How to Add Gmail Account to Outlook 2023? | How to Setup Outlook with Gmail in 2023 or Later

Here in this video, I am showing how to set up your gmail account to outlook in 2023 or later after the less secure app section has been revoked by google. Using this method you can add your email to outlook.

To add your gmail account to outlook, now you need to enable two factor authentication on google security settings and then you need to generate an app password. In this video I am explaining how to add the gmail to outlook from scratch.
These steps are the same whether you're adding your first Gmail account or additional Gmail accounts to Outlook.
Select File - Add Account.
Enter your email address and click Connect.
Outlook will launch a Gmail window that asks for your password.
but in password section you need to provide app password you generated.

Does anyone know why Outlook 2016 would still need this "App password" trick to successfully add a Gmail account? I read on several websites that Office 2016/2019/2021 all support OAuth, so why can't it work directly with Gmail with your original Google username and password? I can't seem to understand that.

The problem is I'm not about to set up 2 step verification for gmail. It was a total pain when apple pushed it onto me by stealth (they lock your account and then try and sneak it past you when you unlock) and I had to read text messages and copy codes all the bloody time (I deleted the applie ID and created a new one in the end). So if that's the only way to get gmail; on outlook, I'll dump gmail and use a more accommodating email service.

I'm trying to add gmail in as a new account in outlook (not the first account like you are doing here) and the steps you've shown dont work. You dont get to put the app generated password in anywhere, it asks you to logon onto google normally and then fails. Give it a try. Just letting you know so you can keep your video up to date.

Very helpful. Now, I have another question. I use my Gmail to aggregate email from two other accounts using POP3. I do this because GMail does a good job of eliminating the spam and junk. But I don't want to use the GMail interface, because I need Outlook for work. So it's a bit of a confusing set-up, but it has worked. The problem is when I am in Outlook and I reply to a message, it now shows my Gmail address in "From". It used to reply from whichever account the original message was addressed to. I don't know what changed, but do you know how I can get Outlook to NOT use the Gmail address when replying to messages?

This was nice indeed to get my main Gmail account working again. However, I have 3 in Outlook accounts and I cannot duplicate it for the other 2. I tried using the same generated password and I also tried creating additional Outlook app passwords and other combinations of these with no luck. My main account continues to work flawlessly. This works for both IMAP & POP3 Gmail servers.... Just make sure you have the correct port specified for the servers, as it changes between IMAP and POP3. Until Google and Microsoft come up with another way to make their worlds incompatible.
