HOW TO ALIGN ANY DRIFT CAR! (FIXED!)

In todays video I talk about aligning drift car! We're not going to go into details on how to setup a chassis completely, but in this video we will explain how to set up camber, caster, and toe in the front and back of a drift car and what it does. Enjoy and make sure you check out my other how to videos to get the whole setup. This one is easy to just listen to as well, like a podcast.
If you’d like some info on the custom shock setups that I build, shoot an email to orderdriftparts at gmail.
AAAAND I just realized It didn’t include the caster part of the conversation… So we’re going to have to add this back into it.
AAAAND we uploaded a new video! SO THIS IS IS CORRECT NOW.

This is why he's so good at drifting, he understand suspension dynamics and implements it in his driving style and adapts it to the track. It's not just all driver "skill" also mechanic know how. Chelsea this isn't complicated, people that are not the "masses" appreciate these in depth topics. I've been working, driving, and setting up my own cars for over 16 years now. And there is always more to learn from people dedicated to their sport and niche. For example that 0 camber at 60% angle tip is just what I needed to learn, and to confirm my thoughts on suspension angle and how the car reacts during drift. My alignment feels spot on but will check for 0 camber at 60%

This is probably one of the best videos and explanations I have watched about how alignmet effects how the car steer. I have been fighting where my car will want to snap to full lock when I am driving agressivly behind a car on faster tracks (like Texas Motor Speedway) and wanting to spin on fast transitions. Now I have a basic understanding on caster and akerman when before I was pretty much just guessing and driving around an issue.

This was awesome! I learnt something with ideal values for Ackerman and caster and I'm keen to have a play with my 2 knuckle setups. Something you didn't touch on was setting up the rear for a live axle car, my Aussie Ford Falcon is a parallel 4 link with a watts, and I was hoping to learn about how where you want roll centres for drifting (front and rear) and the ideal amounts to roll the diff angle for grip. Thanks for the video 😊

Made it halfway through the first one and was super bummed when it was taken down… Quick clarification, when you’re talking about setting camber at 60% steering… I didn’t understand what you meant by lead tire. Would that be lead once you’ve transitioned and are back in drift? So drifting around a left turn, your turned back to the right, your passenger tire would be the “lead” and that’s what you set to zero camber? Either way, love the technical break down videos. Your technical understanding and willingness to share is one of the things that drew me to you as a fan.

Hello, I just thought I’d share an opinion from an old grass Ridge drifter. Take a car like the 240 SX before you start putting money into power and everything else like that start with coil over sway bars. The suspension car has enough power to drift very very well on the stock KA motor, it just needs the proper differential which is a disco potato in my opinion about two to $3000 worth of suspension parts probably less. Anyway that’s my old fart knocker opinion. Rant over.

Apologies for the long message lol... Great video as always Chelsea 👌 Could you do a specific video on the ideal front and rear setup for an e36 to just make it a nice practice car? Not a compact... But a coupe/saloon setup. Like what ride height works best (without worrying much about looking good), toe for a nice linear not super aggressive lap, ackerman and castor that you feel has a nice balance between self steer and you still giving input. Could be an idea to do a video like this for a few different cars you drive often. I know every persons driving style is different, and every track is different, but i think it could help people try an already used setup and see if it's better or worse for them and they might learn something from it handling wise. I'm asking this as me and a few of my friends have e36/46 chassis and drive together often but we all have different ideas on setups and the cars all drive different. For example my car is very smooth and has a little more grip exiting corners but i can't throw my car into the corner as aggressively as the other cars. Would be nice to have them all reasonably even and have a baseline setup that we know works, then adjust it from there to suit our driving styles, our tandems might be a little more consistent then and we could enjoy that a little more instead of constantly over thinking about 'being slower here and more aggressive there' to make up for the different setups. Thanks.
