In the past few months, a storm took us all by surprise and fundamentally changed the way we feel, the way we think, and the way we work. Today, we're discussing some of these corners of change, through the lens of some of the artists we love: Larkin Poe, Yvette Young, Sarah Lipstate, Cory Wong, and Radiohead's Ed O'Brien. How did these artists adjust to a new process?

Today begins the new seller fee. Thank you reverb for taking more money from struggling musicians. It's truly a help during these trying times.

I just meant like they've been making music for years super low-key. They record in a house they own (I believe). So they've probably been good this whole time. Not saying they can't get sick obviously

I love Cory Wong's explanation of his creative process: the more I'm creative, the more creative I get. Like a vine that continue to grow, rather than a gas tank that empties.

Great video. I have been working in my studio daily (actually, nightly). Since my music is synth-based, there are always new sounds to explore and find ways to utilize. It is way better to be absorbed in creating music than to be reading the daily barrage of bad news.

Amazingly I wrapped construction on my home studio mid February, so my lock down has been a dream creatively speaking. The hardest has been the few songs or projects that really need to be “people in a room jamming” for the vibe. Otherwise I’m happy tracking all the guitars from my little cave and shooting them to the cloud. However, the work/life balance when working from home can be tricky. That’s why I installed an electric fence. My kids hate the electric fence.....

Fantastic video! I'm definitely checking out Larkin Poe! Loved the little snipit I heard there. Super motivational! My newest endeavor in all the madness is tuning my guitar to New Standard Tuning (c,g,d,a,e,g). I thought why not, nothing to lose. This pandemic definitely brought out my creativity a lot more, I've never played music more then now. Like Yvette said it's been good because for once I don't feel like a lazy ass taking a break day from making music 🤣 Playing in nst taught me that you can literally tune your guitar (or bass or whatever instrument really) to anything and as long as you can play in that tuning, you're gonna have a good time. Here's some cool tuning options I've been playing in a lot! (Some of these are baritone/extended range tunings as well): B, F#, C#, G#, D#, F# G, D, A, D, G, B B, E, D, A, E, G C, F, A#, F, A#, D#, G, A#, C B standard (b,e,a,d,f#,b) And for bass: C,G,C,G A,G,C,G C#,F#,B,F# B,D,A,D,G,C,E (7 string bass tuning 🤓). Hope y'all find some of these useful :D

Yeh the depression hit me hard too, haven’t touched a musical instrument in months. I took a break from even thinking about music for about 2 weeks and I’m slowly getting back into it now. I’d say try not to beat yourself up or feel guilty for being unproductive, lots of us are in the same boat :)

I've been focusing more on exploring and sound design with no real agenda or plan as far as writing goes. It lets me get out of my head for an hour at a time and just let go.

The Breakfast Menu ya, a lot if this has taken the inspiration away. I just keep working at it. Try new things. Got on Jamkazam to play live with other people. Keep your chin up, this will all pass. Try to put the feelings back into the music.

This whole situation really sucks. As if musicians, in particular ones that create and or involved with guitar driven music, weren’t getting squeezed enough. Glad to see these folks getting by at least.
