The worst part for me is that they did go that extra step and made his own playable model (which can be seen in pre-release shots), animations, hairstyles, and looks for different weight levels but cut all of it and replaced it with what we got instead.
Which is nuts, considering that they had already made Johns lore accurate model. The change seems so unnecessary and odd and... FWW, I know, but, kinda ruins playing as him a bit.
I will never understand why they did that? When I first played the game I couldn't wait to play as John in the end and to actually feel like I'm playing rdr1 again but with better graphics and gameplay but instead I got a darker haired copy of Arthur😭

You really think they are going to fix anything not game breaking in story mode? Hell i can’t even play five finger fillet properly because where the time is it just says “Message” and that has been years since that bug has been there. If they won’t fix anything that small i highly doubt they will do anything with John.
@@Zantasanthey released the gta 6 trailer a year ago, they are focusing on making gta 6 now, they can’t afford to do 2 separate projects at once, especially on how on demand gta 6 is, plus they probably have a deadline too, which is why rdr2 had to cut a bunch of stuff including the entire guarma island and other gunslingers.
bring us back the golden days of rockstar where they cared about their fans and released singleplayer dlcs and didnt ruin one of their iconic protagonist

Worst thing about all of this that really bothers me is that they added the accurate cowboy outfit with the unbuttoned vest IN ONLINE MODE. Just shows rockstar can really do something to fix epilogue john but they just won't.
It does. I do It on my game. Ill try to explain the steps. 1 - leave your ps4 storage almost full, just around the size of the game without updates. For rdr2, you'll need to leave around 100gb of free storage (I only know how to do It on the ps4, you can try something similar on xbox tho). 2- start the game's download. 3- the download will fail for not enough free storage. 4- here you'll need to be fast and start the trick. Go to download management, click on "continue" to start the download and then fast while it loads the download, click on it again and pause download. 5- Go to the console connection part on configs and turn the internet connection off. 6- Go back to download management and click to continue the download. 7- Go back to configs, connection and turn on the internet connection again. 8- done, just wait the download.
What if Arthurs spirit became attached to John Marston, after his death, and serectly took over John Martsons body to live once more to get revenge on Micha and Dutch...? Just a theory... Also alot of people did enjoy play as Arthur Morgan, so maybe Rockstar decided to make John look more like Arthur, so that could be why John Martson, looks more like Arthur Morgan.
I'm not sure if this is a joke and if it is, then fair enough. But why would Arthur's spirit posses his body and then leave again just in time for RDR1's events. Also how would Rockstar know that people would enjoy playing as Arthur as much they did that they'd change John in advance to look like him. For all they know people dislike him, find him lame or are mostly apathetic and they just changed the other already beloved protagonist to look like him. Because in the now, we have people who are very annoyed that they did.
And they won’t even listen to fans at all they refuse to update the damn game they spoil gta online too much and that game is fucking 5 years older than rdr 2 they even continue to update rdr online but not story mode!

They really butchered John bc wtf was rockstar on? I remember being so excited to be playing as John but the next thing I know, he has mostly if not all of Arthur’s features just copy pasted onto him like you said. I guess the best thing for me as a console player is to make him look like John by giving him the longer length 5 hair right parted with the length 2 or 3 stubble or giving him a more defined mustache like the pencil one. If they decide to remaster the game on next gen like for the ps5, rockstar should definitely put reworking on Marston at the top of their list.

To be fair, you can’t really blame Rockstar. Whenever they have to push out a game it give the devs so little time to fix the product they reveal. I wouldn’t be surprised if John in epilogue was already broken enough. I think that’s why it feels so rushed in a sense. If rockstar had more time I’m sure we would’ve had better customization for John Marston. That’s just my opinion. Even still rockstar can drop an update fixing some of these issues or at least add his npc hair as an option.
Wait, let me see if I understand. So the model of John that we control in the epilogue, is not the same one that we see throughout the game while we control Arthur?
@@JohnMarston004 Since I saw this video, I can't help but notice it, before I practically didn't realize it, but now I do. I uses the same haircut and beard style that i used with Arthur and he looks pretty much like him but with black hair color.
@@misterx9854 Yeah its really annoying. If you're on pc you can install the mods i mentioned and if you're on console you can revert the version to 1.00 if you have the physical copy. John looks better in version 1.00
Johns my fav character i managed to make it less the same as arthur by making arthur big while making john skinny also i make arthur have middle parted short hair and give john right parted lvl 6 and arthur has diffeent beard then i give john and i dress them diffrently so with how i do it they seem diffrent but if you try they absolutely look the same and its sad least you as the player can improve it second i get a pc tho im getting mods for it

Idk i dont have a console and so i never tried it out but i do know that it works because i heard people do it for rdr2 and other games. Just look up on youtube or google im sure you will find the way

Don’t get me wrong this is lazy from rockstar as usual. But prologue was 8 years ago so things change also another thing to consider is the weight mechanic which can only rlly work on one model as it is harder to do it for 2 separate models it is lazy but it makes sense
The logic with that in 8 years things can change doesnt make sense here because why does john all of a sudden have his own hair, hair color, neck, shoulders and so on in rdr1?

He literally was ruined. Its not that only one thing about him is wrong in the epilogue. Its literally so much stuff that you cant just simply ignore them. Lets just say Rdr3 comes out and at first you play as an different character and then you play as Arthur ( which will be unlikey to happen but its just a comparison) and then all of a sudden the developers give Arthur the hair, neck, jaw, body, outfits, animations from the first main character to Arthur and Arthur looks nothing like he did in Rdr2. So many Arthur fans would be pissed off and rightly so
You do realize John is the main character of rdr1 and the series right? It’s hella disrespectful to rdr1 fans to have the person they grew up playing as look exactly like how he did in the first game as an npc but suddenly make him look exactly like the new protagonist but with broken animations and clothes. @@BeatleHarrison I'd argue even in the whole game though he's slightly better in the main story. So yes, I'd agree they "ruined" him because it was on both an appearance and characterization level.

It’s cool to play with NPC John but I feel like it’s not realistic in epilogue, I mean John is a rancher and his old clothes have nothing that looks like that.
