Hi all,
Due to the recent changes in google security policies, outlook is keep asking for gmail password and the requests are being rejected by Google.
So in this video, I am showing how to fix the authentication error issue in outlook for gmail or google email.

So we need to enable 2 factor authentication on gmail and enable the app password to fix the issue with gmail sign in outlook.
Here I am illustrating this completely - To solve this problem, you need to enable IMAP and use App Password to log in.
Although the IMAP should be enabled by default, you still should check the settings.
Open your Gmail account, click on the settings gear icon visible on the top-right corner, and select Settings. Switch to Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
Then you have to google account settings and from there you need to enable 2FA and App password.

Thank you very much sir. Your video was easy to follow. In essence: enable 2 step verification with Google, generate an app password (write it down too in case it will not cut and paste), and then type in the new password on Outlook when the annoying box comes up. Countless people must be having this issue, now that Google will not support less secure apps (as of May 31), such as the older versions of Outlook. I tried using Gmail for a few days while I figured this out, but I have been using Outlook for so long and I'm used to it. Also, although Gmail has some nice intuitive features Outlook is easier to sort through and arrange if you have 1000s of emails to keep organized. I subscribed to your channel. Bravo!

Finally, success (using Outlook 2013). This is SO SIMPLE compared with the registry hacks, re-installation fixes, you must upgrade to current Office suggestions, and "it can't be done" experts. Thanks so so much Muhammad. I wish there was a 10x thumbs up button!

Thanks for the video with the full step-by-step documentation. I had spent several hours not fixing the problem until I stumbled across your video. It fixed my Outlook 365 pop3 problems. The unfortunate error message only indicated that there was something wrong with my login credentials. It would be appropriate for google to give a more helpful error message, along with a link to the solution. I'd vote for your page to be in the error message, but we know how well that suggestion would be received.

Many thanks as it was driving me nuts! It has taken me all day to resolve this issue and I was able to thanks to your video. I am using Outlook 2007 and the only thing that I found different was that I had to change my Incoming Mail server back to POP rather than IMAP as on IMAP the synchronization resulted in a header download issue. I deleted the old IMAP account in Outlook, created a new POP account and used your procedure to create a new google app password and then used it when that annoying 'Enter Network Password' box was displayed. It was a great relief to see that I was receiving my messages again.

Thanks so much for these extremely useful instructions! I called Microsoft for assistance and the online support website said I would receive a call in 9 minutes. Never heard back so I put in another request. Got a call the next day and described the issue and the call was disconnected! I would never have figured this out on my own! I'm running 2013 Outlook. And pretty much thought I would have to upgrade to at least to 2019 Outlook for a $ amount. Or copy all folders to a .PST file and export over which would have taken hours. But this worked the best. Its the easiest, fastest and the cost is zero and worked exactly as you instructed.!!!! Thank you much. exactly what I was looking for. My 7yr old granddaughter could have easily got this done. You would think Google would have informed us about this procedure.

thanks for your help. out of nowhere my outlook started asking for the password over and over. i, unfortunately, found your tutorial very late in my effort to fix but better late than never. the only thing i would add is that if your two-step verification is off you don't get the option for the app passwords which was confusing at first but i finally figured out that i should turn it on. thanks again.

Thank you soooooooooo much!!! I was so irritated that gmail stopped working w/Outlook 2010 via PoP3 that I was considering using a different email provider. I attempted IMAP because I noticed it was still an available configuration option in gmail, yet my password would never authenticate and at the same time, they removed the "allow less secure apps" feature, so I was nearly done with gmail. You literally saved my day because I use Outlook extensively and now, I can continue to use it "with" gmail via IMAP and this 2-Step workaround, so I couldn't be more pleased. Thank you for being awesome!

I'm still using Outlook 2007 and ran into this new Google password issue having absolutely no idea what was causing it. I thought it was finally time to throw in the towel and use the Chrome Gmail interface, which I dislike so much I still use a version of Outlook from the second George W Bush administration, but your fix worked perfectly. Hi Jeffrey, I am also using Outlook 2007 and starting yesterday June 7th gmail no longer recognizes my logon. I followed the instructions on this website but I have had no luck and am ready to give up on Outlook altogether. Before I do can you tell me if you are using POP3 or IMAP and what server settings you are using. Also were you able to paste the app password into the Outlook accounts setup or did you just type it in. The instructions say to cut and paste but I can't paste into the accounts setup. Please let me know if you have any suggestions beyond what is in the video. Thanks much.

Hi Muhammed, very clearly explained thanks a lot. One more question, previously I could link different email to the same PST file (outlook.pst). Now after this modification it creates a different PST for the gmail account (my_email.pst). In the outlook properties - advanced I would like to change the destination PST to use the common one, but I don't succed (the destination file and path are kind of locked). Any idea?
