Stress is a natural emotional and physical reaction to life experiences. Everyone expresses stress time to time. When our body and mind perceives any event to be stressful, i.e., threatening it responds in a different way like there can be an increase in the stress hormones which is cortisol where body responds in a way either fright or a flight response. You might feel increase in the heart rate, bp might go up, perspiration or excessive sweating or dryness of mouth. These are the physical symptoms which one can notice. Also, there can be a change in the way we think or a fearfulness or a frightening experience might one feel. But eventually this could be get into normal. But exposure to chronic stress will lead to depression, anxiety, irritability, chronic headache, insomnia, gastric issues or digestive issues and all these things and also impacts our physical health. Often people try to manage these kind of a chronic stress either by smoking, alcohol use or overeating which usually damages their physical health also and also leads to an unhealthy way of coping. How do we prevent the stress? Take good care of your health, your body and mind. Stay positive and also practice gratitude. Be thankful to what life has given to us. Accept that any situation cannot be controlled but yes our can be controlled. Learn to have an assertive skills. Say no or yes whenever it is required. Also, stay connected with your family and friends.
