I stumbled on your videos today and have been delightfully bingeing on them. Thank you for content! I recently picked up a new pair and I’m considering returning them after taking them on their first full day outing. I noticed a slight misting or condensation in the bottom inside of my frames (No mask). It was a hot day but my cheeks seemed to sweat or shine more than usual. I then noticed that there was little space between my cheeks and the frame. I’ve been wearing glasses for over 27 years and it has been a while since I had this - can’t remember when, to be honest! When I lay the frames down, I noticed the sides were not straight back but more ‘pulled’out or widened. I decided to try the oversized fit, as suggested by the store and its growing on me but I’m worried that the misting will be quite annoying. I’m oval shaped and rectangular has been my go to.I like the frame but worried it’s not the right fit. Any ideas on what the misting could be?

Glad your enjoying the videos, and thank you so much for watching!!! In regards to the misting, they can be adjusted out away from the cheeks, but that does affect the optics a bit, so worth mentioning. Essentially the warm moist air builds up at the lower part of the frame without enough airflow around it to prevent it, certainly a more common problem with larger frames. Even Anti Fog products won't help with this problem as it's too much and too constant. Just hot moist air :)

Me finding out I have a low bridge two months after buying my first pair of glasses: 🤡🤡🤡 Thankfully I bought glasses with adjustable pads so I was able to crank them way out to keep them off my cheeks. But now the nose pads are super high on my nose, almost next to the corner of my eyes, and are at an unholy angle and like to dig into my nose sometimes
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 27 дней назад
Ooph!! That’s a bumpy start! 🥶🫣. You can also buy larger nose pads and install them inverted (with the fatter bit at the bottom, this is actually how pads use to be installed years ago). At least for now 😁

I ll be honest when i saw the marks after yu removed the glasses i thought that cant be comfy.Its so hard to find glasses that fit good and dont hurt your nose and the thing is that you dont know they hurt until you come back home and notice it some hours later
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 3 года назад
Exactly correct, usually you can tell in a few minutes of wear, but a good optician can spot a proper fit pretty quickly :). That one frame was AWFUL though 🤣

My glasses hurt my nose bridge, what can be the reason? It is with black plastic frames
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 4 года назад
Plastic frames dont usually have much adjustability at the bridge. Start simple though and see if either the place you got them, or a local optician is able to improve upon it for you.

I have a big ole sniffer just like you. I noticed some plastic glasses that are not adjustable at the bridge ride too high. I need to find something with a slightly wider opening to cover my Toucan Sam nose

Brother, About nose pads correct position:- If nose big, then slightly stretch yes? If nose small, then slightly close yes?
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 2 года назад
Not necessarily, no. Bringing the nose pads closer lifts the frame and widening them lowers the frame. So, if the frame is sitting too high, widen, if it's sitting to low, close. 🙂 don't worry wo much about the size of the nose as much as where the frame sits. Makes getting things right just a bit easier 😎

Should we aim to have the centre of the lens at the middle of the eye from a height point of view for varifocal ? I often people’s eye are towards the top portion of the lens. Which is better?
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 3 месяца назад
Between 3-6mm above datum is ideal in most frames… rules vary and frame shape can change that but it’s a darn good rule of thumb.

I just got 250 dollar frames that felt good in the store, but 2 hours later I had red marks on my nose. There is a little gap at the bridge like you pointed out, and when I asked about it the girl said it was normal. My last glasses had a 17mm bridge, and these are a 15mm. These were to replace the first frames I bought for them that always hurt one side of my nose, and after one too many adjustments they were wrecked and I had to get another pair. Now these hurt my nose worse. Can plastic frames be opened up a couple mms at the bridge? It feels like they would fit perfect then.
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 3 года назад
Some bridges are designed to fit that way, but there not super common, definitely possible. Don't get too caught up in the numbers, that's the distance between the lenses, unrelated to the design of the contact area to the nose in many cases.. I have 22s that fit like 14s and vice versa. Leaving marks is a pretty good clue some tweaks need to be made though, unless you have super sensitive skin, then it's more about if it causes pressure or pain (which is also super tough this time of year with allergy season in full swing). As for manipulating a bridge, it depends on the design of the frame, and it's a pretty particular skill that not everyone can grasp.

@@ThatGlassesGuy03 Thanks for the detailed and informative response. I do have allergies and a bad sinus problem and wondered if that is why lately glasses bug me now. Some days do not seem as annoying as others. The frames can use a small amount of tweaking outside that so I'll see if I can find someone with that skill.

@ThatGlassesGuy03 4 года назад
I would recommend returning where you got them for a proper adjustment to start if its a metal frame. If its plastic odds are its just a poor fit, sometimes the plastic pads can be adjusted or built up by professionals to really transform the fit, but that's a harder service to find. Also check out my series on adjustments if you're not able to get to the shop you got them from :)

Hi, what would you say my problem is when the top of the frame sits above my eyebrows? I have ordered multiple warby parker try ons with all different frame shapes and they all sit with the top of the frame above my eye brow and I think the correct fit would be the frame below my eye brow? They have an option for low bridge fit, not sure if that is something I should try..? Thanks!
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 4 года назад
It just comes down to the bridge fit of the frame. Many of their styles run narrow in the bridge and sit high like that. I see it pretty often. The solution, of course, is to find a person that knows what they're doing in fitting glasses to eliminate the back and forth and futile try ons. A great optician can get you darn close without ever seeing more than a picture. This video is actually a perfect example of that. You need something with a wider and possibly more flared bridge area :) Warby is geared at mass production and appeal, that means there will always be outliers that don't work, and that means accepting it for what it is for the price, or looking elsewhere :)

Not a fan of Warby Parker
@inquisitivenessandcontempl9918
Sometimes the top of some frames does sit above the eyebrows, depending on the style of the frame. If it's more like a sunglasses frame, especially a heavier/chunkier one, it's normal, in my opinion. If it looks good on your face that's what matters. No rules are set in stone here.

My glasses have made a bump on my nose. Is this normal?
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 3 года назад
Not "normal" but u have run into it before on occasion. Sensitive skin, heavier glasses, and a poor adjustment can all be contributing factors, or it can be a random pimple in a bad place 🤣. Once in my career I've seen that turn out to be cancer, so of course consult a dermatologist if it persists and nothing makes it better. 😁

That Glasses Guy is there a point to measure bridge line on my nose as a reference ?
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 4 года назад
Good question, but unfortunately it wouldn't be useful to do so, as every frame varies so much in splay and overall cut the numbers don't mean much. That's why I try to avoid the suggestion of bridge "size" numerically or frames at all for that matter. To put that into context, one bespoke mfg has a sample of no less than 126 ways to cut the bridge of the frame for proper fit for each width of the distance between the lenses 🤯
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 4 года назад
Now that said.. metals you can get by a little better with and a measure across the nose 5mm below the pupil center (or canthus.. the corner of your eye) would give you a little bit of guidance to follow, but still not much.
