No, that's just what dubbin does unfortunately. It soaks into the leather and darkens it, like how a wet shirt is darker

hi, just wanted to ask how many times do you clean your boots with dubbin? like once a week or?

@@aldisnutz I never use it for cleaning. Just to protect them from snow and rain and keep the leather healthy. Long winters up north... if your feet started to feel damp.. then it was time to apply the Dubbin again and let it soak in overnight so that you could wear them the next morning. If the temperature was -10 Celsius or anything lower than that... then we rarely used the Dubbin. But if the temperature was hovering around the freezing mark, then we had to use it whenever your feet felt damp. If you are working outside all day in that "warm" weather, then you might have to dry out your boots and then reapply the Dubbin every couple of nights.

@@colettemcbeath3477 If you start to feel damp it usually means the waterproof membrane has become damaged and it's time for a new pair, applying dubbin depends on usage, every week/couple of weeks for constant use or monthly if you only wear them say on the weekends. Like you say it should never be used for cleaning, only used for protecting clean leather.

Washing is for sure necessary and he isn't drying them with the hair dryer he is heating the leather to open the pores, allowing the dubbing to absorb better and also making the wax spread easier.

Polish will keep the next coat of Dubbin you apply from soaking into the leather..avoid polish..just use dubbin

Use a hot air gun and or leave in the sun on a hot day, stick in a warm oven, put next to a heater, um breath heavy on them the choice is endless
