NB: I should have been more explicit in saying that Erasmian and restored pronunciation are not the same. I merely wanted to say that Erasmus laid the foundations for the scientific investigation of the pronunciation of Ancient Greek which led in part to the historical and philological reconstruction of the pronunciation. There are, however, many similarities between the Erasmian system and the reconstructed pronunciation.
