Great video man! I usually try to follow the „one-in-one-out“ rule, but not with a specific number of pieces. Of course not the right thing if you want to build a big wardrobe, but I think if you already have a lot of items it‘s a good way to not lose the focus. On the topic of building a wardrobe: I‘m really into Acne Studios & I think that’s a brand that really helps you to build a wardrobe with amazing, high quality staples.. They have a super wide spectrum from classic stuff to some crazy runway pieces. Retail is already super fair & you can get their stuff second hand for good prices, too. If you select your items right & take good care of them you won’t lose any cash 🤙🏼

Wow. Really loved this video of yours. Keep up the good work. Will try to apply some techniques of yours into my closet rotation. Greeting from Frankfurt

Buy a really beautiful shoe rack, and only keep that rack filled, sell a pair of tornados if you want a pair of drips, vice versa. (Dont include running shoes and utility ones)

I agree with you. I buy what I love--not like. Buy key pieces to enjoy for years and if you take care of it, it shows.

Great video and your thoughts align with mine very much. When I talk about these kind of things with some of my friends do you think it's crazy that I think about purchases of clothing as inventory items or Stocks that I buy and resell But I do think that is the smart thing to do to be able to not lose a lot of money while still wearing some really good stuff. Only two downsides that I see with doing all of this is firstly as you mentioned some of the pieces that you end up keeping which are expensive so you definitely lose money on those and a lot of money. Secondly it's the added stress of wearing expensive pieces if you constantly think about reselling them so that you are wearing them carefully enough to not destroy them or mark them. When I say added stress I also mean for example adding some scuffs to shoes which reduce resale value and at that point you were thinking how much did it cost me to wear this time when I added this big mark on this pair of shoes Surely something that you definitely intended to sell after some use. I think there is a healthy balance that can be had with doing this process.

I have done the buy one, sell one philosophy the last couple of years and it works great! If I want a piece of clothing or a pair of shoes I have to get rid of something from my wardrobe. That way my wardrobe keeps changing and you have to decide if you really want that certain piece :))

My approach is a mix of buy/ressell with limited loss and replacement. Started to build my high end wardrobe back in 2006 and I was a big sneakerhead as.well, the type who buy and wears em but very careful.... I have been able to keep up by selling some staples that I didnt want anymore and also buy selling my collector kicks since I was not wearing them anymore. I still have to many « fast fashion » items in the closet, but triming it down as well. I am just getting into the « darker » side of fashion but really enjoy the work of the artisanal brands.
@DavidMoseer
@DavidMoseer 3 года назад
haha "the darker side" - thats awesome. Yeah man, its a slow process to exchange fast fashion stuff for quality pieces.. I have been there as well.. Patience is the key I guess.

This is awesom and very similar to how i started i was fortunate enough to have parents that at one point in my life bought me a pair if jordan 3s in 2012 in 2013 i sold them so it was a 100% profit for me (yes i felt like shit) i made money. Invested it in tk more shoes and kept climbing then got into thrifting i did that till 18 while selling streetwear and now have a great artisanal collection that i take pride in. I owe it all to my Amazing parents. No they are not rich and never were. I grew my collection from a great gesture from them that they worked hard for.

I use a similar concept to the buy-one-sell-one as I will sell something of a certain value and use that money to buy something new. However, I allow an "upgrade fee" which is usually around $100-$200 to upgrade my closet. I do take in to account the wear that goes into each item when I sell. Most of the time it is pretty difficult to get the same or more amount of money back as I paid so, I rationalize that by paying for the wears. Right now I'm just looking for new items based on versatility and wearability. Items that can go with most things I already have and can be worn a lot (quality).
@DavidMoseer
@DavidMoseer 4 года назад
Wow thats pretty sophisticated man! Do you have an excel sheet or something similar to track the incoming and outgoing items?
@nicolasfarnsworth9486
@nicolasfarnsworth9486 4 года назад
David Moseer An excel sheet would be better but I just use notes in my phone currently. I can do the math and keep track of it all in my head but I use notes mainly to show others that I’m not actually spending that much in clothes and shoes lol

Hey David! I'd drop the intro altogether. I think they're obnoxious. Since your overall production quality is high its unnecessary. BTW, you're going to love the next% i've got 500mi in them already and they're great all-around trainers for walking and races! Greetings from USA

@@DavidMoseer Yes! I believe Nike rated them for about 250-300 miles but i've been wearing them HARD and theyre holding up. Yes the glue connecting the sole is coming off just slightly but a minor change thats not affecting wear. I also just got the adidas "gardening pack" in white. Check them out if you haven't. Theyre very slept on.I think you'll like. I'm a CCP 8 BTW in case you're ever looking to sell or buy! Peace

Because you mentioned the grailed fees, I highly recommand to check out jawnflip.com. Same concept, only PP fees, additional functions which grailed still dont have and even a import option for grailed listings. Unfortunately it is not known very well yet therefore i promote it here ;) There are also some decent tech-wear and avantgarde sellers. I was a steady grailed user but the fees are ridiculous now especially if you are from Europe and have to deal with other additional costs.

If I don't wear something for months on end even though I love it then there is no point in keeping it so it's best to sell.
