Thanks for all the pro tips. There are a couple of things which i noticed with the Oscar ii. 1. There are actually holes on the dispersion screen and when you put it back, aligning it differently produces different water results. 2. I noticed when back flushing with the blind basket for 10secs actually cause some leakage like dripping from the group head which might be due to the high pressure. 3. Often heard that the pressure is set pretty high at factory which is close to 15 bars as opposed to the ideal 9 bars; thus causing channeling or potential cracking puck. Any tips on these? Perhaps an OPV kit? Bypass valve? Looking forward to another excellent sharing and reply. Cheers...

Thank you for the great tip! Yes this machine does come at a higher factory pressure and would benefit from an OPV as long as it won’t void any warranties you have. In addition to upgrading the portafilter, basket, and screen you have the ability to see much better shots. If the blind basket is leaking perhaps just tighten that portafilter or it could need a gasket change, though you’re most likely correct that it’s the high pressure. Thanks for watching!

Hi there! Any tips for cleaning the steam wand more than just flushing it and cleaning after use? :)

We recommend getting a steamwand cleaner to soak your wand in. Some people do this every night but at least once a week should help. You can also remove the steam tip (generally with your hand if it’s cool or something grippy) and ensure there is no built up residue. Thanks for the great question!

I have trouble when backflushing my osca 2. Portafilter got stuck and it was exploding when I removed after the first 10 secs. 1. Should I remove the shower screen before insert the portafilter into grouphead? 2. Is it common to explode if I dont remove the shower screen? Thank you

You should be able to backflush with the screen in or out so that shouldn’t be what’s causing the problem. How old is the machine? It sounds like it may need a new gasket if it’s leaking and you have the portafilter with blind basket very tightly inserted. Also you are inserting the portafilter tightly, then engaging the water for ten seconds, stopping, and then removing the portafilter?

If it's exploding sounds like the solenoid valve may not be working. This releases pressure into drip tray so when you remove grouphead the built up pressure is gone and hence no explosions. If it's not happening when you pull a shot normally don't worry
