In this case you should consider the depth. Imagine you are feeding with the spomb. When it lands, the feed goes directrly below the spot. When casting the rig, depending on the depth, it lands some distance back to you.

Right up until near the end of the video I was like “c’mon Carl, make sure you stand in the exact same spot - Carl is a top angler and mixes with the big boys and hold his own so just listen to him and you can’t go wrong. Just imagine if you do all your leading around to get a clean drop and clipped found your spots (especially on weedy or silty lake beds) then stand 2’ to the left or indeed back, your rig could potentially be sat on top of a weed bed or plugged into silt, so in effect you’re not “fishing, you’re camping 😂

Great video and good for beginners. I don't think your actually fishing accurately if your spombing over the top as the spombed bait will be past your hook bait as no consideration for swing back of the lead compared to the spomb landed on top of the water.

I think he is fishing in shallow waters so in his case there is no need to give more wraps to the rod he's fishing with since it will be nearly in the same square as his feed, if you fish in deep waters defnitely helps giving more line to the fishing rod.

@kevinwinter7050
@kevinwinter7050 2 года назад
In most depths, at any sort of distance, it's negligible and it's best to ignore it. At worst, your hookbait will be on the nearside of the bait, which isn't a bad thing anyway. In deeper water, especially at shorter range, it can make a difference. The solution is easy, use a separate marker float rod, clip it up to the same distance and pop it up. This puts your rig and marker lead on the same spot, with the marker directly above. Now, clip up the sold rod, cast to the float, and if it goes too far, you can adjust.

@SPS_survivor

There’s a lot of controversy surrounding this subject, I never really worry too much unless I’m fishing big French lakes where I’m using the bait boat (cheating) is what I used to think 😂 - massive edge for getting your rig under huge overhanging trees etc … but if I’m fishing open water and still using the boat and maybe fishing in a hole or deeper channel that the fish may patrol at 15-20’ I may put my spod rod out in the boat with just a lead attached. Clip it up when the boat stops, then perhaps take off 6’ and put your spomb on for baiting up while your 2-3 rods are out so you don’t have to keep putting piles of bait over the top (yes there’s many boats like mine with a kind of spiral in the hopper which kicks the bait out around your spot. However, I like to keep the distance relatively the same and a few spombs around the baited spot so it’s all not in one tight patch they may trigger the fish to think “eh up lads. I wouldn’t eat that” but just do whatever YOU feel comfortable with doing. You could listen to 10 or more anglers that will all offer you different options and you will fry your brain. For smaller waters like where Carl was fishing I wouldn’t adjust anything as it’s probably only 6-8 foot deep. Just be confident and tight lines guys and girls …

It's not landing in the same place, your spomb/spod is ejecting the bait on the surface, your rod is clipped up the same but by the time your lead hits the bottom it's arced back towards you, depending on depth of water you can be several meters out. Should have used a marker float at the distance you've clipped the rod and set the spomb/spod at the distance of the float.
@victorgodthelp8910
@victorgodthelp8910 Год назад
You are making a fallacy by clipping both reels at the same distance. Especially in deeper water, the feed will lie much further than the hookbait. Because the spomb doesn't have to travel down with the same amound of line out, but your hookbait will.
