Are the plants in your diet impairing your ability to properly digest food?
In this video I explain how many types of plant foods contain natural digestive enzyme inhibitors, which serve the purposes of supporting plant growth and protecting from pests. However, those same enzyme inhibitors can also inhibit the enzymes which humans use to break down dietary proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. These anti-digestive factors may therefore play a significant role in gastrointestinal dysfunction.
On the other hand, meat contains certain enzymes which are activated after an animal has been slaughtered and function to break down muscle proteins. The end result is increased digestibility. So despite what many plant-based advocates would have you believe, it would appear that meat is actually PRO-digestion.
