would be about 3000~ years old.
Two things. First, you didn't mention Rhaast's age, although, he probably would be close as the same age of Aatrox. Second, i think Diana and Leona age is wrong, because if I recall it, before Atreus became an aspect, he plead for the help of the aspect of the sun, who would be Leona, and if Leona became an aspect before Pantheon, I think they should be at the same age, or something as close as that, and if i'm not wrong, Atreus fought against Leona at his young age (i think it was mentioned in his old lore, which still canon). Also, i know this should be taken with a pinch of salt, but Leona calls the Warrior card in Legends of Runeterra as "Young Atreus", which could possibly mean she's even older than Atreus.
Legends of Runeterra is not exactly canon to the main League of Legends lore. I trust Necrit more than other sources. But he is still bound to make mistakes here and there. And he will correct himself in the near future.
@@jackielogan9104 It's just like Arcane, takes a LOT of things from the canon canon universe but somethings here and there might change like some events happened and others didn't
could he plead for help to the aspect of sun b4 leona or is there only 1 aspect of something and once it dyes its just like eh aspect of sun died well fk it
@@mihasala7283 the leader of the tribe is alway aspect of sun/moon. And we both know Leona and Diana is the NEW leaders, Leona already took her role while Atreus short story mention Lunary still struggle because the Leader still havent decided her destiny yet. So i doubt the Lunary can survive this long without their aspect. High chance Atreus asking the previous aspect of sun for help and not Leona + lor interaction are weird man, alot of plot hole in them, so we should take them as cool side lore and not actually 100% canon
I've been watching this channel since before Aurelion came out and still every single upload makes me excited to watch another great insight into the lore of Runeterra. Thanks for all the great content throughout the years, my friend!
I'm a year late so it probably already got said, but Zoe is between 1400-1550 years old since she witnessed the reign of "the big evil metal guy" (Mordekaiser)
Wait, I thought in the lore that Kayle and Morgana's parents were alive during the Rune Wars, and given that her father was a mortal, that would put them in the roughly 1000 year range.
Someone at riot games needs to watch this video, note down all the champions that Necrit memed about not having any lore and then Pin it to the team's to-do list with the note: *These Champions need Lore*
i love these kinds of videos, i would love a series of this and maybe a series of you talking about what skins would be good with other champions, for example an Ornn bee skin, call it Ornnet or a Ruination/Dragon Slayer Aurelion Sol.
As for Sticks: yeah, pretty sure he's one of the one's that's been there since the beginning. He recognizes Kindred as The Grey Man, which would imply he was around even before they split. Don't know how he stacks up to The Grey Man himself, but this would mean that Sticks is technically older than Kindred...as much as that means anything when comparing truly ageless characters. :P
A few overestimations, but it's well put together. Like: Viego should be very young king when he was alive, so I would say 1040. P&Z champions like Vi, Jinx, Ekko, Caitlin can't be older that this. Like Ekko wouldn't have his story be set in present days if he was 26(Living with parents and recent interaction with Zeri don't suggest him being over his early 20s). As a royal advisor Necrit should be older than Viego.
so because he lives with his parents he's not 20 lmao? This isn't the suburbs it's Zaun why tf would you not want to stay with your family? Plus we know Ekko isn't interested in any sort of Piltover academy
@@danielribeiro1433 funny enough that would make sense. especially since in the cinematic its shown that ekko keeps some injuries each rewind so he would also keep "aging"
one thing to note is that its likely that the champions in game may not be depicted at their curre "in lore" age, like akali may be around 19-21 in game, however she is older in the lore.
acctualy we don`t know how sett old is, he is half vastayah so he might have over 180 beacouse adult vastayah have 180+ years old but he might have 22, i don`t think he is 14
The description of Ionians war specifically stated that there was years of scouting and planning by the Noxians so it’s very likely that Sett was born long before the war and is now in his late 20s. Also I believe it was mentioned somewhere that due to mortals encroaching on Ionias Magic no Vastaya had been born in centuries so I think most of the Vastaya are quite a bit older
Gnar lived before the sisters appeared. He found a time when freljord was a colorful blooming place. And as a result, he caught the moment when Anivia froze the freljord because of the altercation with Arnie, Gnar froze along with it
Ekko was supposed to be a kid when he came out(the boy who shattered time) but with how the timeline progresses it makes sense that he is 26 now. Darius being 39-40 also makes sense since he was in his early to mid thirties in the comic. What does bother me is how they will explain champs getting older? Will they replace champs? Say Darius has a son(other than Decius) and that son takes his place when he gets older so in game there is a mini rework(or a bigger one and we get the Jr version of the old champ. The other way for them to do it is have aging champs become immortal somehow without making them a zombie like Sion( since the champ has to preserve his old identity and his power has to make sense). For example, if Darius' base form somehow became God King that would explain why he still kicks ass at 100+. I don't think they still realize that if they progress the story too much the actual game won't make sense- how is X human champ still alive and fighting?
i dont really think riot has a problem just keeping champs that died in the lore in the game since the game is everything except canon, they will probably just put their children in and the champions will just remain the same age
@@alien2mil573 for LoL ye, age is just a number, barely an inconvenience :P But for the MMO they're working on, well that's a different story ... well hopefully it's not cause we want to see the champs in the MMO, but then they kinda have to age
@@alien2mil573 i mean yeah, a lot of Champs would have no way of defeating other champs. Especially Aurelion, Fiddlesticks and Kindred. how is a regular police officer with a sniper rifle to kill DEATH, The God of Creating Stars and The Primal Demon of Fear.
Rell's bio may state that she escaped the academy at 16 and it's written in the present tense, but at what time was the bio written? I happened to check the wiki and they say that she's 16 as of 996 AN, but after all we're at 998 AN now. LMAO at Sett being 14. Definitely a JoJo character
Annie is 11 minimum. The last years of darkwill ended when swain took over. Meaning Annie was born before swain took over. and the Years statement at a bare minimum is more than one. Annie is at a minimum 11 years old.
I feel Necrit went a bit loopy doing this video, he put in so much effort but messed up so much of the time passing details. Like Annie's is 8 in game if you see her Franken Tibbers Skin bio and in lore it states that in 995 AN Tibbers awakened but the end of the Ruined King Timeline it's 998 AN... Also Seraphine is stated to be 17 years old as of 996 AN... and don't get me started on Sett XD But still a great video though and props for the amount of time and effort he put into it
@@Marf4711 Most people dismiss me when I explain that its been 3-4 years since the end of her bio where she is 8. So I don't go that far i just used the logic displayed in the video to explain her age. But yeah using the Tibber's lore you can easily prove shes at least 11. I want my Annie VGU where she doesn't act like a 4 year old. Bring back concept Annie where shes a preteen. Its not that hard. But I agree I love the vids and as he says he cant catch every bit of lore.
@@xDoomfirex You never know, with the success of Arcane they may do other series. Like imagine a show where they did a bunch of one shots and caught up with what other characters are up to then they release skins like they did with Arcane. Honestly though, they could do a series on Rell and she could run into Annie as she's escaping Noxus xD
League of legends needs a cartoon/anime maybe in Avatar style of drawing, i would definitely watch it, seeing your favorite champions in a show would be amazing, it's interesting to know all of this since i have played League since it was released and so many things have changed.
@@smashrosa8111 Still, the champions are the same. Meaning that Heimerdinger is probably 320 in the canon lore since he's around 310 in arcane, and Arcane happens before league
@@smashrosa8111 But arcane still is part of league's lore, partly. Meaning that Heimerdinger -that canonically works as a teacher in league, just like in arcane-, is probably around that age.
@@ILikeTittiesss You don't seem to understand what canon and non canon means. Arcane isn't canon so not everything is part of League's lore even if they have the same characters. Some informations like the timelines or ages might be different.
Riot Narrative Director Riot Scathlocke already stated on Sett release that he is in his late 20s (and was born more or less 30 years ago on the current timeline). Is important to note that an invasion isn't simple sending soldiers 14 ago, as we have examples occurring right now in the real world, is necessary first influence over the territory and proper setup for soldiers to come. Sett being the son of a noxian doesn't tie him to be born only after the invasion since existing noxian in Ionia before it is very feasible.
@@zacporton6000 People unironically thinking Riot will make a half human teenager looks as sexualized as Sett is the most insane mental gymnastics Ive seen
This kinda presentce and intresting problem I did't realised before. Since big events push the time line forward, champions aperence and personality would need to change.
It's always been a problem since Riot never had a timeline set in stone like this, it's the reason Taliyah is depicted as 16 in-game when she's 24 now.
I always figured that the god like beings know as the "summoners" plucked the champions out of space time to fight in the rift so it didn't really matter. Hence all the crazy wacky skins and different versions of the same people from different universes etc.
@@Krakowitchu Taliyah will probably get a skin later this year during the summer event but it's not going to be slightly older Taliyah like we saw in the cinematic, it'll be SoL style Ornn-equipped Taliyah. Riot isn't making a new skin for one of the most unpopular champs in the game because she got a bit older. Both the skins you mentioned happened because of story development, not a timeline indiscrepancy
@@MrMeddyman Of course they won't release skins just because their champs got older, they need a good reason alongside story progression. LoL is simply a battle arena game for characters of their universe with no lore implication. They can make the appearance of their champs evolve in side stories and events while releasing skins in the main game without changing a pixel on the base skins. I mean just look at Arcane skins.
So if Kalista is 1035, and the Ruination happened 1023 years ago.....Kalista was 12? So a 12 year old general in an army sailed to the Blessed Isles all by herself?
i think this is an overlooked incorrect estimated on necrit's side, since he deducted 15 years of kalistar from viego due to her being his niece, but the lore stated that they were very close in age as viego was born much later than his brother. So kalistar shouldn't be 15 year younger than viego but more like, 1 or 2 years, maybe not even that but just 6-7 months?
@@Guillotine1123 Plus depending on how big the age gap is, Kalista could be older than Viego. I’ve known people IRL who’s parents had them late in life when their older siblings already had kids of their own
Honestly believe akali's age is an oversight either by the creators or by something I'm overlooking but in KDA she's 23, her creator claimed she was 19-22, her whole attitude seems like that of a younger adult. I just don't buy she's 29 Edit: so the video is incorrect, in the bow and kunai (short story about akali) akali is 9 years old following the first few years of the invasion and shortly following zeds betrayal. She becomes shens student at 14 which has to take place after the end of the noxian war. This all means necrits age is a lot higher than whats accurate. If taking the lore into account as well as the designer of reworked akali then akali is probably 20ish
@@xD-zw6jn yeah but my point is a lot of thematics about a champ are kept in crossover universes, just with a different spin, and akali's defining characteristic in kda is that shes the younger one, but someone else already pointed out that he got the dates wrong in the video anyways so regardless she does appear to be around 20ish
One thing is confusing me. In "The Bow and the Kunai" Akali acts like a child, but if that is after Zed attack the Kinkou, then she must have, been at least 14 years old there. But she doesn't look that holding this story.
Necrit overshot Akali's age by a lot here, she suffers from the same problem as Taliyah in that the timeline would suggest she's older than she is, but not to the degree he is making it out to be.
I thought Sion's jaw was Jarvan 1's crown, which means he would've been alive during jarvan 1's reign, and old enough to kill him, making him around 130-160 years old
Well, it seems to me that in Amumu's biography they say that he lived in the early days of the Shurima empire, so from there you could give an approximate age
Atreus/Pantheon doesn't age like regular mortals due to his power. It's mentioned in his recent short story when he returns back home and meets Pyrus's 78 year old wife.
as a aspect he doesn't really age he stays the same he looked as when he was possessed by the aspect look at Zoe shes more than 1,000 years old and is still a child kinda scary how much power she has with a child mentality
For the yordles that are related to a region with no lore we can figure out the same age more or less of that region because in most cases the yordles are a representation of the region were they live
As hilarious as it would be for Sett to be 14, wars last a long time and I think there could be some wiggle room. Is the timeline saying that was the END of the Noxian Invasion? If that's the case, the war could have been happening before that. If so, it could easily have been another 4 years prior, putting Sett closer to a more realistic 18. Still, he may be younger than we realized?
