How Power Door Locks Work

Here's how power door locks work on your car!
Door locks keep the interior of your vehicle secure. Power operated door locks work with an actuating mechanism controlled by the car's ECU. When you press the power door lock button or your remote, a signal is sent to the lock actuator to move a lever. The lever will in turn disable the door handles, which means the door cannot be opened. Unlike a residential door lock, car door locks don't have a physical pin that blocks the door from opening, it merely disables the handles.
In this video, the power door lock is removed from the door of an Infiniti G35 and completely torn down and examined. The mechanism consist of the actuator cables, the door latch assembly, and the door lock motor and a built in protection circuit.

Thanks for a great video that I need now. The driver's door on my 93 Honda Accord EX (power locks) is locked and cannot be opened from inside or outside. I was able to get the door panel off from inside without damaging it too much, but what I'm wondering is if it is possible to reach the latch and operate it by hand to free that door. There is no real visibility, but I can feel several mechanisms back in there, but have no idea what might unlatch that door. Perhaps there is a hole or slot that provides access to that latch.

Dude, that little latch that we take for granted and couldnt give a F about, really is quite amazing. I wonder just how many designers and man hours its taken since cars were invented for something as small and complicated yet simple to evolve to what youre holding in your hand there. All the head aches gettin all those little arms just right and dealing with patent issues etc just to get it to function and then to get it to work not 50 not 80 but 100 percent every time before the age of computers. I mean shit, the same can be said for everything people use obviously, but.. idk, trip.

Now to add a sheet of tinted plexiglass (3M) into a steel frame, incorporate this mechanism... And I have a new door for my business/club/camera room🙏 Might even turn it into a sort of powered window for my bedroom. (Like a fibreglass garage door that retracts into the ground, controlled with something like a 'dim light switch') Next project is to buy a hybrid with CarPlay and include the entire electrical system; automatic bedroom windows instead of shades, secure looking, could program keys to serve as 'employee tags'; wifi, tv, radio, ios connectivity built-in, could always upgrade/modify later on to add Nebula Max and Dyson Fans... Imagine the power of that air conditioning system when I link a huge propane tank, or 4 🤔💭🧠🤯 Might even pair the keyless entry with my Nike for the sake of innovative convenience, and use the wiring for headlights to electrify that frame/handles/fence... would probably go as far as to ask a relative for the propeller from his old aircraft to make some stand out ceiling fans, using the accelerator with the door to give circulation a 'boost' when someone enters.
