For those wondering more about the benefits and purpose of tongues I will say this: in my experience, you can feel the spiritual fire of God when you pray in tongues and it cleanses you from the heaviness of the world. Drives out anxiety and depression and breaks addictions and fills you with the love of God and the joy of the Lord.

I was on a prayer drive my church held in 2020. My Mom was driving, and her and I prayed over the community as we drove by houses. I had the window down and my hand out as I prayed over homes. I was praying under my breath and all of a sudden I was getting words of knowledge to pray over a house!! Also, all of a sudden while I was praying, I heard sounds in my head, and I repeated them. Then I believe heard more and repeated them… I was praying in tongues!! ❤️ This was my first time praying in tongues that I remember. 💛 This was under my breath just after praying in my native language on a prayer drive!!! I am so happy I got it. I remember REALLY desiring to pray in tongues around 2015-2017 after learning about how powerful praying in tongues can be!! I am so happy the LORD blessed me with this good gift, and He is willing to enable all of His children to pray in tongues!!!

The key is to be led by the Spirit. I've prayed for 23 hours straight, but literally ONLY because the Lord didn't let me stop. There are times I've interceded for someone just crying for like an hour and then the Lord revealed who I was crying for. So follow God's Spirit in everything ❤

Posting this response I gave to someone here too♥️ ​​⁠you can’t logically understand spiritual things. It’s a spiritual experience. It’s a way to talk to God that the enemy cannot understand. It’s edifying to the spirit, your spirit, it connects you deeper with God. It’s hard to explain if you have experienced this beautiful way of talking to and worshipping God and it’s also hard for those who have never experienced it to understand it. Also I’ll add that it’s okay if you don’t speak or pray in tongues when talking to God. What they are referencing is for your intimate time with God. Again if you don’t speak in tongues is okay it doesn’t mean you are not saved. All I can say is ask God yourself. Sincerely ask the Holy Spirit to let you experience what it is to speak in tongues so that you will know what it is yourself instead of trying to understand someone else’s experience. You can go to HIM directly ♥️

I got the gift of tongues one night randomly as I watched a Derek Prince video. I've had a dream of praying in tongues and watching a demonic spirit disintegrate as I continued to pray. Also I've prayed for hours when in warfare and you feel the breakthrough. When I didn't know what to pray for someone ex my children...the Lord said pray for each for 5 min in the Spirit. I can then see God work in their lives. I see the prayer work even though as scripture says, my mind is unfruitful. Praise God!

Watched from the treasure coast area of FL. In regards to tongues testimony’s, there was a time when Andrew Womack needed 75 million for his ministry. He had been back and forth trying to get a loan for a year, maybe more but it always fell through. On a prayer walk it dawned on Him that God knew where the money would come from. So he prayed in tongues. Then he prayed to be able to understand it. He had the 75 million in 2 days!! For the people doubting, the Bible speaks of unknown tongue. Languages are not unknown. There’s no reason for Paul, to pray in some earthly language he doesn’t know when he is alone. If I’m bi lingual it doesn’t give my prayer more force. The Bible also speaks of tongues of angels. The devil is crafty. He would rather not have people praying perfect prayers by the Holy Spirit praying through them. So get them in the flesh trying to comprehend things of the spirit, which is not possible. There are whole ministries that were built on the gift of praying in tongues. Religion always seeks to take away the power of God. Jesus tells us not to grieve the spirit because that is not forgiven in this life or the next. Yet there are those who reject the gifts of the spirit! Rome had no problem with Jesus, religion did. Jesus moved in power. Religion did not. Jesus said”As your faith is be it unto thee.” Why not believe for everything??

I went to a Christian healing event to be baptized. As an ex witch, who loves psychology, they were doing manipulation tactics non stop. They also insisted on speaking in tongues. I reached out to the ppl who hosted the event and they said they had the same concerns. The only other time I was around Christian’s who speak in tongues, they also unfortunately were trying to coach me into doin it. I catch this stuff because I know witchcraft and manipulation tactics. Seeing so many fall into it was creepy and concerning. I’ve always said God willing, I’ll speak in tongues, im not against the possibility. I am against manipulation and unfortunately my experiences had a direct correlation. I don’t know why or how this got into my feed lol. Discern wisely y’all ❤

There is no logic in tongues, but a true gift from God, I cant do life, with my own human logic, but I have Holy Spirit who helps me with my infirmities/ weaknesses, pray the perfect will of the Father, try it you will like it 😅.

Does anyone else get attacked when praying in tongues? I never hear anyone talk about this. When i got baptized with the Holy Ghost, it was an amazing, life-changing encounter. But slowly, as years progressed, I battled with a constant attack on my mind. Especially during times of praying in tongues. I'd get such dark and intrusive images and thoughts that it would discourage me so much. And when I decided to spend a good amount of time praying in tongues I had demonic encounters. I had an experience where I'd been shut up in my room, praying in tongues, and when a relative of mine opened my door, I was hit with the one of the worst smells ever. It was strong. It filled my entire room. It was so rotten. I couldn't find a reasonable explanation for it. Another experience was also during that time that scared me so bad. I was actually sitting in my car, praying, when I saw a wispy, greyish, ghostly figure walk right by my car and up to my house. That night my bedroom had such a heavy and dark presence in it that I kept my door open. Somehow I managed to fall asleep, only to wake up to a presence, a weight, as if a person, was slowly crawling up my body. My heart was beating so fast. I didnt even know it was possible to feel your pulse in your stomach until that moment. I literally like a deer caught in a trap. I wasn't able to move for fear until i felt hot breath over my neck. When I shot up, I realized my door had also been shut. Ever since I've battled with demonic presence. And when I pray in tongues I just.. experience more stuff. But then again... if i spend a lot of time in my Bible i get attacked too now so. Sigh. IDK. Has anyone else experienced this?

Why i started to have demonic ,strange encounter while i start prayer in tongues?

Not sure if you realize many Christians claim speaking in tongues as the strange fire and believe it is demonic. I've never found proof of babel in scripture except as a bad thing. Maybe God was just equiping people to speak LANGUAGES since He just commanded them to carry the gospel into all the world. Like He undid the language confusion that He put the world in at the tower of Babel. He gave a gift to those who would go where He sent them.

I've spoken in tongues by heart, by mind, and by throat/neck area in private. All 3 ways. I really wanna share mt stories. Just been with cessationist my entire life.

Plain and simple people who follow religion will never understand praying in Holy Ghost tongues, as for in the building (church) if a message is given in Holy Ghost tongues there does have to be an interpreter, or as the bible says that person just needs to pray to God & themself. And surely everyone already knows Holy Ghost tongues that the disciples spoke in Acts was other languages, so God could bring people out of darkness into his glorious light.

every prayer is a direct communication line with God. you can't make yourself speak in tongues, it is a gift that is given by God, but not all people get it. also, being baptized in the holy spirit does not mean speaking in tongues. you are baptized by the spirit when you are born again. biblical tongues is a real language, not just gibberish non sense, you are to keep silent in in public unless there is an interpreter of your tongues. i see so many videos out there of people just openly speaking in tongues in church and that is just unbiblical. you can't "learn" how to speak in tongues, its not something you can turn on and turn off. I was told once that because I haven't spoke in tongues that I am missing out and not as close to God as someone who does. keep tongues in the correct biblical context. if God wants to give me the gift of tongues then he will, but its not necessary to my salvation.

Nobody can answer me when i ask this.... When you are supposedly praying in tongues, what are you saying? Do you know? If you don't know what you're saying then how could it logically be edifying? I’m glad that prayer is important to everyone in this video. But to say that speaking in tongues is for every single believer is just not right. To say that we should not think theologically about this is just as wrong too. Of course some of the things of God are hard to understand. But our belief and understanding of something like tongues should be based solely on scripture, not experience or what we’ve been taught by a person. The Bible is God’s word. It is the final authority for everything we should do and believe. We should seek to understand what God says about tongues in the Bible. When we rightly divide the Word of God, then we will realize that the Apostle Paul said that not everyone speaks in tongues (1 Corinthians 12:30). He said this right after he described how the body of Christ is made up of many members with different gifts and functions. What makes the body unique is the diversity of our gifting. Speaking in tongues is only 1 gift of the Spirit and it’s not for every believer. Those who have this gift should use it in their personal private prayer time, and also at church but only according to the specific instructions which Paul lays out in 1 Corinthians 14. Remember also that Paul said the Holy Spirit distributes the gifts as He wills. So, we don’t get to pick what gifts we get. We don’t get to ask God to give us a specific gift like tongues. We will receive the gifts which the Spirit sovereignly chooses to give to us. We should simply ask the Spirit to give us whatever gifts He wants us to have, and then use them. Hannah, I appreciate your love for God, your diligence to serve Him, and your desire to make an impact on the next generation. But the belief that every believer can receive the gift of tongues is very dangerous and harmful. This will create lots of hurt, confusion and discouragement in a believer’s life when they seek after this gift and don’t receive it. I had to lovingly correct this because I can’t stand to see believer’s taught something like that which will bring much discouragement to them. I want to see believers edified and encouraged by knowing that whatever gifts they have are important and they are not any less-than any other gifts.

I feel like you are giving to much power in speaking in Tongues. Paul’s whole argument is that what good is it if you can speak in Tongues and no one can understand you. What good is it for you to have any gift if you do not Love God and bring his word to people. You don’t need to speak in tongues to be saved, you don’t need to pray in tongues too have a strong pray life. If God gives you the ability use it to bring people to Jesus but do not put the power of tongues higher than Jesus.

The title of this don’t sit right with me as it seems a work of inequity. I want to tell you about JESUS. Turn from your ways, have a heart of Repentance, choose to follow him. He will change your life. He will save your soul. Make your prayer life a daily walk with Jesus. Only him, no one else, nothing you can do can change your life. It is a free gift, we have zero work in this. He sets us free, he delivers us. We choose his will over ours. You will become born again. Continue to search and examine scripture as the bereans did to see if you are indeed in the faith. God Bless.
