Loved the video. I didn’t realize it was so part intensive. However it does look good. Looking forward to understand how to attach it to base plates. 😅
What happened to the first posting of this video? I happened to be on my phone when you posted it, I clicked right away and gave it a 👍right away. After the video was over I noticed there was no thumbnail image in my queue and that the video was "private".
Exactly what I was looking! Thanks for this! Redoing my entire city because my trains were becoming to intrusive as the city grew. I was wondering how I’d manage the curves…
What is the grey track color called on the lego website? "Medium stone grey"? I don't want to buy a whole lot of ballast parts and it be he wrong color!
This is exactly how I ballast mine. I look forward to the pin video because I have not figured that out. There’s not many videos out there that show you how to pin the track.
There is a mistake in this video that is never pointed out. When you go through second one and have it complete without the tile then try to tile it, it will not work correctly. the creator fixes the issue before putting the 1x1 tiles on.
Maybe, this is ctually a build standard that was started by penn lug. There are a lot of other ways to do it as well. Some even use 1x2 and 2x4 tiles for the sleepers also.
Fun fact: lego only makes 1 curved track piece. It is the R40 track which stands for “radius 40 studs”. All other curved track are not official lego pieces. To get a larger radius, Lego wants you to use the flex track.
This is awesome content. There’s a lot of aspiring Lego enthusiasts on RU-vid who would definitely find value in this, including me. I don’t even have train tracks but love to learn for when I do.
For the first ballast, you show how you assemble it, but then your completed example is assembled differently. It looks like the larger angled plates you are using for the finished example are the mirrored (54383) to the ones you use in the building example (54384). Around 3:54, you can see both in frame, and the studs don't line up the same.
I just ran into the problem. I assembled my railroad track right now, but it's not working. I'm build what Bevin told me to build, but if I can't the 1x1 tiles. 😱
Plates and plate modifieds were on one way it the first part and reversed direction when the tiles were placed one. Didn't noticed until I came back to the video because my 1x4 and didn't match up to the studs on the outside of the rails.
Hello Daryl! I really enjoy this type of videos/tutorials, I've made something more simple for my train layout, direct from track to tile on curves, and plates directly to track on straights. A little cheaper but the end result is very satisfatory, the main goal was to fix the tracks to baseplates, so, looking forward to the video where you show how to pin them! Thank you
I love this video!! You know I am interested in expanding then train tracks in my little LEGO City. So, this is a timely and very interesting video. Thanks fir taking the time to make it!!!
As of now my curved tracks are only attached at the ends but this causes the tracks to bend a little on the outer ridge halfways. Don't you have that issue? I will try to find a solution and will let you know what worked for me :)
Sometimes yes it does bend up but it's so slight its not noticeable. I have a image of all the pin locations that can be made for attaching tracks that I'll post on community tabs.
