This is how I am attaching my decks to the frame. A little tricky connecting the wood to the aluminum

Cool video I inherited a 14 ft valco know nothing about boats so appreciate the videos, first I've seen hope you have others about transom, engine size, attach frame to boat, aluminum repair! haha

haha well unfortunately, i won't need to do any work to my transom, i am not putting an engine on this boat just a trolling motor (i fish electric only lakes) and my aluminum repair was done by a local welder haha. check out mikes channel and outlaw garage and restoration's channel (link in description) if you haven't already because they have some good videos out that might help you in those areas

I know your done at this point but what about tapping the aluminum for a larger stainless screw, I am an electrician and at our whole sale house "platt" "eoff" we can buy a greenlee tapping drill bit set which taps a 6-32 all the way through a 1/4 20 screw awesome to have for stripped out situations.

Hello i how well did the hold because it’s one of the only videos that i found who explain how to attach a wooden deck to an aluminium frame 😅 so how well did it held?

It lasted for a little while. Some spots held better than others. I would use bigger self tappers next time or longer rivets

Is the paint still sticking on the rivets paint usually dont adhere to aluminum to well?

Hey man, I love your detail, but I was wondering how you were going to power your on-board LED strips? Do you have a battery? And is it recharged automatically by your motor or do you have to recharge it on land? Thanks!

ill be going over a lot of this really soon, but long story short for now its all powered by a battery. this is going to be for electric only lakes so i won't have an outboard on it

briljant way to do it:) but did you used closed or the one with a hole in the middel? because I guess the one with the hole in the middel will have problems with water comming trough..

Thank you! No, i didn't. i should have though. i don't have any type of water catch system in my frame like i should, when all this was started i never thought about it. so I'm already expecting some water to get inside which kinda sucks but hopefully it won't be much. i might put a little silicone on the rivet head to help out

I can't remember if you said it in one of your video's but you could just put a pump in the lowest part of the boat, if you think there might be some water in the boat you could put the pump on.

another way to hide screws is to trim some of the carpet from the backing with scissors put a drop of super glue on the screw head and put the carpet fibers on it. Done right almost invisible results.

hey man, i build race cars- they make exploding large head rivots (head is about the size of a penny)that should not back out and are great if the holes ever oval or have been drilled a million times will still grab, also on the rivots and screws, rubber washers may work out good for keeping the water out. Also when you can get to the back of the rivots use a 3/16 washer on the other side.(makes them super strong and wont pull through the aluminum. Your videos have inspired me- keep it up! buying a jon boat tomorrow and already got a ton of new ideas for it, thanks. I will probably be using slightly more aluminum (my wife and I are metal fabricators) much easier for us to work with- still going to incorporate some wood though.

oh- and if you have a compressor - a pneumatic rivitor may be your new best friend

Thank you for the tips! i wish i wasn't so far along in my project or else i would try them out. i will keep it in mind incase this fails faster than i anticipate haha. I can't wait to see what you come up with if your a metal fabricator...should be amazing. please please please if you can post some pics at tiny boat nation on Facebook, I'm sure we all would love to see your progress!
