In terms of Amity no longer vying for a position in the Emperor's Coven, it was briefly shown in the Season One finale that SHE was among those watching Eda almost get turned to stone. My guess is after seeing the people she looked up to almost hurt someone without a proper trial, Amity realized that the Coven was actually a pretty nasty bunch of bad eggs
I know, but I wish they would have shown more of Amity changing her mind, being disappointed in Lilith ( who was her mentor but it was never mentioned again) who cursed her own sister and doubting about her future seeing how bad the coven she always dreamed of really is.

Personally, I see Eda's curse as a metaphor for chronic illnesses. The pig demon price gouges the elixir, she has to take the elixir every day or her sympotoms return and there isn't a cure as far as we know
Yeah, it can be an allegory for mental illness but it functions as a general allegory for an incurable conditions, be they mental or physical, like diabetes and chrons disease. Medicine can keep it under control and accepting it as part of you is important.
@Alexis Vandom True! And part of dealing with chronic illness is dealing with how it damages one's self-worth. I think Eda's transformation is less overcoming her curse and more overcoming herself. Conquering the beast within the only way that counts. By acceptance. Accepting that this terrible curse that's defined her life for so long does NOT define who she is and it does NOT mean she's unlovable and it does NOT make her a bad person. By accepting her curse as a feature, not a flaw, addressing her trauma while also owning up to her self-destructive behaviors over the years, Eda is finally at a place where she can really change for the better. A place where she can define herself, curse and all... :3
Brilliant LGBT+ representation aside, can we just appreciate the most realistic representation of a developing romantic relationship in any kind of media so far. Most relationships I've seen, even on the best movies or shows, fall into one of 2 categories: the people involved are basically predestined to end up together due to circumstances, selective introduction or forced writing, with the usual useless will-they-won't-they arcs that nobody falls for (ex: AtlA with Aang and Katara, B99 with Jake and Amy, any MCU movie that has the tiniest trace of a romantic subplot) or one of the characters goes to increasingly ludicrous shenanigans to eventually win over/ wear down their love interest (ex: TBBT with Leonard and Penny, Literally any Disney Channel show from the 2000's). None of that happens to people in real life who have feelings for each other. You know what does happen? Awkward silences, vague gestures, questioning EVERYTHING you say or do, before, after and while you're doing or saying it. For all of that alone, The Owl House owns a place in the media hall of fame and my heart for ever !!!
I think I've seen you copy and paste the same comment onto several videos about the series, but I try to like the comment every time I see it because it's true. These two are a growing, healthy relationship. They flail awkwardly and can't think around each other, they try to communicate their needs with each other even when the words get stuck in their throat, they embarrass each other and apologize to each other. It's not some bullshit fairytale "perfect relationship".

Crowing about the representation from the rooftops is actively counterproductive and beside the point lol. But a closer look at the actual relationship besides just the fact they're gay reveals that these two are like. The only *healthy relationship* I've seen in TV in recent years. Perhaps even the decade.
You forgot about toxic relationships being normalized ( Reylo, Catradora) and a character you're supposed to sympathize with being too creepy ( Marinette in Miraculous). A lot of representations of both straight and gay relationships suck, I love how great the ones in the Owl House are even if it's only an aspect.
Something that I also found interesting in the palisman episode was a seemingly throwaway line when Luz says "I've seen these stories before, the hero always has to return home." I honestly feel like this line has more weight to it, and might be another way that this show subverts our expectations in how the show concludes
Reminds me of Samael from Darksiders 1. "Sometimes, the hero dies in the end. But Horseman... I like stories that have a happy ending." And he repeats the line in 2, albeit just with "Sometimes, the hero dies in the end." *spoilers* for Darksiders 1 and 2 This prediction did come true in both instances... But both deaths brought hope, and marked new beginnings. Let's hope Samael gets the happy ending he likes so much with the Owl House.

Apart from possibly being a little *too* stuffed with arcs and storylines (leaving no room for Willow...), season 2 is very much shaping up to be one of the best seasons of western animation I've ever seen. Period. And the fact the show has blown up online to the point of reaching prominent trending spots on Disney+ is so incredibly satisfying, especially since it's only to grow bigger from here.
Its not the shows fault its so packed. Disney is is cutting it short cause they cant have lgbt content cause China and russia no likey. So with limited time they have to literally scramble on the plot.

People who have looked more closely at this also have reason to suspect it had way more to do with the corporation as a whole losing a lot of revenue from the pandemic.

I'm still not used to it, but I like the symbolism of it. Also, I have a thought that she might've gotten the idea of purple because Luz wears purple. Green is associated with a negative emotion like jealousy, disgust while purple is associated with positive emotion like kindness, love.
To be fair Luz was played by that snake-oil slug demon in episode 2 on her first official day as a Witch's apprentice. Also it's pretty evident that Luz's weakness is not her quirky creativity and imagination, but her lack of thinking ahead. How her actions would affect those around her. And I'm betting that is something she will likely come face to face with in the final clash.

Camilla was right, when something (in this case, Luz's creativity) gets to the point of causing actual harm to those around her things need to get addressed pronto. Did she maybe go overboard with that Reality Check camp? Maybe, we never got to see what it actually was like, but considering the other misfit kids seen in Vee's debut episode seemed, more or less, "normal" after going through it, probably not Conformatiorium bad. Luz however, has mellowed out a lot compared to beginning of Season 1 Episode 1.
Camila is a good mother that many kids who grew up in a broken home wish they had. Whoever sees her as a bad mother I honestly think they haven't reflected on their privilege and gratefulness themselves
I'm gonna have to support the two previous comments down here in the replies. Camila is perfectly fine as a mother, if she wasn't, Luz would not be so invested in finding a way back home and Vee wouldn't look up to her or speak about the camp happily. I wish I had Camila as a single mom instead of the one I got lmao. It also speaks to Luz's character development. She was supposed to be sent to the summer camp under the suggestion of her old principal because her antics were really starting to bug her classmates. So when she got to the boiling isles and expected to get a magical power fantasy for herself, it's really neat how the writers dressed that down by giving her a lesson in self control in the fantasy world anyway. And it's done purely by contrasting her against real witches who live their lives as normal. "Her mom is at fault for trying to have Luz tone it down" is completely lost on what was being portrayed.
I love how Eda is not a typical cartoon adult. She's not stuffy or stoic, she doesn't uphold any pretext of having her life together but she's also kind, compassionate and just the so sassy. for me, having never seen characters quite like her growing up, I've realized "That's the kind of adult I want to be" (I say at age 36)
I think I'm an unpopular opinion, but for now Hunter isn't interesting to me. I think it's because his character has been used before and if he does something different it'll catch my attention
Amphibia and Owl House are indeed both High Quality. But the same, if not higher Quality, yet way more underrated, are Cliffside and Starship Goldfish. So yeah, at least 2 of those get Recognition, but what about the other 2?? Side-Note: I dont like Luz Mother. She DID made BIG Mistakes.
Being quiet, spaced out and passive does not excuse the fact that Alidor is an enabler and just as guilty. He has never done a SINGLE thing to help his children. He didn’t stop the abomaton when he clearly could have. He is 100% OK with child abuse and murder. It’s annoying when people let let Alidor off the hook and blame Odelia for everything. Like how Skyler (or whatever her name was) was hated and Walter was praised in breaking bad. It was a cultural phenomenon that exposed how misogynistic we were back then. I’m seeing something similar here. that is all. Obviously the comparison is not one to one by any means. This time the woman is also in the wrong, but somehow gets more of the hate? There are a bunch of complex factors at play here and I just really like to think about it. It is definitely not just misogyny though.
It happens a lot in different abusive relationships. Sometimes one of them is complacent while the other is the aggressor. Alidor probably cares for the mother because maybe when they were younger she had a softer side and when the emperor came into power the mother became obsessive with the business mindset. Alidor could be intimidated by his wife and not wanting her to lash out at him. I see that Amity's parents want her to survive in a really scummy world and so they use tough love. It's not a good way to parent, but I don't see them as plainly evil. At least not yet. I think their mindset revolves around "you have to work to live". That world is run by a dictatorship and I saw Amity's parent's goal to make her a coven leader. This is because coven leaders are able to have benefits that regular people don't. They care about Amity, but it has become a controlling obsessive need to make sure she'll be strong enough in the future.

for the record- disney cut this shows runtime short, limiting season 3 to 3 episodes. granted they'll each be about 40 minutes long to compensate...but....3 episodes....its awful what disney did to it. so really, they dont have a ton of time to get the story out, every episode is going to be a development in one way or another

I've seen more comparisons to the curse as being a physical disability. Or something like HIV. (And the social stigma that comes with it.) But mental disability is also a very solid allegory. Personally, one of the parts I like the most is that Luz is allowed to be a teenager in TOH. SO many other shows, INCLUDING teen/"adult" cartoons are just... the girls are completely spayed until they hit 18. And then: They are suddenly given one of two incredibly offensive and patronizing archetypes. And TOH does it well as well. It's not shoehorned or forced. (Granted, it does feel like it was a bit speedrun with several characters development in S1)
@@parlinmains Basically, yes. In a short comparison: Cartoons have for *decades* allowed boys to be hormonal horndogs. While the girls generally... have been robotic drones, that at best did a "Ew!" in response to being hit on. Luz has actually been allowed to portray well, hormones. The most obvious first one being the "This is questing in ALL the right directions~". Luz ACTUALLY is shown to be in puberty before the age of 18. And that is VERY rare in cartoons.
I'd say a tie between the ending of "Through the Looking Glass Ruins" for its fantastic chemistry and character insight, and the introduction of Vee because I think she's an incredibly fascinating character.
To be fair, I never believed Camilla hated Luz's creativity; MY fear was that she didn't put that much thought in where she was sending her daughter to help CONTROL that creativity. In other words, the whole "Reality Check Summer Camp: Think Inside the Box" thing just gave me vibes of that reform school from Phineas & Ferb Get Busted. Much like Camilla, Linda Flynn-Fletcher felt that her boys' creativity was alarming and thought sending them to the aforementioned reform school was the "best way" to keep them safe. But instead, the camp quite literally drove all creativity out of the minds of the children there; turning them all into boring zombie conformists. THIS is what I and many others feared Luz was in for if she went to Summer Camp. In which case, THAT'S where we saw Camilla making the biggest mistake ever. It's one thing to keep your imagination/creativity under control...but it's another matter entirely to force it out of people
One of my favorite parts of this show was that Raine wasn’t some “other than” species like a lot of non-binary characters and was a regular witch! It makes me happy to see myself in a character that isn’t considered odd
I kinda love how everyone in the Boiling Isles accepts Luz is a human. They don't discriminante against her, or fear her, or try to dissect her, everyone is fine with Luz. There's this interdimensional creature walking around and no one cares. It's funny when compared with shows like Amphibia.
Huh, that's not a thing I ever stood still at before. If there's a reason for it, an in-universe one, then I suppose inhabitants of the Boiling Isles can end up resembling anything, and the threats the world carries can take more unusual, unnatural and/or abstract shapes than the more organic and eco-system based ones of Amphibia. Generally speaking, at least. And Wartwood's motto as a random town is literally "Slow to accept, even slower to respect" whereas Bonesborough is a full city of respectable size. Big cities in general house all sorts of people.
well in amphibia, the 3 girls have a totally different anatomy from walking frog people, in the boiling isles the only real difference between luz and the witches is the fact that her ears aren’t pointy, and that she can’t use magic traditionally
I do gotta admit, so far of what we seen of season 2, it has been a HUGE improvement over season 1! While the first season was decent but my biggest grip was that the pacing was iffy! Like when we thought Eda was going to teach Luz magic and not going to that school but a few episodes later she got enrolled anyway! We got the characters developments we wanted, new characters introduce to add to the lore (Eda mother and Gold Guard aka Hunter) and etc! Also I lowkey liked Hooty and felt sorry that he couldn't leave the house! So glad with that episode, he contributed to the show by ten fold for making Lumity a reality. Speakinbg of Lumity I kinda liked that it taking its own pace than to rushed it like some cartoon! I mean so far, they haven't kissed lip to lip yet! Lastly, you got nothing to says about the Golden Guard aka Hunter? When we first saw his proper introduction in the first episode, I did NOT expect him to have a charmy/ young voice and with a arrogant/ playful personality to back it up (that "K, bye" always crack me up)! Turns out he's more of an complex characters with issue to deals with (abandoment issue?). Oh while you mention that lgbt is acceptable in the Boiling Isle but I think the better example uses of that was Raine introduction episode since they just normalize they and make no special deal out of Raine!
25:50 to add to how accepting the Boiling Isles is how they treated Raine. Raine is a person not a robot or alien and is casually referred to as gender neutral. No real mention of them being non binary. Just using they/them pronouns and calling them partner. No one bats an eye. It’s great to see representation like that especially since I love Raine’s character
25:28 - one other scene that shows this is subtle, but when Luz calls to her mom the second time, it shows her in the kitchen again playing with the foil swan. After Vee took Luz's old things to the curb to throw away, Camilla brought them back inside because it's clearly a part of Luz she values and respects.
Ok hear me out, luz needs more character development. Right now, she can solve all her problems by doing some trials (getting amity’s job back, getting the palismans back), but I expect it will happen in s2b (a stream with some of the cast said that s2b is heart breaking) that might come about with a breakup with amity, or a fight with her own mum.
Of course he doesn't look like the Titan... because he takes after his mom. I'm calling it now, King is a source of magic and is the most important person in the world.
another unique and great thing about lumity - it's so unique how a queer relationship not only was not endgame (cough cough catradora/korrasami) but also how it was between a main character and another major character with their own personality, goals, fleshed out backstory, and the like! (cough cough troy sandoval) there are shows with queer characters of course! like ruby and sapphire from steven universe. but with them they don't get much screentime and yes they got married but they aren't major like amity, plus neither of them are main characters like luz is. coming from a queer person, i can tell you that rep like this is a great thing :) also raine whispers is great nb rep! Honeslty part of the reason i so enjoy the owl house is beacuse It's probably the first show I've ever seen both sort of take a shot at or bash found family. By which I mean the recent owl house episode both bashed it and appreciated it. It kinda touched on how it's not so great of a thing.... If you already have a good family that loves you. At that point you're just settling up to hurt your original family AND your new found one as you're developing strong bonds with both. This entire episode is basically addressing Luz mistakes and flaws. She chose to stay in the isles and lie to her mom. Despite her mom loving her deeply and giving her a nice home it still wasn't enough for Luz. The basilisk pointed this out and how Luz wanted some fantasy adventure. Giving up something others lack but badly want for....what? And her mom was very hurt by learning Luz chose to stay. Very, very hurt. Now Luz is starting to realize how much she's hurting her family with her actions. If she stays in the isles she hurts her mom. She leaves, she hurts eda and the rest who now NEED her in their lives to br happy and keep stable as she's a pillar for them. No matter what. She's gonna hurt someone she cares about Despite what Luz herself said in some ways? She's still the same girl she was from episode 1. Still stuck in wanting a fun fantasy adventure she can go home from at the end of summer and leave behind witha smile. Just like her fanfiction. But it's finally starting to hit home it's not that simple and won't work that way. yeah, the reality of her sitaution is settling in. Like: she LEAPT at the chance to "have an exuse" to where she had been. She went from "doppleganger!" real fast, to "Sweet! A way out!". Showing she's not grown much and still wants it both ways and a fun adventure. As said: It really dunked on the found family... while still praising the found family. It's not a bad thing. But when you already have a good family...
The problem wasnt that luz didnr love her mother, it was that she felt she had no place on earth. No friends, no activities that weren't her by herself. She very clearly in the last episode of season 1 and first of season 2 comments that she misses her mother. If she was an orphan, I doubt she would care about returning to earth. She "jumped at ths chance" because Vee could keep her mother safe and happy while Luz figured out a way home. She even says it in that episode "when I find a way home I can help you find a place" she just didnt want to worry her mother while she was stuck on the boiling ilses. And Vee saying that luz "had it good" needs its context. Would you say the problems of someone with depression and isolation are nothing, just because they aren't a refugee? Vee isnt totally wrong, but its not fair to take her view on things because she was happy in luz life, and it was so much better that any issues she might have had are negligible by comparison. I dont really see how any of this is taking shots at the found family trope. Its not like eda is not giving everything she can to help luz.

Do not forget in season 1 it showcased Luz was straight up dangerous with her interests. Being both disruptive and desctructive, bringing in a snake that quite littearly attacked someone. Luz absouulty needed to learn to reign this is in and gain some self control with this stuff. It was nto just that she was 'weird' or 'diffrent' it was that she was dangerous to those around her to a degree that lead her to be unable to get freinds. It actually says alot that the main reason she has freinds on the isles is that she's able to regin herself in and actually control her impluses and help them. Something she was unable to do on earth and had to nearly get herself killed in episode 2 to finnaly get it into her head she needed to change. Also Vee is quite defencess. I am not sure how she could keep her mother safe considering Vee had to get rescured herself and was ready to give up quite quickly. Happy perhaps, but happyness through a lie is only going to hurt the longer it goes on. And what i meant was that Vee saying Luz 'had it good' is quite correct. Acutually think about what Luz had. She had a good home. A wounderful mom who clearly loved her and wanted to understand her but struggled to, understood Luz needed to learn to reign in her interests and impulses and tried to help her. Compare this to the isles for a second where the place is an absoulte hellhole if you really think about it for 5 minutes where death is everywhere or getting eaten alive is so common nobody bats an eye. Luz was basically unabel to see what she had beacuse she was too foucused on what she didn't have. She had everything she needed, but not what she wanted. Luz gave up that, to live out a fantasy of becoming a witch adn having her own self insert fanfiction adventure. Luz straight up rejected reality in an attempt to live out her fantasy and nearly got herself killed in the process or worse in episode 2. And across the sereies so far? It's clear she didn't learn her lession at ALL. Luz had to put elbow grease into it yes. But Luz has tried to force hte boiling isles to be her fantasy fanfic adventure with her as the main character with her getting all the things she was stated to want out of one. A 'Hot yet vunrable upperclassman' in Amity. To 'Become a witch' by learning to use her magic. Getting to go to a magical school. Having a witch as her mentor/teacher. Being in a place straight up out of her imagination. Fighting back against an evil wizard and his minions. All in all having a big fun adventure....But one she fully intends to return home to and leave behind. Luz got everything she wanted and said she wanted from the first episodes and is paying the price for that. Plus, if Vee a non human with zero social skills somehow managed to make 3 freinds on earth by going to a camp? It probibly means Luz going there wouldn't of been bad for her and may of actually helped her get good friends who share her interests. As for the bashing on found family? Look at the final scene where Eda and king are hugging Luz. Look at her face. It's a realization smacking her in the face that she's become so close to them that theya re her new family. But it's a family she's trying to leave behind. Luz is realizing now that her mom back home is currently hurting and crying over her decicion to stay here and bond with those on the isles. THis is how it bashes Found Family. Almost always in the case of it, the one who finds it doens't have a good one back home or has none to begin with or was abandoned/betrayed in some way by their old one. So their new one is an example of what family SHOULD be. But the thing is Luz already HAS a family that loves her back home in her mother and she's going to have to choose one or the othe.r She's dug herself deep into both of her familes hearts. It's both appreciating and bashing it at the same time. And let's not even get into how Amity is heavily dependant on Luz being in her life and losing her would devastate her. YetLuz always wanted a summer fling. Not some deep, long term relationship like amity is clearly seeking. That's a whole other can of worms. Sorry for the length here but i hope it helps get my points across.
As someone with a physical disability, Eda's curse paralleled my experience really well, and I've heard others with chronic illness and chronic pain say so as well. That's not to say Eda's curse doesn't work as a mental illness/disability metaphor as well. In fact, I think it's a great strength of the narrative that it works either way.
I kinda think season 1 was just trying to get all of the tropes out of the way while trying to add and build the story and characters, and I think it did a good job of that, yknow, with Amity and Luzs grom dance n stuff. But season 2... oh-ho-ho season 2. Dana was just let loose on this season, istg. What we've gotten from season 2 so far is waay more than anything Disney has ever made. Im looking at you Ep 5 and Ep 8. 👀 there's my 2 cents

Don't try to make sense in a show which the most important plot point for both sides (Phillip's diary) is saved in a public library, and it was known by all people like Gwendolin but not for the main Villain who is the emperor of the Boiling isles.

He knowing where Eda lives and not doing really nothing, He knowing that a group of 4 people without any real power are trying to mess with his plans and just send people to "watch" and just leaving the diary in a public library any people can take it up. He should be the emperor, He can just send all head's coven and end the entire series. Even one of his school doesn't respect him and doesn't follow his rules. But this is plot, without this nonsense we wouldn't have any series. I hope Belos has a real plan.

I have a potential theory for "The Owl House," could Luz (and humans in general) possibly be something of an amplifier for magic cast by witches? The reason I bring this up is because some of the most impressive feats (outside of Eda's) were performed with Luz either being directly involved or in close proximity to the spell being cast. Do you find this theory plausible or am I just finding something where there is nothing?

Uh…. Wow. That was some expert Analysis stuff there. It was so concise and helped illustrate so much of the themes within the story. For me I just love how there is so much subversion within this this show, it’s refreshing to have things we thought were going to be complex be simple furthermore, things we thought were simple turn out to be complex. I think there’s this belief that cartoon can’t tackle complex storylines but in recent years that notion has flipped, this is why we need shows like the Owl House and more to really drive this home. I believe Animation can be for everyone.
23:48 I think that this hurt comes from Camilla's husband abandoning her, possibly to seek "excitement" from life. This ultimately led Camilla to be very insecure about people abandoning her, which would explain her reaction to finding out that Luz chose to go to the boiling isles.
I wish this show existed when I was a kid... I could've learned so mush from this show, especially the second episode. Luz in that episode was almost exactly like me growing up... I wanted a destiny, a path, and easy way through life. To be able to know that everything would be okay, that life would end with a certified _Happily Ever After._

You didn't get to the Hunter subversion. The fact that he turned out to be sort-a nice and Luz had to rescue him. I think that they'll all have to save him again and he may be the one to actually end the major conflict. However, there's no telling with the twists and turns we've seen so far.

Yes, I felt bad for Hooty during the first season, then Lilith came in, he nicknamed her Lulu, she called him Hootcifer, they became BFF and still write letters to each other. Friendship goals and happiness for our favorite owl tube.

I immediately connected to Luz when she revealed her main hobby was making AMVs. Damn. The most opressed minority finally getting some representation. Also, is it that obvious that Luz follows Contrapoints?
Interesting video overall but there are a few small issues. Luz got Amity fired? That's not untrue but it's also more complicated than that. Amity is every bit as responsible for that as Luz if not more. It was Amity's idea to go into the forbidden section of the library in the first place. Luz wanted to try something else. And at one point Luz suggested that they leave but Amity insisted on pressing on. The only thing Luz did wrong in that scenario was crying out in frustration and giving them away. Amity even admitted her culpability afterward when she said that she does stupid things when she's around Luz. Lavender-haired Amity doesn't feel that she needs someone else's approval? Actually that's not entirely true. She feels that she needs Luz's approval. Being rejected by Luz was revealed to be her greatest fear last season and apparently that's still the case. It also seems highly unlikely that Lilith's cheating is what began to sour Amity on the Emperor's coven. In the immediate aftermath of the incident she outright described the Emperor's coven as her future.
I still don't really care for Lilith. Especially with how angry Luz was with her in the finale I feel like not even one person being angry towards her felt weird. I know I'm pretty much alone with this, but while I did enjoy how she interacted with the group I don't really like her all that much. It's just neutral now, I felt no emotional catharsis but I also don't care if she's there or not.
It probably helps if you grew up with a sister because the sister dynamic is so realistic. I'll watch shows and be like dang these people never had sisters, huh? Then I watch this one and it's so close to home. It changed the arc that the villain is always just evil and will stay that way. There's so much moral grey in real life
@@emilyau8023 I have two sisters so it's not about being unable to relate to the sibling dynamic. Heck, I think the sibling dynamic is great here too. But that made me feel even less sympathy for Lilith. Because if she didn't curse her sister with a curse that, for all the audience knows as of yet, will never go away and severely crippled her in terms of magic, I would love her. I would love their banter, I have loved their banter and if I didn't know that Lilith did what she did I think I would love her hanging out at the Owl House. It was fun to watch her interact with the others, I especially liked that she was a friend to Hooty. But then I remember how much of Eda's life would've been easier if Lilith hadn't cursed her and how much heartbreak could've been avoided and I become less enthusiastic about her. The fact that it wasn't some random person she cursed but the sister she grew up with so closely just makes that stings even more for me. And with how little consequences in terms of her relationships to others there were it made me feel kind of... Meh. The resolution lacked emotional catharsis for me personally. I don't care about Lilith. Whew, sorry that turned into kind of a long rant.
Anyone else feel like emperor belos's face reveal made him… worse? In a way? More frightening? Like, this man who has been shown and told to do and have done horrid things and seems to want to control everyone and everything. But he has such a kind face. Other than the curse showing on his face, it looked kind. Like it belonged to a man who wanted to spread nothing but good and happiness in the world, like he was a man who could do no wrong. Do no harm. And yet, we know that he's quite the opposite to that. Edit: this detracts from my serious and fearful tone above, but I also noticed how small his ears were compared to other witches. Which is odd, and has led many to believe he's actually a human.
What a way to learn that everyone else had totally different expectations from me. I guess I'm just way too used to works of fiction already trying to subvert the classic tropes, to the point where they've made new tropes that are the reverse of older tropes.
I saw Eda's curse as more of an allegory for chronic illness in general. I see a lot of similarities between how she deals with it and how I deal with my chronic illness.

Is it only me who thinks that emperor belos kinda looks/sounds like the only other human to be on the boiling isles? Like the guy from the diary was trying to make a portal to the human world and so is belos...I'm not sure how to explain the fact that belos has pionty ears but it might just be an illusion??
If you look at his ears and compare them to witches, Belos's are a lot smaller and have a cut in them. I think he cut his ears to fit in and resemble those of the people there
Fantastic video. The Owl House is amazing. It's special because It's not just a Fantasy story. It's ABOUT fantasy. The one in our brain. The show is basically about real people inspired by fantasy, in a way.
The story behind the letters was a bit more connected to some grander plot than I originally thought. After grom I thought a shapeshifter escaped from the demon realm to Earth to hide out from the law and merely took advantage of Luz's absence. A lot of people thought Belos was behind it, but I was always highly skeptical of that since Belos didn't have access to a portal, given the effort he put into to getting Eda's. Turns out Belos was responsible, albeit indirectly, not actually masterminding it. I also didn't believe Eda was behind it, as I didn't think she would put that kind of effort into it. At least not right away. When Luz first showed up she didn't seem to care that much about her. Over time she became more attached to her, but by the point she would care enough to fake the letters Luz would of all ready been missing for a while and the camp should of reported her absence if someone wasn't covering it up. Also the letters talk about mortgages and I don't think Eda knows what they are. The Boiling Isles might have mortgages, but I don't think Eda personally knows what they are.

I mostly agree, but I think Liliths redemption was handled poorly. Or maybe a better way to put it, is that it's incomplete. So far it's ok, but the split curse should have been just the first step. Lilith needs to take a few steps back and realize why she did this and how to change so it doesn't happen again. I do think that looking through her Redemption Arc as a subversion of Redemption Arc's is interesting. But the key ingredient for these story arcs is that you convince the audience that they are sorry and that they won't do it again. And personally, I think that she won't join the forces of darkness against. But only because I know that the writers probably won't go down that road. Not because of Liliths actions. Its just that her character arc just seems unfinished. And we just need some moments of her doing some introspection, is all. Side note: I like how she is a Goof.
I'm pretty sure this is not on purpose, but as someone with many friends with DID, Eda's curse reminds me a lot of that. two beings having to share a body, switching at incongruous moments, then slowly learning to understand each other's needs to stop the mess that their switching caused from happening ? This is very close to DID imo

Wow, Lumity is truly valuable not just from an LGBT perspective, but also from a relationship perspective as well. Luz and Amity shows how it’s important to trust your loving partner and to respect their privacy. It’s truly legendary indeed.
We don't know whether or not Luz will chose to go back to Earth or stay in the Demon realm yet but Luz and Camila are going to need to have a another talk before then, They both have so much to say to each other and facts to consider. Preferably when the worlds aren't at risk from a Emperor wanting to merge the realms.
In hindsight, it seems pretty clear to me that when we first heard Alador he was just going along with what Odalia wanted. He got tired of that but didn't want to fight his wife over how to raise their kids, so he just focused on his career.
