In the Turner Diaries a lot of targets of the Revolutionary Command are comunication stations and Energy Plants. The logic is that 'the average civilian will become an unwilling soldier to our insurrectionist cause when the lights go out and all its fridge food rottens. Regular citizens will swarm the streets in chaos, and the System doesnt have enough manpower to handle the societal collapse AND us Insurrectionist at the same time, theyll spread thin'

It’s refreshing when someone writing a fictional world actual understands real world dynamics and is able to incorporate them. Making the Star Wars rebels use the same tactics as modern day “terrorist” organizations makes the world feel so much more fleshed out

It was supposed to tie all allied minds to him, while bolstering their courage. Basically fearless with exact orders and his level of bloodthirstiness. All while it was making his enemies suffer the same thing as force terror. There were examples of times he knew the battle was lost, so he withdrew his support. One thing that becomes clear the more I hear/read stories about the history of the Empire (and the Star Wars galaxy as a whole), is that the editors and writers at West End Games deserve a lot of credit. They did the Star Wars roleplaying game in the 80s/90s, long before there was an Expanded Universe beyond "A Splinter in the Mind's Eye". They had a direct line to George Lucas and did so much to build the foundation of what this world/universe has become. Just a small games company--almost unknown by anyone these days--that contributed so much.

There are two aspects of the storm trooper corps that many people don't seem to be aware of. Both of these take advantage of the faceless nature of the legion and the practice of using , numbers ,not names to remove individuality. 1. Part of imperial officer training required spending time in armor as a Stormtrooper leading troops. You would never know if you were shoulder to shoulder with an Imperial officer candidate, A political officer. an intelligence agent or just the trooper in the bunk next door. The faceless nature would allow you to Commit heinous acts Under a shield of anonymity, All the while fostering the herd mentality. 2. The use of clones did not stop. In fact , it was elevated into a form of reward for those who demonstrated extreme loyalty or accomplishment that their genetic makeup would be preserved and duplicated to expand military numbers. In a combination of volunteer and conscript service, the doppelganger syndrome could be repressed since everyone wore their helmets all the time. The flash training of Spaarti clones Also allowed for the insertion of hyperloyal, zealot Super political agents authorized to perform field executions on the spot for disloyal actions, Order66 style.. When questioning or disobeying orders or imperial policy could get you gunned down on the spot it tends to stop happening. " Good soldiers follow orders "🫡 (Or Else)💀

I was expecting Vice Admiral Rampart would be more involved in trying to hunt down CF 99 in order to leave more loose ends
@kenle2
@kenle2 7 месяцев назад
First, he thought they'd died on Kamino because Crosshair lied to shield his brothers, even though he disagreed with them. Then, Rampart was more interested in covering himself within the Imperial system by hiding the fact that CF99 wasn't dead (hence killing Mayday). He probably thought the Bad Batch would either hide in the Outer Rim (which they tried to do) so that reports of their existence could be "managed" or they'd get themselves killed without being identified and save him the trouble.

The theory that Lea remembered her mother through the force . But doesn't that defeat the purpose of taking recruits before they could remember their mommies. Could Jedi in order remember parents through the force. Yes in a comic Obi wan has friend who Left to find her Father after visions. And she didn't even spend months in her womb
@lunatickoala
@lunatickoala 7 месяцев назад
Well, there's a few ways to interpret that. We could recognize that Lucas changed his mind a lot and just take everything that's said at face value and not worry too much about continuity and contradictions. Or, we could recognize that memories are actually kinda shitty and it's easy to misremember things. Uncle Owen never told Luke the truth about his real parents, so maybe Bail Organa never told Leia about her real parents either and only ever said that they died when she was very young. Memories from early childhood are going to be pretty hazy regardless. The sad woman that Leia "remembers" as a mother may have been a wet nurse or other caretaker. Or we could accept the theory that she remembered her mother through the Force which makes the Jedi act of cradle robbing even more unforgivable because that means that not only were they forcibly taking children from their families (officially, the families probably "voluntarily" gave their children to the Jedi because it'd be dangerous to not have Force training, but in most cases it definitely would have been a case of being voluntold), they were doing so under false pretenses.
@Reoh0z
@Reoh0z 7 месяцев назад
Which begs the question, does being able to do so necessarily mean they did? Perhaps Leia wanted to know her mother so much she reached out with the force to do so. But others who didn't harbour the need to think of someone they never met didn't.

After watching this video, it made the Death Star sounded even more ridiculous. If Palpatine wanted to keep the Imperial military economically satisfied while also maintaining the high morale, he needed to allow at least one big enemy to exist for real after the Clones Wars. And this is one of the reasons why the Abbasid Caliphate allowed the Roman Empire to continue to exist after they won the revolution against the Umayyad Caliphate. Only after the Abbasid Caliphate fully consolidated the administration in all of its territories during the reign of Caliph al-Mahdi when the Conquest of Tarsus happened and the annual Arab raids into Anatolia resumed in full scale. And these raids eventually taking the ritualistic form during the reign of Caliph Harun al-Rashid because it symbolized the status of the Caliph as the leader of the ummah. And that is the point, the Empire has no enemies to fight after the Clones Wars until the rebellions occurred or when they encountered the Grysk from the Unknown Regions. And by that point, it is too late for the Empire. In fact, this whole thing makes Palpatine sparing Maul in the aftermath of that duel on Mandalore to be completely all for nothing. If only he decided to use Maul and the Shadow Collective as this threat that the Empire must fight instead, the Empire might lived longer a little at least.
@kenle2
@kenle2 7 месяцев назад
He was probably planning to do just that, except the Maul loyalists saved him the trouble and broke Maul out of prison. As has been shown in the Bad Batch, Rebels and Andor there were plenty of Seperatist holdouts, "insurgents", pirates and criminal gangs operating more or less independently in the wake of the Clone Wars for years before a formal Alliance was formed. The whole approach Palpatine could use was "support a strong military so these factions can't threaten us again like the CIS did". The Death Star was created in secret so he could drop the act and say "Obey or Die" to any whole planet who might give his political opposition a base of economic power to threaten his control. Then it got blowed up and the exact reverse happened - large numbers of world declare themselves in rebellion and could, until the Impetial Navy arrived, provide exactly that support.
@lerneanlion
@lerneanlion 7 месяцев назад
@@kenle2 Correction: Maul's loyalists did not break him out. He escaped when the clone troopers were executing Order 66 on Ahsoka. However, he has Gar Saxon in his hands. But instead, he is made the Imperial Viceroy of Mandalore. What Palpatine should have done is making him the leader of his own Death Watch, have him reclaim the worlds that are part of the Mandalorian Space while the Empire dealt with the Separatist holdouts to give him enough time to gain the make the Mandalorian Space looked big. And when that happened, the remnants of the Empire's enemies will flocked to the systems ruled by the Mandalorians. And this is when the Imperial-Mandalorian War begins for real. And by that, I mean both the Imperials and the Mandalorians simply conducted raids against each other at the borders annually. This will keep the militaries of both sides satisfied with the Mandalorians finally returned to the old way while the Empire has an actualy enemy to justify its massive war machine. This, however, means no Death Star here.

It's easy for a very spoiled rich kid from Naboo with zero leadership skills, to think he could lead; that money could fix everything from buying friends, to making problems go away. This was Palpatine's long way of discovering why he Jedi, who were powerful in the Force, didn't want to govern.

@tk-6967

7:20 The Bad Batch is the only source that suggests that the clones were decommissioned so quickly, thus the speed at which it all happens cannot be true. What most likely happened is that the clones did not have the manpower to protect the Empire, thus the recruitment act creates a proper Imperial Army and fires non-essential clones, particularly in the Imperial Navy, where the poorly trained clone officers were being replaced by new recruits, possibly from defense forces and just people wanting to get a decent job. The TK Trooper program lore makes things even more illogical, so for the sake of consistency and actual common sense, non-clone stormtroopers would not be deployed significantly until late 17bby (since the 1st canon Thrawn novel clearly shows that the Empire mostly has clone personnel in the far reaches), where they would mostly be situated in the Core Worlds. By 16bby, the clones would be a rare sight due to advanced ageing and heavy casualties in the war (as stated in the Tarkin novel).

5:24 without citizen-soldiers the Republican also limited how The Clone Wars effected families outside of the war zone. This made it so poor people, like that trooper, wouldn’t have military service as an opportunity. It also disconnects the people from a far away war. It makes almost all of the war between droids and clones, seem more of an abstract idea rather than a war with actual suffering and death.

To use a modern phrase that applies so well here, Palpatine needed to "drain the swamp". He replaced a corrupt Chancellor but the people who corrupted that man never went away. The same corrupt Senators were still there and never faced any consequences for their behaviors. Frankly, he should have arrested a lot more of them after he took power. He could have held power much more easily with them out of the way. Imagine him hold power legitimately then having Sith history added to school curriculum or just using propaganda to make the Jedi look like bad guys who were religiously biased. Just come out after a few years of good times and openly state he's a Sith, have the Jedi attempt to arrest him, then have the entire military rightly destroy the Jedi. Since no one had heard of Sith before they would likely fall on Palpatine's side.

In fact, a group of imperials nostalgic for the old regime tried to crash Luke and Mara Jade's wedding, not out of malice, but because the Emperor's death left a huge hole in their hearts, so they were disposed to do anything that could help them overcome their depression.

2:22 Palpatine wasn't a strongman leader though. He very much played the role of the centrist to the point where even Padme believed that he was mostly impartial in Senate affairs. While Bail Organa and other more pacifistic Republic loyalist leaders were able to see through his act, most people genuinely thought of him as moderate from what we see. Certainly, his public appearance and the policies of his government are 2 very different things, but the point is that he was clearly not playing the role of a strongman like other dictators were. During the war he clearly acted as though he wanted peace with stuff like his Hearts and Minds campaign, and prior to the war he again played the moderate in the Separatist Crisis. After the war, he didn't need to stoke tension whatsoever because he had already done so. There were a few occasions where he did act like a strong man publicly, but the majority of his appearances, including his one in TBB, very much focused on him being a reluctant autocrat who will do what is necessary to keep the peace, which isn't a strongman leader.

How come Obi wan could take of his personal issues 🤷. if the Jedi were not supposed to have attachments yet attached to the republics the Anakin couldn't go back and free his mom because the Jedi weren't supposed to have attachments. That plot hole is inuniverse. It would set off the plot if they did go back for Smee individually but Watto already sold her to the family who freed her and he gets visions of her death years later. . I see why those working in the name of a government couldn't just go off and challenge places they had no jorestictin in. And so I could see why places they did have restrictions in leaving would be an issue.. Example of the clone wars series opening an issue. Mandolor was supposed to be neutral why Obi had come alone to rescue Saltine. . An over thrown leader. Not individual slave so more political and they could just Bought Smee out of slavery. Obi came to fight with Maul. And reason Jedi couldn't change the hole system because it would an act of war. Obi Wan's personal issues attachment was After war started anyway. That's more blind unseen how come Obi could take his personal issues in hypocrisy. That's flat out double standards

How would a war against between the vong and the borg go?
@charlestaylor253
@charlestaylor253 7 месяцев назад
The Vong would go totally ape shit against the Borg. To answer your question, my money would be with the Vong for a final victory.
@cyberstormalpha789
@cyberstormalpha789 7 месяцев назад
@@charlestaylor253I must respectfully disagree. One of the key strengths of the Vong campaign was their ability to exploit the political disunity of the New Republic. The Borg have no such disunity. Combine that with the fact that their biotechnology, while highly advanced, was still of the mundane variety, I don't think it would be the curb-stomp you suggest. I'd wager the Vong would see several early successes, but would eventually rout against an enemy that has adapted to their biological weaknesses and cannot be meaningfully infiltrated.

Borg is hard to defeat. I would imagine assimilation would cause complete reversals of initial successes if any by the Vong

You should talk about that one moment in Star Wars: Rebels where you can hear on the imperial news network that a group of rebels on a planet where routed out with a base delta 0 and peace has been restored to that world

All things considered, the Stormtrooper Initiative was really stupid. Clones were far less likely to turn.

The different between a successful despot and unsuccessful despot in that successful one know they have to earn their loyalty rather then demand it. Look at Palpatine last action as Emperor, he demanded loyalty an obedience from Luke despite having done absolutely nothing to even try and earn it, then expects loyalty and obedience from Vader right after showing effort in earning it the moment before.

Video idea for you: look at the logistics of the Star Wars universe and how inefficient it was vs our real world logistical abilities. Cargo ships are mostly small with internal storage, save Imperial cargo haulers/tugs. But most goods are unloaded by hand, whether it's human/alien/droid. I'm sure this would be a good deep dive video
@kenle2
@kenle2 7 месяцев назад
Nope. We only SEE the "small, with internal storage" vessels, because the nature of the Rebellion and the Clone Wars requires a scale that individuals can effect something without blowing up a Death Star the vast majority of the time. In supplementary materials they show container ships that have individual cargo pods BIGGER than a Star Destroyer. Attacking or defending one of those whole ships would usually be an exercise in futility, so naturally anyone who just wanted to steal or protect a certain specific valuable cargo would be concerned with smaller, specialized freighters. Diamond couriers don't ship their goods in a supetanker.
