Honestly most of sports journalism in the USA is entertainment rather than real journalism. Stephen A and Skip are the best examples of that. They know sports really well, but unfortunately everything in the US has to be entertainment for some reason, even politics. I dont respect him. I personally cannot respect a man that steps in the toes of actual analytics and makes his entire living by that. If end goal is your result, if money is the thing that drives you sure, he is succesful. By my values hes nothing more than a failure, and how he gets his "success" disgusts me. I wouldnt want that kind of success at the cost of doing it so i am free to find it repelling.

I’m an Eagles fan and I love Skip. Just as I believe every sport needs its bad guy I think the way Skip used this concept on TV was almost revolutionary. Dude is always pushing the limit of what’s acceptable, of what will get him cancelled or punched in the face. As much as people hate him I think they would miss his lunacy when he retires.

While Skip may say he doesn’t care what people think of him, you have to imagine he is very jealous of his brother, Rick. That said, dude built a career off of it, so you have to respect that.

I 1st heard of Skip Bayless when he was a writer for the San Francisco Chronicle.. He would write a piece, and sometimes people was able to leave comments under it.. I remember the Chronicle, abd the Oakland Tribune used to allow comments on sports pages
For those who have watched Skip long enough, he has always been really good when it comes to the deep topics (non-sports related). That made me realize he was mainly just playing a bad guy. Sure, the Damar Hamlin thing was a little out of line, at least the timing of it, but he had a point & didn’t mean any harm by it. Plus, a lot of the people who killed him over that, are the same ones who constantly ridiculed any type of Hamlin coverage after, which proves they only used it as an opportunity to attack Skip, so at the end of the day.. he’s probably a better human than most of his haters. I’ll always respect what he brought to sports media & his story will be told for generations. We’ll miss him when he retires

I stumbled across First Take right after Stephen came on in 2012. Watched it everyday for a while and always loved Skip. He knows what he's doing, its an act, a shtick.
I feel like the argument that if they weren’t a great athlete, they can’t critique someone’s game is just not right. You think most coaches were HOF players? No, some never even played but they know the game more than a lot of players. Anyone can know the game only some can succeed at it
