Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Pls when is the appropriate time to start watering my yam in sacks after planting. And when should I start applying fertilizer to the new planted yam in sack.
Please at what stage do you apply fertilizer or organic manure( chicken dropping). I am from the South East ,Imo State a rainforest area ? Thanks for everything.
A great video. Please try to wear gloves while handling any chemical. Wear gloves before touching fertilizer. Use gardening tools to scoop from the bag. Observation of Health, Safety and Environmental rules is very important.
Thanks for these enlightenment, its really educational But 1. At what time of the year do you plant or could it be anytime you want, considering those that live in the eastern part of nigeria with tropical rainforest vegetation. 2. When (time) do you apply fertilizer. Is there no timing period from planting?
What time of the day or age of the yam planted before the fertilizer application? Also, how did you make the yam stake in plating yams in bags?Is it in rolls or circular form, or one stake for about six or eight heaps of yam? Please explain.
First I want to say thank you for this educative tutorial video, now my question is what time of the year is best for planting yams or considering the yam in bags method, can yams be planted at any time of the year as long as it gets the required appropriate amount of water, fertilizers/nutrients and care
Usually at the beginning of raining season because the condition for sprouting are met easily at this period. But if you can recreate condition to induce sprouting i believe you can plant anytime so long you've got water
Using the Yam miniset technique, do I have to allow the yam sprout first before transplanting to the bag or just have it planted directly to the bag without it been sprouted? And how many yam seed can I actually plant per bag?
Thank you very much for the information. Please when do l apply organic manure to the yam? Can yam be planted in the month of June? What will happen if you plant late?
Nice video but you should try and go straight to the point and not repeat the same thing over again before you land the point. Short videos get more hits.
Start applying 5 - 6weeks after planting. Sometimes some yams sprout faster than others. So put that into consideration as well. Meaning all your yams may not be ready for fertilizer application at the same time.
Yes you can cut yams as seedlings for planting. The smaller the seedlings, the smaller the tubers you are going to get. So I advice you not to cut your seedlings too small.
Wood ash consist of mainly 10% potassium and about 1% of phosphorus. Other nutrients such as Nitrogen which the yam needs is not present in wood ash. Inasmuch as you may use it, it may not yield the best result.
kudos to you madam, Am not the lecturer, but with my idea in farming. it is good to allow the yam shoot out, then allow it till after three to four months for the leave to grow up holding stick you peg, then you start applying the fertilizer as rightly showing in this video. Thank,
@@13tv68 okay. Thanks. But I really have a question outside yam. I planted vegetable pumpkin in sac. The color of the leaves is not all that greenish. I sensed deficiency in Nitrogen, so I apply Poultry manure on it last week. Yet i haven’t seen improvement
@@obiloragrowtech Were the bags positioned properly in ways they can get enough sunlight? Make sure you added enough poultry manure and observe it over time. Just a few days not enough to see the change.
