Hello, I have 2 set of carbs for 79 & 77 Kawasaki kz 650. I like to have them soda blasted, ultrasonic clean and rebuilt. How much would you charge to do them both? Thanks
Use 40:1 More oil means more maintenance. Use 40:1 even in break in. I’ve tested this over and over Ive been running 2 stroke engines for 15 years.. the manual is bogus. Thank me later
Omg! Dude turn the drill to low speed at least. Way way to fast and you gotta open it up more and more often to keep good grit in t the cut. And secondly reverse direction after 5 seconds or so.
the article was in cycle world magazine and was done by gordon jennings in the 70s who was regarded as the god of 2 stroke power. in his book "two stroke tuners handbook" he explains that lubrication of the cylinder walls reduced friction thus more power and stated that a change of jetting would clean up the speed of burn ergo more power again once this book became available in australia you could find it in nearly every competitors library but they would never tell anyone where they got it. after a lot of reading welll reading it over and over and over the mist of fog dissipated and the bikes i were tuning suddenly became killers in the hp power kingdom. his book is really valuable a world of knowledge but alas the greeny wankers and the doomsday people have almost killed off 2 strokes , but it was the power of 2 strokes that chewed up moto gp tyres and killer dirt bikes like cr 450 hondas 500 yamahas and 500 kawasakis all made brutal hp and torque to the point that few competitors could handle these machines and so 4 strokes came back in almost double the capacity of 2 strokes to equal the same hp i still have 2 suzuki 250s and they make considerable torque for the work i put into them and are slightly less powerful than todays bikes but at 75 i just like to blip the throttle and effortlessly climb over the log on my way up the mountain
When i was a kit i had a 2 cycle 50cc scooter and sometimes i would run out of gas while im on the way to a friend's house and i would say screw it and just run straight gas in it. I still have the motor right now and it runs just fine. I dont recommend doing this for a dirtbike engine or a built racing engine. Also i never bought 2 cycle mix i just used new fresh normal car oil. 😂
I’m going to visit your website to see where you mentioned if popping or rumbling on deceleration , and or if a backfire snap after full throttle then let off snap, seems somewhat healthy or not? And side note how important is backpressure(a metal screen on end exhaust is just for dirt or really important)? U r a genius
This Harbor Freight Compression Test Kit is garbage!!! The video is 100% correct and does a great job of explaining why the gauge readings are incorrect. I used it on a 4 stroke 2 cylinder motorcycle engine that I just completely rebuilt with all new parts - pistons, rings, bearings and valve job etc etc. The compression test with the harbor Freight Test Kit was was 115 lbs. which was way low for a newly rebuilt engine. I was bummed! I used it on another newly rebuilt motorcycle engine and it was also low. After the second test I started to figure something else was wrong. I found several items on the web describing low compression readings with the Harbor Freight Gauge. I purchased a new gauge made in America by a well known company. Surprise Surprise! My reading on the engine was not 115 lbs but 175 lbs! Thank you for spreading the word!
Great video and assist! I trying it with the carb on the bike now. I took the seat/tank off and the top motor mount brackets. Am hoping there is clearance to pull the needle out without removing the whole carb! Thanks!!
Hi! I actually bought the same cheap gun in china. Unfortunately the hose for the sand isn’t getting any sand at all, in fact, it’s blowing the other way around, what could be the problem?
So this is good info but what keeps that screw from falling out? Cause mine is loose and rattled out and gone forever , almost prefer factory one so that it doesn’t fall out, or was mine old and warm out?
Hi, when i went to ride my bike the other day the gears wont shift when moving or stationary. Im not sure why its doing it as i was out on it just hours before and it was fine. Any ideas of how to fix it? Thanks
Wow excellent Matthew, I have been mechanic on these for 55 years but some mixture screws didn't give me the proper response..you have taught me how to better decide the pilot jet configurations..Who says you cant teach an old dog new tricks..lol Oh by the way..the carbs are already synchronized before this video?..Yes? Liked and subscribed..thank you very much. Peter
Great information and well presented. I just got a used crf450x that smells like it runs rich and even runs like it runs rich and even when the engine is cold it starts better with the hot start lever pulled lol. I’ll be trying just what you did tomorrow. I’m guessing I may need to go to a smaller pilot as rich as it seems, but we’ll see.
I have bad vibration in my handle bars and my feet, been that way since I bought it used, could it be bottom end bearings, rode my buddies 2008 450 ktm and its so smooth.
When I was a kid in 1974 I had a '72 Yamaha CS5 200 electric, later renamed as the RD200. The auto-mixer was set to too high of a ratio so every now and then it would oil foul the spark plugs. It would be running and all of a sudden you'd hear, Pffffffffttttttt, and it would start to stumble and die. Could not restart and you could not resurrect the spark plugs no matter how much you tried to clean them. We had to buy a lot of new spark plugs. A guy in my high school had a Kawasaki triple 400cc bike that would do the same thing. Also, my Homelite weed trimmer gave me all sorts of trouble and oil fouled the plugs until I reduced the oil amount. So I'm not on board with what this guy is saying. To me less oil is good because the S.O. B. at least will run instead of just sit in your garage.
