Sydney is finally getting the transport upgrade it desperately needs with the new Sydney Metro fast underground rail network. This upgrade includes not only new trains but also additional station locations, promising significantly reduced travel times across the city. This week marks a significant milestone as all 45 metro trains in the current fleet have completed at least one return journey between Tallawong and Sydenham, which in case you don't know, is CRAZY FAST!

Some clarifications, and to lay out the current situation. The line from Westmead to the new Western Sydney Airport is only pencilled in at this stage. The same goes for the other extensions. No date set for the start of these projects. The Western Sydney Airport Metro runs to the Sydney Trains station at St Marys, where you will have to change. The line between the City and Parramatta/Westmead is currently under construction. The Metro line between Chatswood and Sydenham is currently under test, and should open in the next 2 months. Conversion of the Bankstown Line should start in the next few months. They recently announced that the branch of the Parramatta Light Rail (currently under test) to Olympic Park will go ahead. And, wrong Ron Christie.

Yeah, very muddled. Gets the Western Sydney Airport Metro and Metro West Metro mixed up. Lots of historical stuff that is now irrelevant with amusing confusion between the federal and state governments. The high point is the interesting episode in identity politics with Ron Christie. Plus most of the usual mis-pronunciations. Highly unprofessional.

Bob Car as Premier promised many infrastructure projects for Sydney, and in all those years only delivered the M5 east tunnel. So he was indeed good at announcing things.

The Western Sydney Airport train only starts at St Marys station. There is a seperate line proposed from the city to Parramatta via Sydney Olympic Park

The metro between the City and Parramatta/Westmead is currently under construction. They have pushed the completion date back a bit to take pressure off the state budget.
