That infamous photograph of Concorde in flames as it struggles to get off the ground is such a sad scene. It illustrated not only the end of the lives onboard that aircraft, but of the entire Concorde fleet. I was in complete shock when I saw that picture for the first time ever about a year ago. Rest in Paradise to all victims involved. Such a grim image.

I am French, and I remember the pride of the country for this invention that was Concorde. The plane taking more than a hundred passengers, the fastest in the world. But it was the most expensive too. But from Paris to New York, it seems to me that it took less than 3hoo to go, instead of 8-9h00 ... Most countries around the world wanted to know the secrets of this product, Concorde. I was 12 when this drama happened. Within three years after this regrettable accident, the cause of this accident had indeed been discovered. On the other hand, I did not quite understand the relationship between September 11 and Concorde ... In any case, thank you for this reconstruction, almost 21 years later! You are very talented! McDonnel Douglas doesn’t manufacture engines. Nobody ever talks about how the plane was overweight, overfilled with fuel, and Air France decided not to install the kevlar lined tanks that were recommended. Lots of scapegoating and misinformation here
@chrisburnby62

@@kingssuck06 Kevlar lined tanks were an afterthought . A tonne of fuel extra means nothing to a 4 engine aircraft, they could burn that off on a long taxi if it was necessary. McDD probably did the bad repair themselves as it’s not a job that would require the attention of the manufacturers.

Compare numbers of airplanes built. Compare passenger-hours flown. You don't even need to be a Boeing fan boy like me to appreciate the 747 being superior in nearly every way. The production run of the 380 is over; it was woefully short. The 747 will be going strong while carriers with 380s try to sell their airframes for parts. Every untimely death is a tragic occurrence, but the runway collision in Tenerife when two 747s collided led to 547 fatalities, far and away the greatest death toll in any aviation accident. The 9/11/2001 attacks using hijacked planes caused almost 3000 fatalities in 3 locations (most fatalities were on the ground), but this was sabotage, not an accident.

I've been saddened and misty eyed through several of your videos. Until today, I've never sat crying like I still am now. First saw Concorde when she made a special stop in Nashville 1988. I worked near the airport and nearly lost my job because I stayed outside watching this plane for as long as I could. I went to the airport after watching it fly over our building and got many shots with the little disposable camera I bought for the occasion. This plane is the stuff of dreams. My heart hurts for the 109 people lost in this crash. 😥

I remember seeing footage on TV back when this happened. Even though it was no fault of the Concorde nor any of its crew, it is impossible to get that image out of your head seeing fire shooting out the back of an aircraft at takeoff. Until now, I never knew the cause of that fire. I do recall that it was pretty much a death knell for the Concorde. That airplane was obviously packed full of some well-to-do people, considering the cost of flying on the Concorde and the fact they were all headed for a 16-day cruise across the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately their lives all ended quite tragically. Great job on the production!

I've worked in travel for years and my biggest regret was never taking a flight on Concorde. We used to receive 'seat sales' on undersold legs and would often see prices as low as £99 (around $120 at the time) for flying one way between London/Paris and New York or v.v. Stupidly I always thought there would be another opportunity. Because so many people caught footage of this crash, it's ingrained on me. Rest in peace to everyone who perished.

That was very respectfully done. Every catastrophe that occurs in flight is horrendous but this one has such a pointlessness to it as it was a single piece of metal that brought Concorde down and there was zero hope for anyone aboard.
