#TBTF and corporate bailouts ..... remember everyone got 300 dollars stimulus each? So maybe that was a test case, Sars covid one was in 2003, 8k people total, then a government patent for covid vaccine was introduced in 2013, then we had covid - 19 or Sars covid two, and BTW, VAS stands for vaccine associated sarcoma, source NIH. @@davinxi5926 Not just that. All over the country hundreds of units are bought by investment groups, effectively pricing out the average buyer. Right now, for example, in Hawaiianian residents and workers have no place to live, while corporations can afford to sit on empty units. Without legislation...this will only get worse.

Maybe, the minim wage should have been raised. You're about 40-50 years behind the times. in 1994 minimum wage was 4.25 an hour, and that was just existing above the poverty line. in 2024 (30 years later) the minimum wage has seen a whopping increase of $3.00 an hour to $7.25 an hour. (Want to know why Social Security is coming up short?) Anyway, you reap what you sow. Both democrats and republicans decided to stymie the minimum wage years ago, and they've continued to do so. Now the weight of the world can no longer be supported by our lowest rung earners. (The homeless who have jobs, living in the cars, RVS, tents, underpasses, trailers...)
@richardpark3054
@richardpark3054 Месяц назад
Anybody who is reasonably intelligent & motivated can learn a trade like plumber or carpenter or mechanic or electrician and command wage many times higher than 'minimum wage'. Minimum wage is for teenagers & college students to get some spending money; it isn't intended to provide unskilled labor the resource to buy a house and raise a family. If you're earning minimum wage after 30, you don't have a lot of material needs or you've made some poor choices.
@elmerkilred159
@elmerkilred159 Месяц назад
@@richardpark3054 That's not true. There are lots of people in the world who lack the aptitude to function in a tradesman capacity. Minimum wage was not designed for teenagers, it was designed to keep businesses from exploiting labor like they did in the great depression. The minimum wage has been stymied for over 50+ years. The ACTUAL minimum is $30 an hour. (This is what 501c's figure volunteer labor's replacement value with actual paid employees at when writing grants). The elderly rely on minimum wage jobs, widowed mothers, people between jobs, convicts, immigrants. Government programs like Social Security would have been more solvent had the minimum wage only kept up with the cost of living. (and before you say that the overhead cost of labor causes inflation, let me remind you that inflation has happened over the past 30 years without a raise of labor wages).
@richardpark3054
@richardpark3054 Месяц назад
@@elmerkilred159 1) What's not true? 2) I worked for minimum wage in the '70's; it was about $2.50/hr. Current minimum wage in California (where I worked in the '70's) is $14/hr with multiple higher tiers. Adjusting for inflation from 1980, $2.50/hr then would be about $10.00/hr today. How can you say that "minimum wage has been stymied for over 50+ years" when, adjusted for inflation, it's 40% higher in the last 50-ish years? 3) Sure, there are "lots of people in the world who lack the aptitude to function in a tradesman capacity." Maybe there's millions world-wide, I don't know. But the vast majority of people can and do work. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of March, 2024, there were 132,000 Americans unable to work due to ill health or disability. Further, of the 100 million not in the labor force, the vast majority (94 million) did not want a job. 4) What do you mean " The ACTUAL minimum is $30 an hour"? Minimum wage is not a fuzzy guestimate thingy: it's a quantity defined to the penny.

The Homeless in these States/Cities are given 💴 money to cover up the mess, but it still didn’t give them more shelter. Now, perhaps the shelter crises might be able to move people into vacant Office Buildings. The Funds to pay for those vacant spaces will be taken from the homeless money and be applied to their shelter instead…..sounds good to me, I would vote for that plan.
@armyveteran101st
@armyveteran101st Месяц назад
Homeless people should not be allowed to sleep on the streets if alternatives like shelters are available to them. Staying in a shelter should not be optional to them if a shelter is available. It should be mandatory, but in many instances these homeless people are drug-addicted and don't want to submit to a shelter's rules regarding drugs and curfews. They have rights, but their rights end where the rights of others in society begin. If you are homeless and panhandling and I give you some money, (which happens frequently), and then you turn around and use that money to buy drugs, you have completely lost my empathy. Tough love is what is needed to deal with the homelessness problem, along with meaningful support for those who fell in the situation through no fault of their own and really want to get back on their feet and do something with their lives.

The homeless issue in California is effecting everyone’s lives and it’s just getting bigger and bigger, so not doing anything about it is not the answer. Something should have been done about it a long time ago. Where did the billions of dollars go?? They could have built a compound to move them to, where they can evaluate them, separate them into groups and start rehabilitating them. Move them to the FEMA camps.
@sarahdawn7075
@sarahdawn7075 Месяц назад
A Compound? Evaluate them? Separate them? No. They are Americans who can't afford housing. Evaluation complete. As for "separating", that would be the criminalization part of this debate. I don't think being PRICE GOUGED out of the ability to shelter yourself qualifies as a CRIME. HOMELESSNESS isn't a crime. GREED FLATION is the crime. What are you going to do? Place 99% of the population in government run compounds? Because that's where this is going if this runaway inflation, isn't just "brought under control", but REVERSED back to equilibrium. Because there shouldn't be a monopoly on wealth.

The Supreme Court could resolve the issue of homelessness and drug addiction by directing activists and city officials to distinguish between reasonable people who suffer from homelessness and those who are drug addicts, criminals, or mentally ill and unwilling to accept shelter or housing for various reasons. Combining all these groups will not lead to any meaningful solution.

You are correct. We have plenty of shelters in our city, however there are “rules” and code of ethics that are required in order to stay in the shelters….one is drug testing AND that is why they remain in the street! Build Back Better, maybe put some of that green energy money into building more shelters along with social programs to help them get a hand up, for those that want to.

The Supreme Court is listening but can they figure it out. What is the meaning of inalienable rights? Inalienable means something that is not transferable or that is impossible to take away (God-given rights). Every constitution provides for fundamental rights which are inalienable rights. In America the homeless have proven that inalienable rights doesn't exist, the government can take away your home whenever they want. It is insane! To make laws against people sleeping or using the bathroom cannot work… People cannot make a choice not to sleep or relieve themselves. The government is sponsoring homeless torture. Bullying to suicide being taught in elementary school puts hate in the soul of God ("I am what I am") today the human race is making the future impossible to live for. Nuclear Armageddon is logical, even AI agrees. laws making reality evil to the human spirit makes survivability impossible. PS. Politics making laws forcing people to spit in the face of reality is how demonic feelings are created, humanity has a need to survive without logic working against it.
