DAVID GOGGINS! The people want to hear/see this podcast! Put aside this “complex” about Goggins and air an epic interview with one of the most disciplined individuals on earth. He lives a good portion of what you preach with owning it, discipline, how to mentally and physically challenge yourself, etc. Goggins is the reason that I changed the way I do things day to day and for the better. His story inspired me (as well as thousands of others) and changed my mindset on several topics. Goggins IS discipline. He fits right it to what you preach on certain topics. Please “like” this comment so Jocko sees this and starts to consider bringing Goggins on the cast. I will post a request for Goggins on all casts going forward. It would be an epic interview.

Physical fitness not only helps you create resiliency mentally, in order to overcome goals, but releases endorphins and certain chemicals that help with digestion, sex drive, vascular growth, and overall better physical health! Which, in turn, will help you feel better as a whole, and have alot more in reserve to face mental stressors... Ps - thx for creating those excerpt playlists! Helps us save time routing through all the interviews!

Physical fitness has been the best therapy for me. I was almost 300lbs and i lost 80lbs in about 3-4 month in the beginning of the year. Kept loosing weight progressivly each month since then. I work out, i hike, i run, i dive. I became more active, more confident, more assertive, less irritable and less susceptible to negative emotions. The physical transformation was the most visible to others but the mental transformation was the best for me. Your mind goes on journey of death and rebirth: It start with "i don't know if i can do it but i am gonna try " Then "it was hard but i did it" Then "it is no longer as hard as in the beginning" Then "I can do more " Then again "I can do even more" Then in the end it is "I can do anything !!!" Your body become a tool to navigate the world and no longer a burden. And your mind become the master of this tool. It feels so good. Healthier diet has been of great help too. I grow my own veggetables. And i am considering hunting to get my own meat by the end the year.
@jbmitchell1212
@jbmitchell1212 4 года назад
That's awesome, man. How long did you work out each day for those 3-4 months? I'm in the same physical state you were when you started. And hunting for your own meat is great. Just got my first two deer this season, and putting the meat in the freezer is a great feeling.
@emmanuelatti86
@emmanuelatti86 4 года назад
@@jbmitchell1212 I did not start with a fixed duration of exercise but rather with a quantity of exercises to accomplish: like 2 series of 10 push up and 2 series of 15 squats every morning, same thing in the evening when I get home from work. It doesn't seem like much but it was a start. I did a kind of "to do" list of exercises I had to accomplish. I crossed off each exercise I accomplished and it felt great. Actually I felt satisfied only after I crossed it off my to do list, it's a bit weird but that is how your brain works when you use a to do list I guess . I also walk or run as much as I can. Each time I have to go somewhere that is less than a 20min walk away I will walk. I walk or run up the stairs as fast as possible too(as safely as possible too) . Running or walking feels like hell when you are 300lbs, all the pain your body can feel will focus on your back.. But you have to do it. I'm not an expert or fitness coach but that is how I did it. From my failures at getting fit the previous years I understood that the secret is to set reasonably attainable but hard goals. It as to be hard enough to feel earned when you accomplish it. But it must not be too hard to the point that you will surely fail miserably and just give it all up. Yeah I look forward to begin hunting. I asked a friend and he is willing to teach me. Once I get the hang of it I will buy my own rifle.

Attitude reflects leadership. Nothing good never comes easy. Work hard give discipline and dedication to strive for what you really want. Recognize the difference between want and need. YOU put YOURSELF in YOUR position. YOU sacrificed YOUR time, sweat, tears and blood to build YOUR lifestyle. Live YOUR life Jocko. I grew up riding dirtbikes and used to feel the same way about professional Supercross racers and Freestyle riders, until I matured and realized their sacrifices in life to get where they are... given my current profession, I see and speak with citizens all the time who envy celebrities who only post these photos of the "perfect" life. What they don't see is the drug addiction, mental problems, family issues and stress that they deal with behind the scenes. In my opinion, social media and the negative way it is being utilized is the downfall of society. Keep doing you and spreading the positive vibes!

Hans I hear you man I’m in the same Boat. the couple of things I’m going to suggest to you is get on Facebook go to the market place where you can buy things. look up gym equipment people sell that shit for a couple hundred bucks and you can get yourself a fully stocked freeway set for 120 bucks, and then you could add on and get a treadmill for like 350bucks Or you can get one of those machines that you can do the chest and you can do your triceps and there you go you got your gym if you’re going to stay stuck in the house at least be productive with building ur body and ur mind. also it doesn’t have to be anything extravagant or crazy Just set yourself three goals for the morning get up early that shit sucks but you’ll feel better or to work out even if it’s just for an hour a day then bump it up two Just small things will help improve your life. Also go for a walk around your neighborhood around your city

Jocko, thanks for your honest, down to earth lessons based on your real life perspective, worldview and experiences. I am very motivated to apply the discipline that I know I possess but have not been applying. Time to take much greater control of my life and time in the crucial areas of life: family (stepping up, work (puntuality), fitness and diet (starting where I'm at with what I've got) and self-control (emotions etc.). I have been passive for too long, lulled by success based on natural talent, without the drive to push myself harder and tap into my full potential. I realize that I have been avoiding the pain/discomfort inherent in exerting more energy and effort in various areas of life. You make the grind worth it from a point of the reward of intrinsic motivation and successive successes from surpassing yourself at higher and higher levels of attainment/performance. Thanks bro, blessings and peace. I have only recently been listening to the podcast via youtube between you and Echo, it is a good mix of great advice, humour and testosterone with a large side of humility. Great show.

Jocko huge fan. I served 21 years in the Marine Corps and unfortunately had to retire after 13 surgeries and the pain that I put my body through. I told myself that when I retire I would become a fat body. However, that’s not me. When I was active, I surrounded myself with Marines that had the same goals which one of my brother in arms was (Cpl Jason Dunham). Now back what I want to get back in Marine Corps shape and practice my MMA. I do have a problem with prescription drugs and the pain that I have from head to foot. I’ve done it all when it comes to physical therapy, it would only work for a couple days. I started with 10 pushups now I’m at 50. At my peak I was a hard 290 PFT and was going to take my indoct for Recon, but a friend convinced me not to take it which I can’t regret due to the fact of my family. I believe God did not permit me to serve in combat due to the fact of my upbringing in Chicago. I don’t think I would have been a productive citizen. I did serve with V2/6, V3/2 when the snipers got caught peeing on the dead taliban. One of them has already committed suicide. I’m not sure what my question is really other than. I’ve been stuck after retiring almost a year ago. It’s been tough. I miss the Corps but at 100% permanent VA. It’s hard to lift certain things due to pain. I wish you or have the honor to speak to you because between you and Joe Rogan. You all have motivated me to get back on the Sandel and lift 15 pounds as oppose to 45. I do planks for my back and find myself doing or starting to due more exercises than lifting. I love my punching bag, but I can’t go full force. On one last note please keep what your doing because it has helped me along with my faith. Man if you ever have the time to talk. I can also tell you some of the most difficult but most noble assignments, such as the casualty officer. Which did a number mentality. But your videos like I stated before have helped me A LOT! Brother thank you and if you have time to ever talk to a Marine who life has been impacted by you can reach me at bunnytownboyz@gmail.com. But I do have questions on some of your challenges and how to overcome them with my specific injuries. I wish I can give you my number but I hope through emails, I might have the honor to speak to you. Once again thank you and God bless you and your family! R/S (Ret MSgt) Jeff Ordonez

@@paintballjunkie65, it's all ages that are sapped by media and/or social media. Good point you made though. It's the various media(s) that sap us of our valuable time!

On 4:30am schedule now. Let’s see what will happen. Regarding fitness of body and mind, I can testify that I’m using the gains I was able to make on physical fitness in the past few years to feel convinced that I can do the same to my mind. So I’m going back to school, picking up calculus and linear algebra after 20 year not touching math, learning to program and about machine learning. I’m a big fan of breaking barriers, being it with age, gender, social status, race, orientation, cultural heritage, educational level. And the beginning of the journey has to start with you: believing yourself that you can do it. In that sense, I’m living the dream right now too.

Started working out last year, but got really serious about it during our version of the COVID shutdown here and have been getting after it ever since. I had a complete turnaround form being lazy and avoiding workouts, to now wanting it. Craving it.

I love that Jocko Mentions he got lucky... We need to remember what luck is though, Luck is when PREPARATION meets OPPORTUNITY. In other words, luck does not negate the work. We still have a hand in our own progress either way. Probably feel that much more fortunate in the moment of whatever breakthrough too.

New listener as of about 8 weeks ago, former Marine of 10 years. Lost my way over the years with work, family and lack of discipline. I allowed the lies of the daily grind get me down. Today, everyday for the past 8 weeks, I get up early and get after it, I’ve not weighed myself as I no longer care about weight, but how I feel in my head and body. I get after my day from start to finish making every hour count for something leading me to freedom. Thank you. By the way, I fucking feel alive again! #getsome #disciplineequalsfreedom

I’m living in a 450 sq ft apt after divorce and my ex getting my 2800 sq ft nice home I remodeled. I’m happier than I’ve ever been getting rid of her and her daughter who just used me for an ATM and crapped all over me cheating, lying , and stealing from me. They literally nearly killed me. Get the f*ck away from people who are toxic. Run from these people!
