Hey everyone, it's great to be back here! It's been a while, but I've been thinking about going live more often on this channel. I believe it's a fantastic way to connect, share ideas without the heavy editing, and just have a real conversation.
As many of you know, I'm a self-employed tinnitus coach. That means I spend my days working solo, managing not just this channel and my podcast, but also our online community at MyTinnitusClub. It's a labor of love, though I do get some help from freelancers now and then for technical stuff.
Looking ahead to 2024, my goal is to focus less on flashy video formats and more on sharing valuable insights. You see, since 2019, I've had the privilege of working with over 500 individuals struggling with tinnitus. My approach isn't about quick fixes or unproven remedies you might find online. It's about something deeper.
Let me explain. Tinnitus isn't just about the sound itself; it's about our emotional response to it. It's like getting bitten by a dog-if it happens once, you're cautious around dogs forever. Similarly, once tinnitus starts bothering us, we Google it, read horror stories, and our fear grows. That fear feeds into a cycle of anxiety and stress, making the tinnitus seem louder and more overwhelming.
But here's the key: tinnitus doesn't have to control us. Through a process called habituation, we can change our response to tinnitus. It's not easy, but it's possible. It's about learning that tinnitus is just a sound-it's our reaction that matters most.
I speak from personal experience-I've had tinnitus for 15 years. Even with a hearing aid and a loud tinnitus, I've learned to live without fear. It's not about masking the sound temporarily; it's about rewiring our brains to see tinnitus differently.
That's where acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) comes in. It's a powerful tool I use with my clients to help them reshape their relationship with tinnitus. We're not just masking symptoms; we're addressing the root cause of our distress.
In my community and coaching sessions, we dive deep into these strategies. Whether it's through weekly coaching, online courses, or our supportive community at MyTinnitusClub, I'm committed to helping others find peace with their tinnitus.
If you're struggling with tinnitus, know that you're not alone. There are effective ways to manage it, and I'm here to guide you through them. Together, let's work towards a life where tinnitus doesn't hold us back.
Stay tuned for more live streams and updates. And if you're interested in learning more, check out my website or join our community. Let's take this journey towards tinnitus relief together."

Makes sense. Hearing is normal up to 8000hz. Quiet rooms are the worst. Ringing static noise. Plus Hyperacusis.

I totally agree with this video, I was thinking the same thing. In the same way that you shouldn't aLwaYs run to medicine every time you catch a cold, in order to let your body build immunity, sometimes you want to let your ears and brain "build immunity" to T by not always going for masking. What if the power grid goes out, what if you leave your phone/masking machine somewhere and you're without it, etc.? You have to learn to let your own body build a natural defence to it.
