Hello, Matt. I have never seen any videos of you and it is good to see that unlike most electrical videos you are using EMT. I love working with EMT. I have to say your explanations of the work are good. There are a few areas where you can be corrected, but overall good job. Thank you.

You could always do 2x 20a circuits so that you reduce the load by sharing it. Should be able to feed 6x 14awg stranded wires thru one conduit. You can also predrill the holes for the tapcons with a smaller bit a step down from the size of the screws. That'll get it to bite without breaking concrete. Thanks for the video!

If you are an electrician and never do conduit, the electricians who work with conduit are a step above all electricians that do not work with conduit. Working with conduit is a skill.@@HTMR

I thought I was golden at my last house, outlets in the garage galore...but then I soon realized they were tied into all sorts of other places in the house they should not have been. I bought the conduit, never installed it, thankfully because I sold the house. So now I bought my current home and am using your video as a refresher. Luckily I have drywall walls. so it will be easier for me to mount everything. Thanks for the vid.

That single circuit would also be really useful for an EV… just switch it to a 20A 240v breaker and put in a NEMA 6-20R outlet. You can then safely use it with up to a 16A level 2 EVSE. NAPA Auto Parts was selling a Schumacher unit with NEMA 6-20 for $100 a few months ago. You can also adapt a 16A AmazingE (240v NEMA 14-30P) or the 12A GM version of the same ClipperCreek Gen2 EVSE board (120v NEMA 5-15P to 240v NEMA 6-20P). Kawasaki is set to announce a new EV and hybrid motorcycle in November… less than a month away!

Great job. Fixing to mortar is the weakest part of any wall. A laser level (green) would have been a good idea here. I prefer to have my pipe off the wall as it’s easier to maintain and saves doing all those offset bends. Here in U.K. we can use plastic conduit and plastic sockets which I think is wrong as it’s a work area open to abuse.
@HTMR

I used a mortar line as a "level". They make clamps to keep the pipe off the wall, that is how I did it in my old garage and kept getting snagged on it as it stuck out more. I prefer the nice tuck against the wall. Just a little more work.

In the US you can also use PVC schedule 80 when a cable would be "subject to physical damage" i.e. under 8 ft. It doesn't have to be electrical metal tubing or thicker metal conduit.

But yeah, mortar is basically harden sand, screw into the face of the brick

My motorcycle will only run with full choke for the first 3-5 minutes. I can slowly reduce the choke, but it have to stay a bit open to keep running. Do you think it's running lean, or could the jets be clogged?

How much pipe length do you lose when you bend it for the box connects, especially the box-to-box? Do you have to account for it and cut your pipe say an inch longer than 7 ft so you can have your 7 ft gap?
@HTMR
@HTMR Год назад
Yes, there are tables/formulas for the "shrink" or length lost when bends are created.

Is it necessary to get an inspector to inspect your work?

Technically......yes.

Do you need a permit to add these.

Probably

Most areas have exceptions for single family owners to do this without permit.

Never drill into the mortar. Always the block. Block is stronger.
@HTMR

Tapcons seem to strip out in the hollow section of cinder block far too easy for me.

@@HTMR Slice off a few slivers of pressure treated board, drill a hole and tap the wood slivers into the hole (similar to a plastic anchor) then just use any appropriate screw into the wood filled hole. Cheap, convenient and rock solid. Old school carpenter taught me that 25 years ago. Saves money and a possible trip to the store for tapcons or wall anchors. 👍
@HTMR

@@brustertootwopointo4644 I've used small pieces of string trimmer line on stripped tapcons. Same principal.
