How To: 15$ Alternator Repair Toyota 2uz (4runner, Tundra, GX470, Sequoia)

Today I'm replacing the alternator brushes on a Lexus gx470 as routine maintenance. The car has 262k miles, and the brushes typically wear out around 3-350k
OEM new units are 5-700$, auto parts stores have them for 225$ ish.
Let me tell you, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.....
Instead of using a inferior quality part, I recommend servicing your failing unit. 98% of the time alternator failure is the Brushes being worn out
What are brushes? Beats me! But I know how to change them!!!
PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS CAREFULLY!
FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN INCORRECT PARTS!
Tundra/ Sequoia 4.7 AND 3.4 5vz brushes (and many more cars)

Damn… engineers and mechanics need to fuckin hang out more. Thats insane accessing it compared to other cars that have it sitting right on top the engine.. whatever. Nice vid. Really clear on EACH step. Most vids suck ass and skip a step or don’t actually show what bolt/nut… or do the process unnecessarily… work smarter not harder!! Nice vid!!

I figured I would post my unrelated question on your most recent video so you’re more likely to see it. Thank you for the videos. They are really helpful when you’re doing things on your own at home. Your Subaru engine swapping videos are the best I found on RU-vid to help with my at home driveway engine swap on my 09 outback. Now it’s time to find an engine to go back in. I have a quick question for you. All the junkyards I call say I need an engine out of a manual transmission outback because mine is manual. In your video it sounds like it doesn’t matter and I just need to swap over the timing belt guide and maybe a couple of other things. Is there anything else? And am I good to just buy any compatible year engine, regardless of transmission? , Thank you and keep the videos coming.

I don’t know why I didn’t get notified on this, sorry about that. You need a 06+ with vvl, avcs, V-TEC. Whatever you want to call it. Use your intake, harness, timing belt drive, and cam gears
