Why does this work for me. This is the 5th tutorial I've watched, a couple different steps in this one, but everything still has numbers on my title page and contents page. I hate microsoft's clunky programs.

Thank you for the great topic suggestion! I will definitely add it to my list. In the meantime, here are the directions: Click inside the header or footer and then select Insert > AutoText > Page X or Y.

Thank you for your quick reply! Oh my goodness I cannot see where it says auto text. What I ended up doing was clicking on Insert, Footer, Semaphore. I have been a lifelong windows user and recently got a Mac which I really do like, but I do find it a little bit challenging because things don’t work the same lol

Is there anyway to change formats? Like Accent bar 2? I know we can do it in Windows PC. But can’t figure out for MAC

That's a great question! Word for Mac doesn't offer the same page number choices as the PC version. However, if you go into the Header menu instead of the Page Number menu, you'll find a few formatted page number choices. Thank you for watching!

If you could do a video on this problem I can either add page numbers or a footer to my document I cannot add both. as soon as I after I add my page numbers then go to adding a footer, my page numbers disappear and vice versa.

I started a document without setting up page numbering now when I try to set up page numbering my document starts over with page 1 at different pages. I want consecutive page number from beginning to end but I don't know what is preventing that.

Thank you for watching! It sounds like your page numbers may be restarting in each section or chapter. To check if that is happening, double-click in the header or footer area to open the Header & Footer tab and then see if "Link to Previous" has been unchecked (turned off).

But I don’t want page one to be numbered but I want page 2 to be numbered page 2

Thank you for watching! You can remove the page number for the first page and start page 2 with the number 2 by selecting the Insert tab, the Page Number button, the Page Number option from the drop-down menu, and then deselecting "Show number on first page" in the Page Number dialog box. I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble. Which version of Microsoft Word are you using? The steps shown here are for Word on a Mac (not iPhone or iPad).
