not to be "that guy" but i put an cobra intake, exhaust and some cheap headers on my push rod 5.0 and i can push about 415 horsepower lol it's just corvette is still using a push rod motor created since dinosaurs roamed the earth.. it's sad they don't develop new better motors instead of dinosaurs
Factory weight was around 3100 lbs. That's very impressive that they were able to cut around 900 lbs from that figure all while reinforcing the f out of the chassis. This car is amazing.
@@saltyfloridaman7163 true i have 2 vettes and working on the body is funny and annoying seeing everything they did to cut down on weight there’s a reason these are so fast and it mainly is the power to weight ratio.
It’s because they’ve always tried on their reputation more than the actual product. This obviously shows as even though they’re one of the world’s “most elite manufacturers,” they are consistently falling behind in racing. Cars are still sick though, I mean I personally wouldn’t mind having a 458.
Same here. I recorded a lot on my DVR back then. Sad to see them not show it anymore (last i remember). I don't watch TV anymore, anyway. I just go on RU-vid, especially since I can comment on what I'm watching. 😁
Felipe: **talks about the drivers peeing in the car while he's sitting in it** Me: They probably cleaned it after the race Felipe: This C6R is in the same condition as when it left the track Me: hold up
I remember reading about the C6-R destroying the competition. At which point I was wondering why people were hating on the Corvette. I've always thought the Corvette was a phenomenal car even with the pushrod V8. They make amazing power and are fun to drive. Till this day, the car I will buy to track will be a C5 Z06. Even with all the crap plastics in the interior, garbage seats, and other BS. That's a great toss-able car to learn to drive fast in. Thank you Chevrolet Corvette team.
Remember hearing these things for the first time running around Mid Ohio years ago, coming down the backstretch when they downshifted into the "Madness" section you would hear the rumble half a track away... then they would come blitzing by in 1st... 2nd... and 3rd place nose to tail. Absolutely DOMINATING vehicles, thanks for the episode and memory stir!
“Oh wow you guys welded the cage in to the frame rails, what a good idea. I mean we have been doing this as standard practice for... ever” Every drag sanctioning body in USA
Only took like 70 years, good job America always leading innovation. Don't get me wrong, when the C7's debuted on the track I scotched my shorts. The sound of those engines minus restrictions absolutely murdered the Porsches and Beemers they were losing to. But they finally, after many decades caught up.
Corvette raced at le mans with a factory team for the first time in 1999, 2 years later they won. Seems pretty good to me. Keep on hating Americans for no reason 👍
@@Jakedrifts if they were going to do this using spec sheet (they did) then might as well make it easier for the viewers and compare its specs to the specs of its competitors. This video is basically Mr Goku tshirt man saying " corvette has a 7 litre 700hp engine with a very advanced aerodynamics system so it won a lot. Goodbye".....?
The sound is an understatement....the c6r and c7r sound was thunderous....you felt it through the ground and in your chest. It's a feeling that literally changes your anatomy it's insane
@@santi3991 AM owned by Italians, Land Rover and Jag owned by Indians, Lotus owned by the Chinese and Mini owned by the Germans, atleast you still have McLaren i guess
0:04 porsche never raced in gt1, they raced in the old form of gt1 in the 90’s but they never raced with corvette in gt1, they raced in gt2, which is basically gte now
couldnt disagree more... no character at all just reading a script and going through the motions, wish theyd stop hiring new presenters the original crew were the best
@@AndrewBrowner sorry you feel that way. I love the original guys too, but I can tell you being in front of a camera trying to talk about cars (or anything) is extremely difficult; even for the most extroverted of personalities. I definitely could sense his enthusiasm for all things automotive...it was there. I have been nervous in front of the camera before shooting a commercial for an automotive service department, and I was stunned at how difficult it was. I cannot imagine doing it in a second language! Looking at the videos that were posted a long time ago by Donut that featured James are very different. He grew into his automotive personality, and really found his footing. Of course it also didn't hurt that he was an actor well before getting this gig. Give Felipe some time, I'm sure he will get better with each opportunity that he's given to showcase a vehicle.
@@9ZERO6 If B2B wasn't already an established show with an expected style that would be fine and dandy. The problem is when we watch B2B we expect a lot of yelling and hype. Felipe isn't bad, he just doesn't fit the energy of the show. He needs a show of his own to find his camera presence.
@@SquirtlePWN ok, fair enough. But, shouldn't we give him a chance? This is a free show that we are addicted to, and it makes me smile to think that Filipe was living the dream doing this. Donut does not owe me anything. Remember, James was docile as hell in his first videos. It is amazing to see the transformation. Cheers.
I want to Die it was, it was one of the bonus cars you unlock when completing the career mode, and it’s a bonus car in red w/ orange window tint that you get if you have the black edition of the game
Give this guy a BREAK, he’s clearly new to this. It takes a while to build character and it’s clearly seen in the 2nd GTR video. I feel like he did a great job.
He's not new, he and the camera man Eddie did Prestado, a very underrated Donut Media show that only lasted 5 episodes. Maybe the hispanic accent and speaking is very far away from the other hosts but Felipe really did a great job here and Prestado, and it's nice to see new faces at the shows especially when James got sick
I love watching the Vettes at Limerock. You FEEL them pounding the ground on the way by (or vibrating the inside of the RV's bathroom.) In 2016 when they won their 100th race and 60th 1-2 they did the most bonkers burnouts on each part of the track for fans to see. You could hear them on the front strait from the back strait. I hope they'll sound the same with their new car. 🏁🏆
The majority of the things this video uses to describe the C6.R applies to every other race car from the era, but it makes it seem like the C6.R was a pioneer of some sorts. And the map isn't used cause drivers forget the track. We use the map because referring to individual turn numbers is the preferred system when communicating. At a track like the 'Nordschelife', this system is very useful for advising drivers of accidents ahead, Code 60 zones, etc.
NFS MW 2005? Yes, it's strange that nobody mention it, but everytime people talk about M3, they always mention the M3 GTR Race version (for me, the street version looks better)
Forgot to mention how the governing bodies handicapped Aston Martin / ProDrive out of contention while Corvette Racing kept sandbagging through scrutiny.
They also restricted the Viper, which slapped Corvette six ways to Sunday. Lmao. Remember that one race, where Corvette drove into the pit lane because they couldn't pass the Porsche? That was also a funny moment, in my opinion.
No, its like watching an adult child that never hit puberty. This guy is alot more mature and gets straight to the point without all the stupid gimmiks.
@@fernandoopoka8269 im a die hard Viper fan and id love a mid engine v10 viper. Hell i love the new vette. As motorsports enthusiasts, we sometimes need to put aside purity for performance. Can't knock the fact that EVs are at the cusp of being the fastest cars, regardless of our love of ICE engines
@@TheDarkPacific it's ok, im a viper fan too (but sadly i never saw one in real life) but i dont know man... im not a huge fan of the c8 vette... it dosen't look like a vette anymore, i dont want to see the same in a viper the car dosen't need a mid engine to be the fastest, and the C6.R C5.R GTS-R are the proof of that... just my opinion. Srry for my bad english
The race car only had 5.5L naturally aspirated due to class rules. What makes it more impressive is the engine only has 16 valves. They could have used a DOHC to gain more power at the 5.5L displacement cap. Their competition had 24-36 valves.
@@ChuckBeefOG Different car, bro. After everyone left the class they built a 5.5 and went after GT2. This was im the middle of the 2009 season and pissed off the entire GT2 field because the car was still OP AF.
You can't really use displacement to denote a small or big block. For example Chevrolet had a 348 cubic inch big block W head engine but also had a 428 cubic inch (7.0 liter LS7) small black. Another example: Pontiac had engines going from 326 all the way to 455 cubic inches, all based on the same block. And Ford had two engines with identical displacement of 351 cubic inches, one was based on a big block (Cleveland) and the other was based on a small block (Windsor). The block families were differentiated by the deck height. Not displacement. At least as far as Chevy is concerned. I believe Oldsmobile had big and small blocks, but the difference was the crank journals were bigger on the big blocks.
I’ve very curious why this video just now popped up for the first time 3 years later. I like this guy. He did a very good job and was entertaining without being obnoxious. Why have I not seen him anymore?
They just needed air!!! To this day, I contend if the C6-R had been able to run unrestricted it would have challenged the P1-1s. And as far as Aston Martin besting the C6-R, they added 200 pounds and a smaller air restrictor to the Corvette. So it was rule booked. 😡
@@MBailey1977 sorry for your loss, Porsche destroy them, now they are history, team announced that they will retire, so is not the car, is legacy, Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, BMW, they will keep getting better till the point that American cars will end the pursue of endurance racing
absolutely LOVE corvettes... you can get a taste of what it means to own a supercar, and you don't have to be rich to do it. my c6z51 is insanely reliable. the feeling that you get when you drive a vette is very special - you have this brutal muscle car that is capable of heroic handling and eye-popping braking. good job, GM!
though to give it credit, it won Spa 24 twice in 2007 and 2009 (something the DBR9 wishes it had), and yeah they still challenged Maserati in the championship (to no avail)
Yo!!!! i remember this corvette being wayyyy overpowered in racing games back in the day as well!!!! It's handling in games were soo good it was Unbelievable specially cause Nobody bought this c6 lms and instead saved up for a Ferrari or a lambo super trofeo(but little did they know😏😏)😂😂.
