The Dude907 yeah, but without Sonia he would probs become depressed, then he would become friends with gundham, then he would become kinda even more depressed after chapter 4, then, because Kazuichi was friends with Hajime, they would become protective because his potential friend and love interest died. Alothough, I’m not going after the video here, except for the Sonia death thing, so this is what I would feel what happened.
The Sonia, Tanaka, Soda deal isn't even a love triangle. I call it a love lollipop. Sonia and Tanaka share mutual feelings, creating a circle, while Soda is the third wheel forever stuck in the outskirts, with an unreciprocated line connected to Sonia.
Fact that Sonia survived whole killing game is good twist imo. When I met her and saw that she's ultimate princess I was sure she will become a victim. Kinda reversed Rantaro situation.
@@ShinyShilla What an obvious idiot it was so freaking obvious that Celes was the culprit even my 5 year sister could immediately see her as the culprit. So I'm definitely not surprised he thought Hagakure was the culprit of chapter 3 and Souda as the victim.
@@mrmikeyrobin You... you on something? Souda was in DR2 not in the first one. My comment was made time ago, when Bijuu would blame almost always Souda over every murder or he really wanted him to BE the dead one. In a way or another. And surprise Souda never killed nor died
To be honest I expected the same thing, I really like Souda and Hajime as total bros, but I wouldn't have minded for Souda to be replace by someoen else eithier
@@frenchfries2998 I know, and thats a shame really, if someone stupid MUST survive, then let them have some growth at least! With Souda they already siad what they could have done with him, amd Hakagure...why did he survived in the first place? Why couldn't ANYONE else taje his place?
@@martinmelanopaz6925 Yeah I agree but he could've been given atleast A LITTLE character development but hey atleast his predictions are somewhat right (for example during his free time events he predicts that he and Makoto' s child would have the same mother which is what happend in the bad end and the dude predicted that there won't be any murders after celete's since sakura poisoned herself and mukuro was already dead due to those spears)
My original comment was gonna be explaining how I see Mikan's canon execution, but then I saw the Robbie Rotten meme in the video, so I'm gonna rewrite it. A better execution for Mikan would be a botched surgery. Monokuma is operating on her and hurting her in various unpleasant but ultimately non-lethal ways. We don't see the exact surgeries, but we can see her reactions and her blood splurting out. Eventually it looks like Monokuma will finally finish her off, but instead he walks away, leaving her to bleed out. A monitor flatlines in the BGM. The point is her breakdown is a lot of fun to voice
Yes! I thought the same thing! But i thought instead of blood we can see the shadow of her like, guts or smt, being pulled out behind one of those panels that are in hospitals that light can go thru. My vesion *might* be a bit too gory for danganronpa, but cartoony-like sausage link looking guts coulndt be that bad
And now i realize the missed opportunity of developing Hiyoko and Fuyuhiko's dynamic into a bickering sibling rivalry that secretly supports the other Damn you, kodaka
Sonia is an incredibly mediocre and average character in the game, with her only defining trait being her interest in the occult. I do think her death would be more interesting to the story and for me, I think it would have some fascinating yet heartbreaking effects on Gundham. This is because losing someone he truly cares about could result in a change in his usual confident demeanor. Besides a couple moments in his Free Time Events, we usually never see Gundham show to much emotion in terms of sadness or anything like that. I think his lover dying would provide a window to have him show or attempt to be open with the group and I think that would be more fulfilling for the viewer to see more of his personality. Not to mention, this could further back up his actions in the 4th trial. At this point, he has formed a bond with the rest of the group, more so with Hajime and Kazuichi. In his fear to see the people he cares about killed again, (since he wouldn’t want to feel the same sorrow he did with Sonia) he kills Nekomaru. Sorry this was a bit long! I just thought the idea of Sonia not being a survivor would have an interesting effect on the rest of the characters.
This sounds amazing, like woah- I love how people can think about after effects of different people dying and what type of Character development some would get!
@@justinjakeashton Regardless, she was still the one to show him the most kindness and sympathy for his love of animals and his eighth-grade syndrome. That had to hurt him to some degree. Besides, I think the two liked each other even before the 4th chapter. But I do agree that they really became close in the 4th chapter. Perhaps, if Sonia truly did die in Chapter 3, then the creators could give them a closer relationship in the earlier parts of the game.
In my opinion, Sonia is not as mediocre as people make her out to be. She did have development after Gundham's death, and she tried her best to mantain Gundham's final message. It's not much, but I kind of dislike how everyone dismisses this.
Honestly? Sonia is a comfort character for me. I don’t know why it’s weird Honestly though I really enjoy your video-however I do have an idea. Everything else goes as planed as you said-Sonia goes to get the mirror and Kazuichi goes up and him being the simp he is offers to go get it for her and Sonia is like ‘Uhh Yeah,Whatever’ and he just never comes back. Sonia goes to check on him at the same time Hajime goes to see Ibuki and they find both of their bodies and then the chapter goes on as normal in cannon I would do this so not only so Hiyoko could survive and get her arc but Sonia could get an arc as well which in my opinion she needs,as I like her and wish she got more development.
@@axolotl593 Why would you need someone perfect in a killing game? I think that would only set them back. If anything, I thought she would be killed _because_ she was perfect. Obviously, the killers would go after someone who could reveal them in a class trial, and because Sonia is perfect, she would definitely be on their list.
How would I know? I’m not aeris, an opinion is an opinion, when I asked their in one of their streams of what their least favourite character was she said it was kokichi, and they said “I CANT FUCKING STAND KOKICHI.”
i just wanna say a few other things too. first of all, gundham actually doesn't hate kazuichi! in the second chapter, gundham actually tries to spend time with kazuichi and hajime when they try going to the beach. kazuichi declines because kazuichi *does* hate gundham, but it shows at least gundham doesn't hate him. also, sonia and gundhams relationship doesn't really develop until the fourth chapter, so while gundham would probably be a little sad that someone with similar interests to his died, but not completely distraught. i think because of all that, he would try to slowly comfort kazuichi, because as i said, in chapter two, he wanted to become closer to kazuichi :D
I think messy and unfinished character arcs fit the game rather well. This is a messy, brutal killing game; deaths are going to be random. Plus, it makes the character deaths that much more unpredictable and horrifying, feeding into what should be the main focus of a murder mystery game: the murder mysteries. One of the reasons why I didn't really feel anything for V3's survivors is because I knew they were gonna survive since chapter 3 or earlier. It's also why the discovery of Hiyoko's body is one of my favorite moments in the entire series. Since they were willing to kill a character with clear character development I had no idea who was next, one of the moments I truly felt afraid in this series and I loved it! Also: I think talking about a character sacrificing their own life for someone else's character development like it was necessary is rather degrading. They stop being a character and just a plot device, which is a really unhealthy way to think about humans. It legitimately sounds like a part of Nagito's philosophy. Death is something horrific and traumatizing, it should never be necessary.
i think hiyoko was missed potential, but as someone who did use that same tactic in their own fangan, i agree with this. & while me and my partner love each other a lot, i do disagree with her when they say "kazuichi earn his spot in the survivors by sonia and gundam dying" (i don't think that was exactly what she meant, since she's glad kazuichi lived either way, but still).
Aeris Akamatsu Well I feel like a charachter who is usually stupid and has not the much development survives both games. Like hagakure and souda meanwhile everyone else has development
In my opinion, I would say let Ibuki live, but start making her more dour and depressed, less quick on the draw, as an example of the Despair starting to set in. Where later she starts trying to act the same, but gets progressively quieter and slower. Any excuse for Ibuki not to die. ;-;
I disagree, the second trial didn’t need to be a Double Murder. People say Ibuki would mess with the tone, but, THE TONE WAS DUMB REGARDLESS! They let Yasuhiro and Genocide Jill survive, who the fuck cares about the tone?!
@@MotorcycleCheetah well yasuhiro was ironically very important for foreshadowing the twist of trial 4 and figuring out red herrings, while jill sirved a narrative purpose of being able to remember past memories tohko didn't have acces to
You didn't really touch on this, but, as a sonia fan, I think your proposal for sonia being a second victim could expand more on her character and the impact her death would have on the rest of the cast too. After twogami establishes himself as leader in ch.1, sonia has a scene where she says shes not really interested in leading. However after twogamis death we do see her trying to bring the class together, both with the beach party and helping hiyoko with her kimono. If the writers put in some more scenes like that with sonia they could have easily established her as the leader figure that encouraged everyone to get along after twogami died, which is fitting considering her talent. If sonia died in chapter 3, the only other character whos a good leader would be nekomaru probably, and during the ch.3 trial everyone would probably panic a little since they have no leader figure in their investigation. (They could have had chiaki give a shounen protag speech about finding the truth even though their unofficial leader is gone and give her more character development at least.) Then after nekomaru dies in chapter 4 the class might be more split as they have no leader figure left, which could give everyone else a chance to start being more serious. (Especially chiaki-she kind of took on a directory role in ch. 5 but with sonia right there being all DONT WORRY EVERYONE STAY CALM ABOUT THE BOMBS the effect was kind of lost) It could give sonia a more prominent role in the story and also reduce some of the goofing off in the later chapters as everyone learns to take things seriously since some of their joking around in the later trials were kind of tonally dissonant
Honestly, I could understand hyoko being murdered, espically seeing how ruthlessly she bullied Mikan, But if the writers really wanted to follow this route, it would make sence to not have Ibuki die (yet atleast) because it takes away from how emotionally jarring it could have potentially been.
I love this development for Hiyoko, but especially for Soda. If Sonia had died the things he did would have been much better. When he made the Mini Nekomaru for Akane it warmed my heart, but it just ruined it having him make it for her to impress Sonia. I love this rewrite and I throughly enjoyed the video!
I think Hiyoko would feel guilty if Sonia died and her character development would be faster She'd try to become friends with Souda or Gundam because of the thing between them
I've always been more partial to where there didnt have to be a double kill here, but I understand the reason to keep it. I still say that Sonia being the mastermind rather than Junko would have been a better use of the story for her for how much it would fit her character, but this is a fun alternate to also get Hiyoko to the finish line. Also, my main thing about the weapon is not that it is never named or shown, but more that it is never mentioned. We have to go over obvious deaths like the baseball bat to prove that is the murder weapon, but not even a mention is a bit annoying if inconsistent.
In all honesty I am a Sonia fan and even I thought she was gonna be the mastermind. I was trying to use logic to guess who was behind it. Her princess status meant she was rich and powerful so I thought her kingdom owned the island they were on. Sadly I was wrong since it was Junko but she would have been a great mastermind. It would make her obsession with serial killers even funnier honestly. Lol.
@@TimNewmanGaming Yeah, as she had the motive with the obsession with killers and Japan, so she would be in love with Junko. There is also the foreshadowing from Twogami at the start where he says that either the Togami Corporation (can't because they are dead), the Kuzuryu Clan (had it's own story arc), or Sonia's Kingdom (which is just a redherring?) could be behind it because of their influence and power. There is also the parts of her not being a major part of any trial besides sending Hiyoko to her death, the current story was perfectly lined up for it all.
@@griefingg0lem685 That's right!! I completely forgot Twogami said that. I feel like it's a good clue but not obvious and him being killed first would make his death better since the 1st death always has some value. Just like my favorite Rantaro dying in V3 cause he knew too much. I still mad about him dying first. Wish he was the main instead of Shuichi. Mainly cause he can remember near the end that he was in a previous killing game and trying to learn about the missing memories of it. That would've been crazy cause him and Tsumugi rivalry would have been insane!

Honestly tho the second games like most hated on characters who are Kazuichi, Mikan, and Akane who all grew up either poor and were all abused Edit: the reason I included Mikan but not Hiyoko was, everybody mentions the reason she was mean and cold to everybody whereas the 3 people I mentioned like 99% of the fanbase hates them, also they are the characters where they get reduced down to Pervert Stalker Guy (Kazuichi), Fanservice Nurse (Mikan), and boobies food hungry gymnast girl (Akane) nobody cares to look into their backstories or to do the free time events with them, (when I played I did almost all of mine with Akane, and I actually FINISHED Hiyokos, and I honestly think that Hiyoko dosent get as much hate as people would think compared to characters like Mikan, Kazuichi, Akane, and hell Even Mahiru and Peko.
@@fluffsynthesis Mikan and Saionji are both hated a lot. Mikan is both overhated AND overrated. I love Mikan, but a lot of people tend to get her character wrong and think she's only cute because she killed Saionji and other reasons. They're both good people and were it not for Junko I think both of them could've come to an understanding
Ok- this has nothing to do with the video although it is amazing great job Aeris- Fuyuhiko looks like a tennis ball. Like, objectively. He even has those two stripes. Meanwhile, Ryoma, the ultimate tennis player, killed a mafia with his tennis skills. Fuyuhiko is the Ultimate Yakuza, essentially the Japanese mafia. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.
I've never thought of a way to improve this chapter so I find this really interesting. Also since Gundham and Souda are my favorite characters in SDR2 I think that a little bit of extra development would add a lo to their characters and their romantic rivalry.
I always thought Hiyoko and Fuyuhiko would have a really interesting dynamic that could’ve been explored more! I’m really glad someone talked about it!
If i'm being honest, i believe Sonia should've been the blackened in chapter 4. Maybe she realized what was Gundam's plan, and she took matters into her own hands.
@@kokomhie1809 And that could even create some sort of mutal respect between the two, and *actually giving soda something to fucking do other than simp and be a creep towards Sonia*
Sonia is a gate keeper and inside the gate there's character development , she doesn't let in Kazuichi , Hiyoko and Gundham in. That's how I like to imagine lt.
Ok but imagine hajime being the culprit of chapter 5. It kinda makes sense if you think about it. Hajime throws the poison bottle and dies. Chiaki gets to live and show the others that there is hope for our future. Everyone loves Chiaki and would take her side no matter what, while they never seemed to feel the same about hajime. But also imagine the plot twist! You've played as this character for so long and then BOOM they're the killer! They would have the same execution as Chiaki and you wouldn't understand why until you watch the anime and see that hajime and Chiaki bonded over video games, leaving you with more dispair! I know everyone thinks that chapter 5 of danganronpa 2 is the best trial ever but I feel like this might be a good idea!
but it wouldn't make sense because without hajime who's basically izuru he wouldn't have woken up the dead classmates so i say it would've botched cannon too much
yeah but what about izuru kamakura and hajime being the actual master mind? i think thats a best plot twist and makes the chiaki death even more painfull. but chiaki even death help hinata and the others with hope. Sorry for my bad english...
@@kylesky74 didn't the future foundation wake up the dead classmates? I might just be really stupid but the virtual world was set up my the future foundation so wouldn't they wake the dead classmates up?
I ADORED this video and I honestly love the idea of Hiyoko surviving and a friendship between her and Fuyu! Good job with this video Aeris! Your videos are amazing and make me appreciate a lot of characters more!! oh and the "the little shit" in that list of characters made me laugh
I just dont like how in the second game 3 of the 5 survivors had somebody sacrifice themselves to save them Peko- Fuyuhiko Nekomaru- Akane Gundham- Sonia Then Hajime is the protag so he'd obviously survive Then just Kazuichi, like in the first game I'd say only 1 of the deaths was a sacrifice and it was Sakuras and it was mainly Towards Hina I'd say but affected everybody
yeah i have always found that wierd with the survivors of the second game because of the running theme of keeping a persons legacy in their memory and the souda is just there
I love Saijoni to be honest. I love a lot of hated characters and with my most favorite character being Monaca. I actually like this video It makes sense and I didn't really grow a fondness for Sonia and Ibuki so I would truly not care.
The Gundam and Souda fix really reminds me of the Taka and Mondo bond. They first hated each other, then they became best friends and as it turns out, one of them is a killer.
I feel if both were survive, what could happen is a combination of the two ideas you had in section 3. Maybe they have a falling out and Fuyuhiko almost kills Hiyoko, but then she is able to come to her senses and apologize, and fuyuhiko would be able to accept her apology, and then they grow into a mutual “frenemies” dynamic. Also I feel fuyuhiko’s development would be more focused on opening up just to put difference in Hiyoko’s development. Great video
Not knowing what the murder weapon for Hiyoko was isn't the problem exactly, it's the fact that it was never brought up in the class trial at all. Heck, if they had brought it up, they might've deduced that it was Mikan even quicker since there was nothing at the crime scene that would be able to slit Hiyoko's throat and Mikan would be the only one who's profession/ultimate requires a sharp object (besides maybe Fuyukiko i guess?) But yeah not discovering an answer is fine, but not asking in the first place is not fine for a class trial
honestly? i think it's more realistic than the class being able to remember absolutely every detail, and with the trick mikan set up, that was probably what everyone wanted to solve. if it was crucial evidence, it could've caused her to go free - but that's kind of what culprits are trying to do?
I lost my shit on "were probably on a minecraft server together at that point", now my headcanon that after every sdr2 character dies they join the big minecraft server in the sky 💖
I can only imagine that everyone’s always yelling over something stupid and Mondo, Fuyuhiko, and Miu keep getting kicked out for cussing out the other characters. edit: Nagito and Kokichi keep griefing the map and getting kicked from the server.
Fun Chpater 3 Fact: Celestia is the only killer to have actually made a plan on killing both of her Victims, while Korekyio and Mikan only planned on killing one person (Ibuki, and whoever went into do the ritual, also 1 of Kork and Mikans victims are both voiced by Julie Ann Taylor, its Ibuki and Tenko)
My rewrite is based on an idea brought up in V3’s chapter 3; a double murder where the killers are different. Mikan would still kill Ibuki, but when she tries to kill Hyoko, Fuyo would kill Mikan (his motive was to protect Hyoko and repay his debt to her). During the trial, Hyoko would try to defend Fuyo and he would still be declared the blackened (before his execution, he would tell Hyoko not to be afraid to reach out, even though she couldn’t protect him during the trial). This does two things: Fuyo’s desire to protect someone he values is satisfied and Hyoko finally starts opening up to the others.
I have an idea for this idea! Since it’s brought up that killing off Fuyuhiko would devalue Peko’s sacrifice, maybe Mikan would attempt to murder Hiyoko and Fuyuhiko comes to protect her. With that, they go to alarm the others and the whole class trial is trying to figure out how Ibuki was murdered and if Mikan killed her or if Hiyoko and Fuyuhiko did. Maybe Fuyuhiko’s willingness to protect her would be a way for her to see that trusting the others isn’t a bad idea. And maybe Sonia could provide a testament that she saw Hiyoko trying to put on her kimono, and that there was no way that she could’ve killed Ibuki that fast with a untied Kimono. Anyway sorry for that ramble, I just wanted to add some ideas
One of the biggest pro-Sonia survivors here Sonia dying could legit be a great case because, well, SHE’S A PRINCESS. SHE HAS AN ENTIRE NATION ON HER SHOULDERS. Her death would affect not just our survivors, but an entire kingdom. Plus, her little thing about being glad she’s equal and that she hopes to be friends with everyone when you first meet her would just be painful looking back
@@DetectiveNyx lol yeah. But your idea for Sonia dying and Kazuichi getting character development was actually very interesting and I never even thought of that

Sorry icant remember the word, like when she tells hajime in her country you should be like 20 min early or smt) Also : sezs joke×2 and occasional heavy swearing
really appreciated this video as the dynamics would have been so interesting to see unfold. but more importantly was what you said at the end about a work inspiring others in a profound way that when attempting their own to change or write one’s own answer to something that didn’t sit well or saw potential in that wasn’t reached. and you are right, it’s an incredible feeling to figure something out that becomes uniquely yours as a result. Danganronpa truly shaped many future projects-to-be that I know will come out eventually and it makes me very excited. so thank you to everyone who worked on this video, and especially for touching upon that note. …sorry for rambling, it really struck a chord for me as others have stated that about an idea I have that emerged exactly in the way you described here.
I completely agree with you. Sonia would’ve made the most logical second victim in this case. Keep in mind, Sonia is kind of my comfort character for me and I still 100% agree with your points about her and I definitely feel the same. Also, a Fuyuhiko and Hiyoko friendship sounds lovely and I stan. Amazing video, I’m sad I haven’t watched this sooner. Keep up the great work.
I've actually thought about this a while ago and you LITERALLY took the words right out of my mouth! I agree with everything you said and as a hiyoko stan this would've made me REALLY happy!
Personally I don't think both Kuzuryuu and Saionji should have lived. Their arcs were too similar, and it would have been redundant. And Kuzuryuu had an awesome arc with more potential than Saionji, so I'm happy with how things went. However, if Saionji lived I think Kuzuryuu should have died with Pekoyama in chapter 2 instead of being magically healed by Monokuma. That would have made chapter 2 even more impactful. The second victim could have been Sonia, if there really was a need for a second victim. Personally what I disliked the most about chapter 3 is that the motive was the cheapest in the series and that Mioda's death was the most unfair one (I'm not a fan of Mioda, but I didn't like how Monokuma rigged the game so Mioda couldn't possibly survive without her representing a threat to her plan). Also, that Mikan seemed to have teleported during her murder. By the way, I don't think the murder weapons is neccesarily a scalpel. Tsumiki was a nurse, not a surgeon, so she had no reason to carry a scalpel around.
I real wish MIKAN didn’t die either cause lots of people see her as a fan service charachter. Or see her as crazy as they don’t realize why she went crazy when remembering.
I think Sonia should have got the diease and kill hiyoko. She usually like dreaming about things with there despair disease it would make her take initiative and be like the serial killers she likes so much. Her death could have impacted gundham and kazuichi.
@@frenchfries2998 I don't think Tanaka would have been very impacted. People usually exaggerate his relationship with Sonia, but they didn't interact that much in the game. And considering his personality, he would have hidden it anyway. Sonia being a murder victim would fit her since she is so obsessed with murderers. But wanting to become one would still be a better motive than becoming evil just because Monokuma said so. The disease is still a horrible motive.
this is actually such a cool improvement and I would definitely be interested to see it if it happened in the game in canon. seriously, I do like hiyoko as a character and think that she shouldn't have died so early on. these changes would be so cool... great analysis, good work!
18:39 Kiyo stan about to slam my face against to keyboard say: PLEASE STOP TRYING TO JUSTIFY HIS ACTIONS HE’S SO MUCH BETTER AS AN ABSOLUTE MONSTER OF A CHARACTER! Also really fuckin good video. I fell off of DR for a while so I haven’t watched much of your content recently, and I’m planning on rectifying that now that I’ve watched this.
hiyoko is my 2nd favorite danganronpa 2 character, her death hurt me a lot,she deserved the development that himiko got, himiko is everything i wanted hiyoko to be
Spoiler I wish that they brought up Mikan’s behavior at the end of her trial during the Chapter 6 trial. That could further state “This is what you ALL were like before, Mikan was a perfect example. You ALL were like her. She reverted back to being a Remnant of Despair blah blah blah, etc.”
Ngl, during that chapter's trial, I kept furiously accusing Sonia as the killer and almost hit game over bc she was so sus (I did not account for how she could've done it tho lmao)
Why do I agree with you so much tf Edit: - Hiyoko was my favorite in drv2 and didn't finish her arc - I really hate Sonia and she gets on my nerves. - It would give Kazuichi (my 5th favorite character of all time) to survive. Thank you this video was amazing
But hiyoko and fuyuhiko would basically have the same devolpments. Really mean small people that no one takes seriously effected by a death in chapter 2 and starts being nicer.
I’m going to write my version of the trial in the comments in a while because I disagree with a lot even if I do adore this video. Hi Lexi from like seventy years later I finished it lol So this probably won’t be seen I mean it’s been two months but I’d like to share my opinion as a Sonia fan. I honestly believe that Hiyoko dying was smart it shows how tragic the killing game could be I mean think about it death isn’t death without loss I think Sonia dying for Kazuichi isn’t the best idea mostly because it would be fridging which doesn’t sound great but I’d like to give an alternative if we want Hiyoko to survive how about this Kazuichi dies this would help both Hiyoko and Sonia, Sonia for obvious reasons and Hiyoko because Kazuichi was her second biggest target it could make her feel guilt for her actions Sonia living from this would also leave chapter four to be more interesting since it could give Gundam and Sonia more interactions let’s say Sonia is grieving over Souda Gundam more or less tries comforting her over the chapter and she feels better now we know what happens in chapter four so let’s go to the trial Sonia struggles to clear gundams name until she cannot anymore and then he dies I think if they really want to hint at a relationship they should just go ahead and make it happen, let’s say Gundam is found guilty and leaves Sonia crying he gives her his hamsters and tells her to continue living for him and there we go in chapter five we can have her trying very hard to cope with everything that’s happened and in chapter five she breaks down over Chiaki like she did I think this would give her the development she needs and yeah this is too long so if someone read this thanks dude
Damn, even after rewatching the video multiple times, i agree with every point you raised. It's amazing to think how one change made Kazuichi and Hiyoko have excellent character development. Hopefully i can be a patron at some point just so i can join in on votes or suggest an idea for a video.
Honestly I really like your point to all of this, too me it makes me appreciate Hiyoko more than just what I first perceived her to be. Like now your just making Hiyoko one of my favorite characters because of this video and i thank you for that, this video really does shed a light towards these different ideals and thoughts towards them and it's really nice.
Yo Aeris... Me and my friend had this EXACT SAME CONVERSATION. Almost EXACTLY. About Peko and Mahiru's sacrifice-- To Kazuichi and Gundham's post-Sonia death arc together. The complete unification of all the Survivors being people who've lost things. EVERYONE in the whole game would have this impressive arc and share losing another.
I’m pretty sure Kazuichi wasn’t actually abused by his father. WeebyNewz explains this further in her analysis of Kazuichi, but basically, it was more of a figurative “beating up”; he wasn’t actually physically hurt by his parents (and if he was, it wasn’t constant- it most likely only happened once or twice during Kazuichi’s childhood). Amazing video otherwise though, and I completely agree :)
I mean even if it happened once or twice. It still is abuse. Nor does it take away from the fact that this happened and could still cause trauma Abuse:treat (a person or an animal) with cruelty or violence, especially regularly or repeatedly. Key word especially. Not solely And even if it doesn’t actually count as abuse. It is still wrong and can still be traumatic
And abuse isn’t always physical. It can be verbal or emotional. That figurative beating up if resulted in insults and degrading for example, and what beating up figuratively usually is, is still very much abuse. And even if not constant, it still can have horrible effects on someone’s psyche and should not be excused. Perhaps you aren’t excusing it but it interprets that way to me.
Actually, Hiyoko was never supposed to be the survivor. Her role was always meant to be the Taka of this game (a character whose best friend dies in Chapter 2, now she dies when she\s slowly changing). Someone likely created this headcanon to explain why her death was looked into in less detail (even though the same happened with Taka, with Hifumi's death being more focused on). Likewise, the misconception that Fuyuhiko was supposed to die (apparently instead of Nekomaru, a misconception likely created due to having each other's beta designs) is a myth too. It's been spread by someone on a Korean wiki with no actual source. Read about it here: popculturemyths.com/fuyuhiko-was-supposed-to-die-in-chapter-3/
a. i still think it's likely that this was the initial plan because while it's not a confirmed theory, it hasn't been outright disproven either, and the writing does support that hiyoko was meant to get further development while fuyuhiko was meant to die here. it's not like there's a character that just rushed through their development at chapter 3 and hung around the rest of the game like fuyuhiko did in dr1, so taka's death makes more sense as that devastating hit; because it was written to be a devastating hit. the writing being so rushed in solely this chapter also indicates it was rewritten in a hurry. b. even though i was aware of this being an unconfirmed theory after publishing the snapshot, at the time of writing i was in deep depression and severely fearful of my safety and security, and was just desperate to finish the video so there was something to show through that timeframe, whether the theory presented was confirmed or not.
I always believed that if Sonia didn't exist, Gundham and Kazuichi would inevitably form a true bro relationship. Both are socially awkward guys who have issues trusting that someone else wants to be their friend, both end up putting on flashy personas/appearance to stand out, and assuming Sonia was part of the story and died, both had meaningful connection to her that would be the catalyst to them actually bonding over the many other similarities they share. This would also make Chapter 4 way more meaningful, because in my own interpretation, while Gundham is happy to recieve Sonia's compliments and consoles her in moments of sadness... I don't think he has same crush on her as she does on him or as Kazuichi does on her. This love triangle is full of only one-sided connections, with Kazuichi crushing on Sonia, Sonia crushing on Gundham and Kazuichi antagonizing Gundham for that. And having Gundham sacrifice himself while having a meaningful MUTUAL close connection to someone would be way more impactful and open further room to make Kazuichi not as much of a butt for every joke as Teruteru's replacement.
I was thinking Mikan tried to kill Hiyoko but missed and ended up killing Ibuki, then she tried to kill her again but Hiyoko juked her and Sonia died. This would work because of her clumsy self. Also remove those scenes of Mikan sleeping with Hajime and her trying to hard to make an alibi before the trial, that made it wayyy too obvious.
@@DetectiveNyx well then... I guess since she’s so used to acting clumsy she’ll miss, or else Hiyoko is just the troublesome child who manages to dodge everything.
The reason I think this should happen is because it wouldn’t make sense for her to not try to get revenge on Hiyoko when there’s 2 victims and getting bullied is kinda her motive, this would also make the murder scenario very unique and interesting. Also dang didn’t think I’d get a reply from you so fast
