How the World of Little Nightmares Works (Little Nightmares 2 Theory) 

"Don't face your nightmares alone." I love that quote.

The Maw is a private establishment run by the lady. Her profile says that, “While the world outside is going insane, this will be her domain of order”. I also don’t believe The Maw’s employees are slaves, because of the aforementioned private business. Both The Janitor and Chefs have their own rooms and accommodation, and we see one of the chefs having a smoke break while The Janitor has a hobby of collecting things and making dolls, something I’m pretty sure slave masters wouldn’t be too big on. It helps that The Lady doesn’t really seem to be running The Maw with an iron fist, as all the employees are working independently from one another. There is no man with a whip to get on the Janitor’s and Chefs cases for taking breaks and enjoying their hobbies. They willingly do the work they are expected to, and have no outside intervention, unlike the Butler’s shackles.

This theory is legitimately really cool. The Little Nightmares universe is intriguing to say the least.

The Janitor didn't have relatives on the Maw. His description states that he "fled the world, a monster alone"

Six and Mono are going to save the world from the Tall man: Me, who just saw the ending: 😶😶😶😶😶😬😬😬😬

It’s so cruel how the tall man is the top of the hierarchy and yet he is the prisoner to the tower trapped in the loop of the signal. He may be in control but it’s not where he wants to be

My theory is that shadow six is the mysterious girl from the nest and when she passed on she would forever haunt six through her hunger

A few things, The Taxidermy guy is actually called The Hunter, the main land is called The Pale City, and Six and "The girl in the Yellow Coat" are not the same character.

Here's a theory: Everyone in the Little Nightmares world has some sort of supernatural/spiritual energy. But some have more energy than others which explains the predator-prey hierarchy in the game. Some people are born with very little and thus enslaved and those with enough to do things like levitate objects like The Butler are still enslaved but are not suffering like the Gnomes. While people like The Lady who can turn children into gnomes are given high positions such as overseeing the Maw. My guess is that this power is not hereditary and The Pretender was specially selected to inherit the position of the Lady. While the Hanging Man who was her father/guardian was brought along with her to the Nest to ensure she cooperates. When she died in Very Little Nightmares the Hanging Man hung himself knowing he won't be of any use to the people in charge as he was an ordinary person compared to the Butler. I came up with this theory when I thought of how Six's appetite became stranger as the first game went on. It's possible she went on without food for such a long period of time that she used the supernatural energy in her to supplement as food which leads to her lacking the supernatural energy needed for her body to function and was on the death's doorstep every time she got hungry. The piece of bread and sausage she ate satisfied her for the first two times she got hungry but they weren't enough for her need for supernatural energy that why she ate the rat and the Gnome later in the game. As living things they have their own stores of energy and were able to satisfy her to the extent that she needed more. It's also possible because of this Six has the ability to drain the energy out of others and use it for herself as we see with the Lady. She just need more energy to use her powers.

This is actually a super satisfying (for Little Nightmares, anyway) explanation of how the world seems to work in LN. Savage, merciless, and favoring the brutal and strong over the compassionate and/or weak. The *_only_* flaw I can find is that I don't think The Lady was actually in cahoots with the Signal Man; the reason I think this is in her own bio on the Little Nightmares website, wherein it states the following: *"Amidst the chaos of the world outside, The Maw is **_the only place_** that makes sense, and now this rumour of an escaped child threatens everything."* This one sentence not only shows that The Lady and her establishment are separated from the ongoings of the Mainland - The Lady considers the outside world chaotic and favors the apparently controlled and "sensible" (very hard air quotes there) of The Maw - but that Six ruining everything for The Maw only affected The Maw since that one bio heavily implies that The Lady isn't answering to any higher authority; a single escaped child wouldn't at all be a threat to the Mainland's network of brainwashed citizens, only a threat to the carefully-maintained stability of the isolated Maw. With these two points in mind - the idea of an escaped kid threatening the system only making sense if The Maw is self-isolated and separate entity, _and_ the fact that The Lady views The Maw as a sort of shelter against the outside world's chaos - it seems *_highly_* unlikely that The Lady either gave support and/or was supported by the Signal Man and his regime on the Mainland. If anything, this bio seems to tell us that she actually *_opposed_* the Signal Man's dictatorship and set up a smaller scale version of her own in the form of The Maw, freeing herself from the supposed chaos the Signal Man inflicts on his slaves while still subjecting her employees to a similar level of cruelty and oppression under her mystic powers. Other than this part, though, everything in the video matches up and is explained perfectly for any beginners to Little Nightmares! *Well done, sir!*

Mono's character design is really cool. A kid remained untainted despite the nightmarish mind-controlling dystopia he live in.

I like how says “They are going to end this cycle” not knowing that there actually is a cycle going on.

I hope they make a game called little dreams

I belive that there will not be a happy ending. I think that Six and Mono will become new regime the same way the Lady and that guy are.

From what I'm getting from this, children are an important cog in the system. Does that mean that whoever is controlling that tower is making women get pregnant and giving birth to children? With the whole mind control thing, it's not so far fetched that they would have a large baby making factory, and because they are newly born, they aren't susceptible to the mind control the tower is giving out which might explain Mono and Six and that mysterious girl in the Raincoat in Very Little Nightmares

This whole world is confusing and super dark- just imagine living in a world like this and trying to survive every day 😶 *That there is horrifying to think of* {Also I have a little note. The same TV that mono uses ( 11:46 ) can now be seen at the end of the little nightmares DLC. I don’t know if it was to show that little nightmares 2 is coming out or is Seven and mono linked in anyway?}

The theory is great but I still have one question. In the *Official Little Nightmare website* they stated that *The Maw* was the only place that actually made sense in this world and was considered a *“safe place”* compared to the *Mainland*

After all the times I've watched and re-watched Little Nightmares I have never seen that little shadow Six that appears when she eats until you pointed it out. That was a shock to me.

Has anyone noticed that the kid we see standing on the beach in the little nightmares two trailer is actually mono? if you look at his jacket you realize that that’s monos jacket not six

I still dont understand why they are so small, and just, the normal humans in this world, like the ones controlled by the broadcasts, are just normal size, when the children aren't. Im thinking either they really arent that small, and its just a illusion type thing, cause children feel generally small and scared when it comes to nightmares and people more powerful then them. Or they are just..made to be small when they are born?..cause of the hierarchy?..i feel like this one though, is kinda dumb and does not seem as neat.

The little nightmares universe is super fascinating to me, and the idea that the beings in this world became so grotesque after generations of being enslaved is a really good theory I haven't heard before.

I love all little nightmares theories, they created such a mysterious world with so much details for fans to speculate. It's all so dark and ruthless. If I live in this world, I would not :D I'm scared of everything :D

In the description of the character, didn't the Janitor run away to the Maw? I sincerely doubt he was raised there in a family that was there for generations.

After learning about Very Little Nightmares, I was skeptical about whether that was actually Six in LN2, or just the next wearer of the yellow raincoat, but if the game description says so, then I'll accept it for now. There is evidence that things in this world were not always as chaotic and horrifying as they are now, but it is clear that people and monsters with supernatural powers and grotesque mutations have shifted the balance and many minds have lost all sense of reason. I initially believed that the change in the world happened fairly recently, because otherwise the human race would have gone extinct if it continued to feast on their children. Which does beg the following questions: If the world is as messed up as it is and its inhabitants have turned into monsters, where did these seemingly normal children come from? Where are their parents? What happened to their parents? Are there still places in the world where people haven't lost all of their humanity? But then there is the matter of their names. Mono (One) and Six. Children being given numbers instead of names, as if they were objects, like currency as you described in the video. Did their parents give them these names or were they given after imprisonment? So many questions about a world that has fallen into ruin.

This made me love Little Nightmares even more. I need this game bro

If Six really possessed a degree of supernatural powers before taking from The Lady as you say, then it's possible that she herself was a candidate much like The Pretender and perhaps Mono but ran away and/or was deemed a failure to be disposed of.

He honestly was pretty accurate with the current conclusion considering the second game hadn’t even done out yet.

Does anybody remember when the studio couldn't even make up their mind if six was going to be called six? They're making this story up as they go trust that.

Now bear with me: A 4 player coop 3rd game with 7 choosable characters, each correlating to a deadly sin. Let’s say the amount of “hits” each character can take is different and they each fill a different niche. Like say Six is Gluttony (because hunger n stuff) and dies in one attack but she can shred enemies. Or say a Wrath character that can take 3 hits and is meant to be a frontline fighter protecting the other 3 players while they solve puzzles. Envy could choose which character the mimic out of the other 3 and basically stack them. A Sloth could be a biggun meant to take hits more than fight. Pride which I guess could be Mono can teleport or control enemies. Greed can see where puzzle items are or have some indicator for it. And lust could heal. But the plot of the game itself follows something like cleaning up the rest of the bad guys with the newfound allies with them becoming little nightmares.

theory: Thin Man and Mono exist in a time paradox, as it is revealed that Mono grows up to become the Thin Man after Six leaves him for dead in the Black Tower, trapping Mono in its depths and causing him to fester in resentment as he ages, creating an all-too-familiar monster. (Sry if im late but DUDE i love this video makes a lot of sense keep it up😄😄😄)

Random note. Humans do not evolve from apes/primates. We are related like distance cousins but we don't directly evolve from them.

Imagine if Six and Mono taking down the broadcaster was just another part of the cycle. Maybe instead of being groomed for the position the next in line is meant to literally take down the previous one and take their place.

I think that the enslavery theory (only as far as we are talking about the Maw, because it perfectly fits with the Nest's inhabitants) was brought on by the assumption some fans made about the "good nature" of the Janitor: some thought that he was trying to protect the children, and that he meant no harm. ... Which, I think, it's very dissonant with his actions. No one who wants to protect somebody also put them in suffocating cages, waits for them to be paralized with terror, wrap them and send them to the kitchen. ... Unless you have a very special conception of "tough love". Also, I think that the "evolution" theory explained in this video is, of course, interesting, but incorrect. From the few pieces of information we have about the Janitor, for example, we know that he himself consciously decided to retire from the outside world and live in the Maw. It's not a job he inherited by someone; there is no "janitor family". "With long forgotten things from long forgotten places, he fled the world and found The Maw. Now as The Janitor he is a tall tale hiding in the shadows, stalking the silence, a monster alone". For some reason i feel like this game has a symbolizem to real life. The teacher seems like shes a symbol of Children are forced to do the same things over and over again‚ becoming blank slates that people can influence. Therefore the blank headed dolls she teaches.

I love fact that in game where we have to encounter The Lady Six have same power as she, and when we have to fight with Radio Tower - dude Mono also have similar powers. *It's like a poetry, it rhymes*

Well I hope you can read my comment so this is my theory of this game. For me LN2 is a prequel to LN1 which means in LN2, it tells the story of Six before she was cast away in a suitcase and because of Mono she was rescued. Which means that the raincoat was the first time she wore it hence it continued in LN1 and also maybe the reason why Six betrayed Mono because maybe at the time Six was captured by the thin man, he told Six that he needed another replacement in his place because his time is running out or some sort hence why he said to Six that he wants Mono to be the one replacing him and maybe he threatened Six that may it be him or her or in other way the thin man told Six that he will give her a good life after he will betray Mono. I mean there is no other logical reason why Six would betrayed Mono at the first place. This game indeed is truly a masterpiece and I am pretty sure the developers will be able to push through a 3rd series of the game because of the amount of support of the fans giving to them and I hope the 3rd series will finally tell us the real story of Six and Mono and also why the world ended that way, what started it, why they are so big and why Mono and Six are small. Things like that need some answers and it gets me excited if they will put that on the 3rd series, if, they will decide it would be the final chapter of the game series. But still, nice game, nice story, the artwork , the sounds, the gameplay experience it is so good to say the least so kudos to the creators of this game and I hope you will be given the deserve recognition and support out of this game, chow! :)

I think you're forgetting the little teaser at the end of the dlc. Even being a teaser and all, still holds a connection to the stories
