17 years ago Rihanna dropped her 3rd studio project; Good Girl Gone Bad, the album marked a turning point in the singer’s career; she was no longer seen as the sweet innocent girl from Barbados but an edgy seductive icon, this awarded her the opportunity to do whatever she wanted creatively to little to no career damaging backlash something most artist doesn’t get until they are way into their career which Rihanna was able to accomplish only 3 years in after her commercial debut. Honestly releasing Good Girl Gone Bad is Rihanna’s best career decision and that’s a fact.
Not only was the Bajan singer seen a seductive icon after releasing her 3 studio album but also a trend setter in music and a fashion killer; at that time artist that looked like Rihanna was only confined to R&B and Hip Hop with some leaning into Pop R&B however Ri became an unexpected genre bending artist that was also bankable; incorporating pop rock and electro dance beats with Good Girl Gone Bad
Up until that point Rihanna was only 19 so she had more maturing and her whole life ahead of her; more room to evolve. Her new bad gyal persona would evolve into a savage queen and that’s why we are gathered here today. This is How Rihanna Became a Savage Queen

This! Should be pinned! Many artist tried. The good girl gone bad and it’s kinda cringe but Rihanna just followed her guts.

I’m seeing comments saying they prefer cute and the “good girl next door” Rihanna over the savage Rihanna and I couldn’t disagree more. Even the peers she looked up too even followed her lead and created a bad girl like persona. I love savage Rihanna. It’s what truly sets her apart from the rest. Rihanna had this swag nobody else could duplicate. In the beginning of her career it was always about replicating the success of Beyonce and doing what’s already been done, but Good girl gone bad changed that Rihanna was now the person everybody wanted to become. While her peers were off creating songs about their cheating exes, she was making songs like Rude Boy. No other mainstream artist at the time could pull that song off like she did Her albums don’t like sound anything else, plus it was so refreshing to see a popstar move authentic and organically instead of calculated. Its also very telling to see how much the public took a liking to her bad girl person even more than her peers who were the “perfect girl next door”

Thank you for making a video on my QUEEN! I miss the Rated R Era, she went so hard and I listen to that album all the time, that album made me a superfan of Rihanna because of her commitment to incorporating electro and rock into her pop/r&b and hip hop. She has done so much for music and I agree that she effortlessly transitioned through all of her era/periods flawlessly and she was the artists when I was younger that made me want to pursure being a popstar as a black girl, she did it so well! I miss her so much, I hope she does come back with 2 albums and a tour and disappear again lol

This might be controversial but Rihanna is the most significant and iconic musician in Def Jam history. She has sold so much and made such a massive impact in short time compared to the other icons in music. Def Jam really done good work with her, fair play

Christina Aguilera took the same path and didn't look back. Kelly Clarkson took the safe path and levelled off quickly.

Not sure if the song Needed me is about Travis Scott, she was embarrassed and ashamed that she got with him. Travis mentions it in an article/interview.

Does anyone think we’ll see a pop star on Rihanna’s level of success and fame in the 2020s? And if so/no who do you think can potentially get the closest based on what you have seen/heard from them?

@Kiran37369
@Kiran37369 7 месяцев назад
@@harryabura7449she does not have the it factor like Rihanna. She’s a great singer, dancer, and pretty, but she seems so “cookie cutter” pop star. Nothing unique like Rihanna. She seems to follow trends rather than make it.So far, I don’t see her as dominating charts, but just like Rihanna, she can change in the future. I mean she’s very new, she still has a lot of time to build her persona and develop herself.

She is still pretty as are all women but definitely doesn’t have music of the sun positive energy anymore. It’s more like a dark moon witch energy. Im just tired of dark and gloomy themes in everything.
