This is the first video of Week 2 of our "How to Shoot A Pistol Accurately" video series. Today, we continue by sharing how to aim and shoot faster, focusing on dry fire exercises. On Thursday, we will release live fire exercises that you can try out at the range to validate and reinforce your dry fire practice.
If you missed the first two videos from Week 1, you could watch them here:
Week 1 (Dry Fire): • How to Shoot A Pistol ...

So I've been shooting my entire life, shot my first gun at 8 years old and I still have that very .22 bolt action. I would say I'm a fairly good shooter as well, not a green beret but I've been shooting for about 12 years ish. I still followed along with what he was saying. You're never too experienced or too good a shot to go over the basics. There will always be room for improvement.

I shot horribly the last time I went to the range recently. I think locking the wrists was what I was failing to do, because I remember relaxing my grip to concentrate on my eyes focusing on the sights and target. I'm just now learning to shoot with both eyes open and it aint easy!

For people dry firing, my suggestion is that you either put up painters tape on a wall that is in a safe direction or you print out the dry fire targets from Baer Solutions. You can also print out the cold start drill you are working on if you want to work that.

Hey Myles you probably don’t remember me but I was one of ur Bjj students at LA boxing in San Diego and that was about 15 years ago since then trained with Baret yoshida and now with James Populo in Oregon. I shoot and practice with handguns frequently and wanted to say thanks for introducing me into Bjj and I’m still doing it and glad. Good to see ur doing other stuff and good content keep up good work professor!!!!

I see that you do an arc motion from holster towards the target . have you tried to bring both gun and support hand to your chest level and then present the gun in a parral to the ground movement towards the target ? I find this is alot more effiecient and once completed I always find my sights on target . Basically you are doing an arc motion and I am doing a 90 degree motion . Holster to chest - chest forward towards target

I always have to fish for the sights on my 19, but I don't even have to open my eyes and it'll be perfectly aligned on my 43x
@chriscan6584
@chriscan6584 Год назад
By enforcing muscle memory to make sure the sights are aligned, do you recommend just having one reliable firearm for conceal/open carry? At the range, it's not unusual to see shooters bring several pistols to shoot and they handle differently from grip, angle, trigger pull etc
@anthonyjimenez9725
@anthonyjimenez9725 Год назад
Ideally, yes. You want to stick to one manual of arms, doing so your sight picture will be consistent, ergonomics of pistol are consistent, ultimately you will be consistent with a single firearm. I'd say pick a rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun that you want to be your main squeeze. Not to say you can't use other firearms, but you train the way you fight. If you practi w with a revolver, but carry a semi auto you will be inconsistent with your edc

Practice your draw stroke a ton and connect the movements... I think modern samurai has a video with all the different movements broken down into segments. It’s like a golf swing you need to study and know every part of it and also fluidly string it together. And when somethings not right and you can slow down and self-correct your in a great place.
