Pokimane is one of those internet people who I never know what she actually does. She just kind of seems to exist and people give her money and attention
Like Kim Kardashian, I think she just exists so little kids and teenagers can aspire to be like her. Unlike Kim Kardashian however, Pokimane isn't physically attractive or has sex appeal.
Same here, this shid just baffles me fr 😂 They've got these fans who are literally living on their last cents and still desperately donate to their favourite streamer/content creator. Basically nowadays what they do is take somebody's content, react to it and suddenly it's new content.
yeah with many trends its often kids and those simply fascinated, horny or otherwise easily lured and manipulated, in summary immature minds with no impulse control
Reporting on stupid stuff like this helps make them more famous. If she isn't saying slurs, hurting people directly, or scamming. Just stop talking about her for christ sake
That poki clip is so incredible. She sits there and watches some high quality content she didn’t produce, stuffs her face with cookies she didn’t work 2 years on b r o, getting subs for her r e a c t i o n “content”, while calling the people that caused her to be in that position broke boy idiots. I can’t anymore.
I think that's what got me the most about it, the fact that she complained about similar practices previously and then did it herself, the hypocrisy was clear for all to see.
This isn't new behavior from her. She has a notorious history of speaking down to people based on status, looks, and wealth. Despite conveying being anti-bullying she's a profound one. Often weaponizing her audience to attack people.
You could say this about all youtube content creators. They all put on a fake nice-guy attitude, most of them are probably a$$holes in real life. Ethots don't need to be nice anyway, they have a never ending stream of money from pathetic simps.
Yep, the broke boy thing she just laughs at us, for being less wealthy than her, n 10 seconds later the apology video, her voice seems so fake, acting all poor n innocent Disgusting
She was replying to a single person in chat who was complaining lmao. Dont find poki even remotely entertaining but literally a 30 second google search gets you the full context. Kinda sad this comment section is full of clowns who are invested enough to complain about some rando twitch streamer overcharging for some cookies you dont have to by, but not invested enough to actually look at the facts.
@@TourGuideForGame I assume this made sense in your head but we the normal people cant understand or relate to whats going on in pokimane's cash cow's head, sorry
@@TourGuideForGamewouldn’t have known pokimane from a can of paint before this video honestly. i have no dog in this fight. it’s an out of touch remark by her no matter what.
This genuinely pisses me off. Not only what Pokimane has done, and keeps doing, but the fact that that her fans keep trying to defend her actions to the death. Like trust me buddy, this is NOT the hill you want to die on. There are so many saints out there more deserving of your attention.
If you really want to win, don't have an opinion at all. Don't tweet or talk about them and they will fall off in relevancy sooner or later. People defend her because they want to fight people online. If no one attacks, no one defends and people lose interest in the topic overall.
And you never will. Unless her current brain switches off and is taken over by some saint, she's never going to improve. Its honestly weird to me how her friends are nothing like her as far as I know. Toast, Lily, Michael, basically most of the OTV crew are decent people. Some small controversies here and there, but nothing on her scale, and frequency.
To be fair, it's probably because nobody ever talks about when she does anything good. I don't like Pokimane or watch her content, but it's pretty clear that there's a bias since everyone loves farming for clicks whenever she does something controversial.
till we actually get true consequences for our actions on the internet there will always be content creators that pretty much farm the idea "there is no bad publicity"
Honestly agree the $7 cookies aren't the problem, it's the lies. Calling the cookies healthy, tasty.. even good for you are just.. buzz words. Saying she spent two years to make them, which at best is adding mushroom powder to an already made recipe and.. maybe finding better ingredients when they somehow have the same nutrition as the "Test batch" Saying how happy it made her that "Finally healthy snacks exist." Seriously I grew up on Snackwells thinking I wasn't hurting myself. She just proved how petty she is and.. I think we should believe her and just support someone else.
Your comment is a bit misleading (prob unintentionally). Its not $7 dollar cookies. There is no option to buy a single bag. You can only buy in packs of 4, aka $28.
Using accusations of sexism or racism as a defense mechanism against well-deserved criticism is a serious disservice to people who are legitimate victims of sexism or racism.
Almost nobody in the entire Western world faces legitimate sexism or racism nowadays, despite what the mainstream media pushes, and if they do, they're most likely going to be males or white people and the bigotry is going to be coming from those who claim to hate bigotry. The excuse is so overused, I immediately stop taking anyone seriously when they pull out the 'istaphobe' defense.
Everytime i hear someone use "incel" or "sexist" or "racist" now i have to just assume that its probably just a desperate deflection of criticism rather than a genuine critique.
@@lechant7991 it’s not. And surprise, you can be sexist AND still criticize someone. You can be sexist and still have other things you know a lot about. You can be sexist and still be kind to children. But you are sexist.
@@diane9812 your point being? I didn't say that sexism doesn't exist, but the way i often see it used, here especially, is to attack a person rather than their valid critique or try to repaint that person's criticism as sexism, used in such a way its a deflection of criticism no matter the opinions of the person stating them.
@@ehrenloudermilk1053immune to what? Being a dough bag? I've known a few that got rich after college, some changed others not so much. Regardless of the effects existence, it's not enough to use money as an excuse for being a hole.
I think a big problem with creators who become popular is they're surrounded by fans who claim everything they do is the apex of perfection, it's so easy to get wrapped up in these people, that when there is legitimate criticism thrown their way, it feels like abuse, almost torture to them.
Oh come on Larry. I know Kira is just doing it for the content but don't tell me you too didn't look further into it than a 5 second clip to get the full context and be able to tell she was joking.
@@long060 You dont need any context here. If you are a public figure you dont say shit like that when being criticized (keep in mind they were criticizing the cookies, not even her personally). And also 7$ for a bag of cookies lmao, absolutely overpriced as fuck
@@long060 It's really not fine for her to jokingly insult someone for being broke when she is living a life most people dream of. There are people struggling to buy basic food meanwhile she probably never has to worry about rent for the rest of her life. Her cookies are very overpriced and they're not anything special. They don't offer anything. The extra price is just because her name is on them and people have a right to point out that's just not worth it
Its easy, they're thirsty. At least Belle Delphine sells her bathwater to her braindead simps and has an onlyfans, but Pokimane, as far as I know, gives absolutely nothing to scratch any of their itch. These are facts.
She's hot, for many people that's enough. Maybe also people who are into Findom. However whenever I see Poke it's either some scandal or her being funny and nice, so idk
A classic example of someone living in a tiny bubble they mistakened for a universe which they ignorantly believed they were the centre of. She literally thought she was a queen & her fans are servants to abuse.
8:03 I think the internet is now making it so that any level of criticism against a woman is already sexism. This is already the case with movie characters as well, and it's stuff like this that defeats the whole purpose of wanting to empower women when it means making them immune from any level of criticism. If anything, the fact that Pokimane is being held up to the same standard as other male content creators whenever they screw up is in itself fair across all genders and is not sexist. The only time the sexism problem comes up in this is if a content creator doesn't get criticism at all, which is an impossibility.
It's amazing how hard it is to understand for these people that admitting to a mistake would bring them back down to their audience's level, and make them more relatable, ultimately probably resulting in positive PR and exposure when other people start saying "oh, she apologized, she's actually a decent human being", which would ultimately probably make her richer than her dumbass premium snack brand. ;p Ironic that she brings this back down to "these people are stupid and broke" when it's clear that it's not her wits that got her where she is now.
She really doesn't give a s*** about controversies anymore, they barely affect her income flow and when they do, it's temporary. She's been conditioned to think any conciquences can't really be that bad...
I get these half-baked, dime a dozen commentary channels talking about pokimane cookies recommended on the daily. These leeches can't do anything but suck. I don't exactly care for pokimane but the response she gets for defending her overpriced cookies badly is highly retarded.
Who even is her fanbase? I have trouble believing it's all "simps". The so-called content she produces is so dead empty that it's got to be mostly children watching her, right?
I think the term *"don't make stupid people famous"* has pretty much been non-existent nowadays Funny how money changes a person and brings out pretty much the most narcissistic side of humanity
Can't wait for the world to demand that these influencers demonstrate actual skill sets. If the lights go out, these fuckers will be the first to suffer the consequences of being objectively useless.
Damn, man. It feels like it wasn't all that long ago that you were creeping up on 100k and now you're closing in on 500k. Really happy for you and your success!
Yeah i always had a problem with this dynamic, the streamer reads chat, the chatter beleive they are actually friends, when in reality they only read the chat because it acompanyed money... this dynamic turns into the chatter setting alarm clocks to get to streams first and then donates to chat and so on and so on, the chatter actually thjnks the streamer cares about them and would refer to them as a friend if they ever met in person, when in reality they wouldnt even bat an eye in their direction If they were bleeding out and the streamer had the only phone to call ambulance.
I love how Vitamin D is the only difference between Pokimane's cookies and the other ones - it's like the manufacturers knew her fanbase doesn't get enough sunlight.
I hate the argument that if you say any thing bad about a woman it's sexism... all it does is make us look like we cant take criticism and I've only ever heard bad things about the creators Nadia listed, who ever she is, and it just make me think Pokimane and her are in the same camp as those creators.. very bad example
Its not a joke. She literally doubled down on black friday. She really means it. When her literal fan base are based off simps making her who she is today... its so out of touch.
I was proud when you got your RAID shadow legends ad. I've been around since you were under 3k subs, and I have seen the growth of your skills and channel. I am tight on dough but if I can get a KiraTV hat or shirt I'd probably get one
His first RAID ad was hilarious. It was worth watching just for the way he characterized it. (Yeah I know I sold out but they threw so much money at me here it is anyway)
Calling someone broke for not wanting to buy $28 cookies is like calling someone dumb for wanting to know how to change a tire over knowing who Pokimane is.😊
I work in the Food and Drink space, white labeling is so common, I can't divulge specifics but many products, that store brand Vs premium brand item, often come from the exact same batch of products with same formulations.
Every time you post about any of these people, I'm reminded what kind of media seemingly 99% of the population consume. And I really feel bad for those people. I'm just glad I was born in the right circumstances with enough money, privilege and intelligence to not end up having random Influencer apes shit in my brain every day. If you don't care about these celebrities, it becomes so glaringly obvious how there's nothing special about them and they were just lucky to make it in the algorithm. And there ARE special people out there that are absolutely worth paying attention to. But not those. Also @Kira, one of the less interesting videos, a bit too reactionary to current events for my taste, but I get the incentive.
Before getting to your video, my expectation was that her response will be slammed and honestly, I was and am on a bit of a split side, but you do such a good well to convey reasonable and logical statements. I fully agree that the price of the cookies doesn't matter, it's for those willing to pay for the brand, similar to every single brand name out there. Same thing for using existing products. And honestly, my opinion on what she said was "I can understand it". She was getting probably slammed a lot for something most people do and when one viewer particularly upset her (and I know this from myself, so I can kind of sympathize), she made a statement meant to insult this particular person, because you can't argue either way. But the right call was simply to either not say anything, or then to own up how it was meant as targeted insult (but shouldn't be done, less for the statement itself I'd even say, but because she is a public figure) and rest the case.
Even if it WAS a targeted insult towards one person, her showing negativity towards someone for worrying about not being able to support her or not being able to spend money on her cookies is just shitty and so out of touch. It's her responsibility not only as a influencer, but also as a person, to acknowledge and understand the people that gave her literally everything she has currently.
@@GoldenFateCoin I dont view it that way. People will try to trigger you online, it's normal. But sometimes you don't manage to look away and end up getting triggered. These people are not fans and also don't want to support, they are only there to push your buttons. So this reaction - in my eyes - was her bashing the person, by taking the attempt to trigger her and turning it into an insult about him not being able to afford the cookies. It should be noted that pretty much the entire backlash didn't come from her viewers, but from the people that made videos about it and an enraged mob. But an Edit to clarify: I still view the reaction as bad, because it can still hit normal viewers that would give the support but can't, they get hit in the crossfire. This is the part that sits wrong with me.
Yea she made it way worse then it needed to be. The health based food market is generally over priced anyway. It usually takes time for these companies to get to a place where they can reduce the cost of manufacturing to be able to survive at a lower price point.
Streaming just needs to go away it has ruined so many genres of gaming especially mmos they literally contribute nothing to the communities they exploit and they live in this bubble of entitlement. Its pretty pathetic when you think about it. The best thing that can happen is it just fades away. The bizarre twitch vulture bubble I just don't get it
Kira is right, gluten free cookies are like $12-20 a box. So while the pricing is a bit much, it is inline for an influencer branded item in that space. However, mocking your fans for criticism and calling them broke is just so stupid and shows her true color.
I can't believe everyone feels the need to cover this? Are the cookies approaching you, and spraying urine on you to force you to buy them? Are the cookies breaking into your home? By choosing to not buy the cookies, I can avoid all the harm.
A Twitch streamer did something stupid? I'M SHOCKED! This whole thing reminds me of the classic Freddie Mercury "I owe all of my success to the fans" vs Totalbiscuit "you are all replaceable" image.
Imagine if she was on kick it'd be NSFW and prob alot of unnecessary Slurs a d she'd be praised for being brave in it using such language that would land a normie in jail 🤣the world is fked sideways.
i had a little laugh over this at the time - but I cant muster up the hate others are managing theres hundreds of edgier/greedier male streamers than pokimane who wont get their own video,.
That's because the hatred is completely manufactured and nobody actually cares. Poki made a dumb comment to someone after she was harassed relentlessly for days and now she's somehow the villain.
It’s not $7 a bag though is it, if I have to buy them in a pack of four. That’s $28. YOU DONT SELL INDIVIDUAL BAGS POKIMANE. This is like when games say an item is like 475 gems but what do you know the minimum amount of gems I can buy is 500…
I dont know. I cant really blame her for debasing her masochistic fanbase. It's probably what theyre paying her for, and why theyd enjoy the cookies too.
I mean if you look at XQC's clips making that joke you can clearly see that he is joking, while Pokimane's attitude seems genuine. Idk tho I dont watch poki but thats my first impression.
"canceling" doesn't exist bud. Outside of Kevin Spacey being blacklisted for grooming, no one's career has ever ended due to cancellation. Xqc has been "cancelled" before but it will never stick. Just like this won't stick, nor will it stick with sssniperwolf.
Its an amazing world we live in where someone this shallow and showing no exceptional talent, skill, or intellect gets fabulously wealthy by sitting on camera all the time.
I just think she needs to finally decide if she's gonna be herself or this squeaky clean holier than thou person she presents herself as. This yearly viral drama with her will never stop otherwise Because I think the broke boi comment was just a joke but coming from her it was taken poorly because she presents herself in a certain light
Just the way she presented it initially it was like a bit deceptive. Said it was something they had been working hard on, "two years in the making." But instead it appears to be the exact same formula as midnight minis ... with Vitamin D added, 'white labeled' or whatever.
Kira cant support u on this one. She called 1 person a broke boy. And every other streamer insults their audience on a regular basis. I dont wanna hear this bs. Unsubscribed.
Most streamers don't insult their audience member for being unable to support them. Normally they insult them for being extremely dumb and one person isn't always one person... just because she said that to one person there are always more than one person in a similar position.
Interesting that we don't hear about the countless men who shill stuff like raid, nordvpn, and other sketchy sponsorships but when a woman does it and jokes to her fans now it's a big controversy... She did nothing wrong.
I pray I am being r/wooshed. But the main issue was she took an already existing brand, rebranded it, upcharged and did major shrinkflation, added some Vitamin D, labeled it as "Healthy" when its as unhealthy as a pack of Oreos I can buy at walmart, and have you not been around the internet along time? if you have has the name DarkSydePhill ring a bell in your hollow noggin? Insulting your Audience even if it appears as a singular attack is a MASSVIE NONO. Imagine if Penguinz0 went on a livestream and insulted his audience for some of them are not buying his comic book series GODSLAP people would unsubscribe and unfollow in masses.
@@rune4543 You really want to make it a gender issue dont you? Can you find me one sponsorship where the guys say "pay for raid you broke fuckers!". And its sponsorship. Not white labeling shit and demanding 3x times more than the original. And she jokes? If she joked she wouldnt later explain it for the next minute or so.
@@rune4543I mean… being sponsored by stuff you personally don’t like isn’t really the same thing as this but ok. Also, did you not watch the video? Kira mentions that exact argument. As I say - it’s a straw man. It’s not the same. It’s pointing out of the window and shouting “Look! A squirrel!”. It’s dumb.
This is the problem many people develop when they make money/get popular from NOT having to interact with people face to face. she lives in a bubble and is catered to by those in an echo chamber.
Kira, love your vidoes. But this is just not worth talking about. Its not insulin, its cookies. Dont buy the cookies. She was making a joke. Can we collectively see how unimportant this is and move the fuck on?
But people dont give a crap now about cookies. But about the fact that she shows how much she doesnt give a shit about her fans and calls them broke losers. Why shoudlnt we talk about it? And the same can be said about any other non crucial thing. Games cost more now? Who cares its not insulin move on. Ea is selling a dlc for £100? Its not insulin who cares!
If all her paid subs got doxed today, I would literally start cross-checking new applicants at work tomorrow. I have at least as much contempt for the people just giving her money. Probably more.
People don't like to be reminded of their financial problems. In Irish society (an in others) if you have money, or you come from money, you do not speak of it because no one wants to hear them lord it over you on what they can do and be reminded of what you can't (also probably has something to do with the issues the Irish suffered from during the 1800s with rich British landowners). Pokimane crossed that line. No one cares that she's rich and that $28 is basically nothing to her by this point, but she not only lorded over her followers that $28 wasn't all that expensive from her point of view, showing her disconnect from the reality for the majority of people, she mocked them about it. You just don't do that.
Yet again another great, well put together, thought out, informative video. Kira I must say you’re very talented at what you do and hope to keep watching videos like these for years to come
7:00 Any "public statement" made by a politician, executive, movie star, high profile criminal is NEVER written by the purported author. This is where lawyers, financial experts, and public relations folks come in and write the bland apology. What would be interesting to find out would be what PR/Management firms she uses, and who else are their clients. You see, after the first million, you are no longer an individual. You are a corporation (or LLC at least) and there are dozens of high priced consultants just banging down your door explaining how they will make you even richer. SHE IS A BRAND, not a person. So, who are the people behind the scenes...
Just look at Mr. Beast. There will ALWAYS be critics no matter what you do, even if you do for free, from your own pocket. Even if the product is absolutely perfect (cheap/free, tasty af), they will always find reasons to criticize. Love your videos. A bit late, but the clarity of the information is high and nicely packaged with only the most important pieces of information and commentary.
feels like you rambled in this one and stretched it for no reason, I was like "yeah he'll go over this then move on just wait" but then the video ended and there was nothing else.
