How Plant Enzyme Inhibitors Hurt Digestion & Meat Promotes It!

Are the plants in your diet impairing your ability to properly digest food?
In this video I explain how many types of plant foods contain natural digestive enzyme inhibitors, which serve the purposes of supporting plant growth and protecting from pests. However, those same enzyme inhibitors can also inhibit the enzymes which humans use to break down dietary proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. These anti-digestive factors may therefore play a significant role in gastrointestinal dysfunction.
On the other hand, meat contains certain enzymes which are activated after an animal has been slaughtered and function to break down muscle proteins. The end result is increased digestibility. So despite what many plant-based advocates would have you believe, it would appear that meat is actually PRO-digestion.

I went vegan in 1973 when I was 17 because I was told that it was heathy. All of the athletes at that time were on a low fat high carb diet. So that what I did. Meat and eggs have cholesterol which is very bad for your health. These foods cause all kinds of diseases, cancer, heart attacks, diabetes, ect.. even destroy the earth itself with cow farts being a big factor .. By the time I was 23 I had started getting gray hair, tooth decay, arthritis plus problems like bloating, gas, sebaceous cysts. But this is what the "science" doctors said, and do to this day. You see in the recent vegan propaganda film, you know the one I am talking about. The one with the lying former California governor on there tell the how he did not need to eat all that meat and eggs or take steroids to win body building championships. I eliminated all plants and plant seeds about a year and a half ago. And now only eat animal products, butter, wild fish, eggs, red meat, home made bone broth, a little raw cheese I cant believe how much better I feel .Gained muscle lost 25 pounds of fat with out even trying. But I still am very concerned about all the farts from gassy vegans.

I tend to think there's meat and there's 'supermarket meat'. When I stopped buying meat at the supermarket and started buying it at the butchers, I had the instant realisation that the supermarket stuff I'd been eating all of my life had very little vivacity to it in comparison. If someone is coming off an 'ethical vegan' diet and they go straight to butcher's meat, they're probably going to get a bit of a shock in terms of 'feeling the power of the life force of the animal' in their food. Also, it seems to digest much quicker than the supermarket stuff. What that's down to, I don't know. I don't eat vegetables much - a natural aversion since a toddler.

I diligently followed Low Carb Keto for well over 8 years, even going Zero Carb for a while, but struggled to digest the protein all the way through, regardless of what I tried. In the end, my insulin resistance went into orbit (not even heaps of insulin could get it down. It was like the insulin was hardly working) & my stomach refused to digest meat any more. It would be stuck in there for hours & hours. I couldn’t sleep because my stomach was just churning & churning all night long. Defeated, I had no option but to go plant-based. Whilst it seemed very counterintuitive, I just juiced (mostly veg/greens with some fruit) for the first month to give my poor beleaguered digestion a break, & whilst my blood sugar stayed high for the month, around the end of the month my blood sugar dropped, my insulin sensitivity returned & I had to radically cut my insulin intake by more than half (50+ units to 20-25 or even less). That was 5 years ago. Having stood on both sides of the fence, I get very annoyed at the ‘them & us’ mentality. It’s so childish. Plants are not the enemy! For goodness sake! Both camps are on the same side! They both discouraged crap ‘Carbage’ consumption. They both promote ingestion of all-natural, unprocessed, unrefined, un-meddled with REAL food. They both want people to heal. If YOUR body heals best on a carnivore diet then that is wonderful. If MY body heals better on a plant-based regime, that’s wonderful, too. If you prefer a bit of both, you’re not letting any side down! There are those who thrive on a carnivore diet, & those who thrive on a plant-based one (when done properly, as it has to be all-natural, unrefined & unprocessed). Thousands have, & are healing on those hugely maligned plants. Oxalates may be problematic for some people, especially if they have clogged & congested livers & lymphatic systems, but they are not problematic for everyone. There are (very healthy) people who have been plant-based for decades, out there.

I think definitely yes...if you watch dr.rhonda Patrick and Jed Fahey interviews,they discussed particularly on broccoli enzyme inhibitor thats gets converted by gut bacteria to sulforaphane which is actually more useful for protective mechanisms in the body..They mentioned clearly through their published studies that cooked vegetables will reduce/remove the enzyme inhibitors and so to have them it's must to have them raw or sprouted.

I think plants supposed to be undigestable (that only bacteria could digest them). Animals predigest the plant. Then they digest what becomes the end product. So plants are good for ruminant animals, because bacteria digests it for them. This is how cow gets it's protein and short chain fatty acids and vitamins.

I know this video has been around for awhile, my first time viewing it. I really enjoyed the information. I feel I am very open minded on the subject of nutrition. I do tend to LEAN AWAY from vegan/plant based diets. Curious question, what is the role of fiber for human health? Do we need it for heart health, colon health, etc.? Does a predominantly high meat consumption provide enough or any fiber?
@gorjansimovski8596
@gorjansimovski8596 2 года назад
Fiber is the indigestible part of plants. It is only found in plants and we have little to no ability to absorb the fiber and so most of it is just shat out in the toilet. However from the time you ingest it to the time it comes out it generally causes irritation as it moves through our digestive tracks and it causes bloating and inflamation in the gut because of its indigestibility and it essentially has role in our bodily functions. IT'S USED FOR NOTHING!! Decreasing fiber will always result in better digestion. Also most of the plant's "nutrients, vitamins, minerals etc." are stored in the plant's fiber. This is one of the main reasons that even tho on paper some of the plants seem to have nutrients, it doesn't really matter in the end since we can't digest fiber.

What do you suggest we eat, since meat causes fatty liver, vegetables have oxalates, and plants ruin digestion? What do you eat?
@kimberlycooper4170
@kimberlycooper4170 4 года назад
birage, the people, who say that meat causes fatty liver, are not telling the truth. The human digestive system digests all carbohydrates, except fiber, into the monosaccharides glucose, galactose, and/or fructose. Plants contain glucose and fructose. Milk contains the disaccharide lactose which is made up of the monosaccharides glucose and galactose. When we ingest carbohydrates, all fructose and the excess glucose go straight to the liver to be metabolized into a fat called triglycerides. The liver puts the triglycerides into the blood vessels, hence "blood triglycerides". The blood triglycerides are stored in the fat cells throughout our bodies and, eventually, in our liver and other organs. Therefore, fatty liver and fatty pancreas are caused by eating too many carbs, not by eating meat. Dr. Benjamin Bikman, PhD, can give details about this.

I'm not a proponent of any particular diet, so my questions and observations are not loaded. I'm sure your analysis of plants as food is accurate within it's context. I wonder whether most of the studies are laboratory studies of isolated chemical processes and how many are looking at how food is actually processed in the body? Do the studies take into account the microbiome and how that is central to food assimilation? Also most cultures have a sophisticated range of methods for processing plants and animal products into food that employ bacteria, fungi and molds to predigest the material. Given that we can see many different dietary choices around the world, some more plant based than others and that those who stick to traditional, non-technological foods and agricultural methods, seem to maintain better health, is it not the case that a healthy diet can be found using both animal and plant sources? The main issue is that everyone has particular food needs, partly established through inheritance and that it is ignorance of one's needs along with industrial food creation that leads to nutrition problems. One example is the development of wheat strains with high levels of toxic gluten, which are then processed into "bread" using fast track machine methods to by pass the proper fermentation required for a wholesome product. No wonder our bodies get sick with such corruptions. My general point is, that I have a sense that this battle between the carnivores and the vegans, is more ideological than necessarily real.

I have also heard that soaking nuts and dehydrating them make them more easily digested, but not for me. Also remember that seeds are meant to fall on the ground, be eaten by animals, and then pooped out somewhere else. The seed needs to remain whole throughout this process in order to fulfill its purpose. So while it is causing digestion difficulties, it is also releasing substances to protect itself from your stomach acid, causing further irritation and digestion difficulties.

Aged meat can also cause more histamine reaction, yes? I have read about niacin and thiamine. I've been taking benfotiamine for several months. I recently added 100mg niacin +500mg Vit C after every meal (usually TMAD) I noticed I've stopped having strong histamine reaction (my nose no longer starts dripping with drinking bone broth), so I'm hoping this combo continues to improve my histamine issues because the last qtr beef order I had the butcher age it for only 10 days. Now that I think on this, that may be part of the reason for less histamine -- less aging. Since I prefer the taste of longer aged beef, I hope to resolve the histamine issue so my next beef order can be aged longer!

I notice this when I make bone broth or eat soup that I have cooked a long time with whole carcass that I seem to get a histamine reaction. What type of niacin are you taking? Niacinamide? Have you tried quercetin for the histamine? I have heard that helps, too. Wishing you good health!

Teresa Lee, the people, who say that meat causes fatty liver, are not telling the truth.

Teresa Lee, also, read the books: (1) "The Salt Fix" by Dr. James DiNicolantonio, PharmD. (2) "The Case Against Sugar" by Gary Taubes. The sugar corporations lied to us when they paid scientists to blame salt for the health problems that eating carbohydrates (sugar, etc.) cause.

I think that needs to be considered when bringing up their life expectancy as some kind of argument against eating meat since it should be known now that highly elevated PUFA stored in tissue is used as fuel for all inflammatory biomarkers in the body..for example, cancer is really prevalent amongst the female inuit population from the age of 30 onwards. There are social factors too of course but in relation to diseases like cancer, i would expect a diet consisting almost entirely of linoleic acid plays a major role in that

@Brian Woodrow Chinese have always eaten meat. They did however never eat meat the quantities an average american does today. They did eat very little of it and many times just for added flavor. What the China study confirms is how increased intake of meat follows increased disease amongst the population. Since most societies look towards the west and US in particular as a standard for wealth they adopt the fast food industry and a general increase in meat consumption is inevitable. And now we are not only destroying ourselves with large intake of meat but also the planet since increased meat intakes requires more land to feed the livestock. We destroy forrests for food that is not neccessary for humans to thrive.

Enzyme inhibitors are a bit of a buzz word in current Health Food circles. The idea is, that because certain foods contain "enzyme inhibitors" this automatically makes them hard to digest -- they are supposed to resist the enzymes needed to break down the nutrition in them. You are supposed to do various things to help break down the enzyme inhibitors before eating the food. Nuts and Seeds are supposed to be a big culprit, because mother nature wants seeds to store until conditions are right for germination, not rot on the forest floor. Fruits and vegetables would have much less enzyme inhibitors -- you know for yourself how these things rot out of the fridge. Fruit+Veg are basically leaves (functional parts of plants) or fruit meant to be digested by animals to transport the seeds somewhere else. Personally I think the thing about enzyme inhibitors is a load of hooey, though. Humans mostly digest our food by chemically frying it (stomach acids), which breaks down all sorts of things in our food. I really doubt these so-called digestion-inhibiting molecules can withstand it; our digestion system is designed to crack any such molecules open. And anyway, we know that people can get good quality nutrition out of eating nuts, seeds, olive oil and lots of veggies. We have the empirical proof. For that matter, many enzyme inhibitors are good things -- they include "antioxidants" and "anti-cancer drugs".

If you can go with just 2 or three bites, have this amount of either fresh, unprocessed papaya or pine apple with your meat. This will help digestion greatly. If that ain't enough, have some white (yes!) rice - almost pure starch, easy to digest. In any case, prepare your meals with LOTS of butter or lard.
