The question I'll always have regarding Brady was did he learn to read defenses this well because Bellicheck & he pored over all those illegal films of opposing team's practices in detail until Brady understood what he was seeing? It's one thing to look up & _suspect_ one sort of coverage or another, another entirely to *know* it. Brady sneaks looks at defensive alignment _after_ as well as before snaps, to look for any changes. We *know* the Patriots did this: we know you don't take that footage then don't _use_ it, & this tendency itself is certainly a great way to use it. Part of me thinks that this is what's going on in New England now with Bellicheck sticking to his guns with Mack Jones despite Bailey Zappe's success. I'm starting to think that Bill brought Mack into some inner scheme that he doesn't want others to know about. All speculation. But food for thought nonetheless.

I think what he is saying is that most people and quarterbacks perfrom a ghost step when starting anytype of motion. Like if youre standing straight up and then try to launch into a sprint you put a footback instead of just immedialty pushing off creating whats called the false step commonly. Brady is starting in a stance where he can just immedielty back pedal without the false step. why every other quarterback dosent do this idk. he is not more athletic then them so maybe other teams dont think its that important or brady is just so comfortable in the pocket and in his routine other qbs would mess up because of it.

@@nathanbledsoe8163 Yeah, I can see how eliminating the "false step" helps with pocket integrity because your drop is shallower and it makes tougher for edge defenders to take the proper pass rush angles. But I don't see how it speeds up the timing of the play. The receiver still needs to get open at a certain time. And if the route they're running is, for example, traditionally tied to a 3 step drop, if Brady drops with 2 he's still waiting for them to get open. Unless you're saying that 3 step drops for QBs are really 4 step drops if you include the false step? And that receivers are actually getting open a hair sooner than we think? Or Brady has eliminated the false step, receivers are still getting open the same time as any other drop, it's just that Brady is throwing with slightly more anticipation than most, which would mean his receivers can't afford to be off time at all.

Didn't say it was entirely responsible. Offensive line performance plays a role as well.

Problem is is that the saints basically forced the bucs to pass deep because they cover the run game and short passes up so well. Because they do that it gives the dline and lbs time to rush brady and get to him before the recievers can even get deep enough for brady to pass.
