I don't know if someone already said this but whenever I watch your videos I feel you're like the Bob Ross of Morrowind. Instead of showing us how to easily paint you show us how to easily make a viable character from the get-go and make it our own. Also the chill vibes. Great vids! I just subscribed
An Altmer Battlemage has been my go to for both Oblivion and Morrowind since I first played one on Skyrim. I used a similar strategy to defeat Gaenor, except for using hungers instead of bonewalkers to bypass his incredibly high evasion rate (along with a crap ton of other daedra to maximize DPS). Great video as always :D
This came out at the perfect time! Playing Morrowind for the first time ever, and loving it. I've been messing around with different character builds in the beginning so I can find one I'll be happy going to endgame with, and Battlemages are super cool as a concept, so here I am.
I made a Breton Battlemage as well. I use long swords though. I just got the boots of blinding speed and made a 1 pt levitate for 60 secs spell so i just zoom around in the air slaying cliff racers before they can blink and slinging spells at rats. It's pretty sick, I gotta think of some new spells to make.
Awesome build! I like using Blunt Weapon with mage characters as well, it even fits with "pure" mages so that your staff isn't useless when it runs out of charge.
looks very fun tbh I'll have to give this built a run. love your energy and charisma too. you know how to make these things ( mechanics and strategies that many people would find boring) very entertaining. that's a rare skill
seeing this channel grow since i was in my last MW phase a year ago is very nice to see. glad you're still playing this flawless game. im going from my fallout phase into a MW one myself. maybe ill beat the game for the first time since starting it 15 years ago! and with this class
Subbed kinda recently and was wondering when this video was going to drop!! Thank you Coffee, I greatly enjoyed your Spellsword build as well, it inspired me to want to play this game again after playing it as a child on my original Xbox like 20 years ago!!
Youre the best morrowind channel brother, i say drop more deep dives but ik these videos cant be easy to record/edit. Respect If you ever decide to explore/explain Oblivion, youre the channel I'm gonna watch🤝
I finally got into Morrowind after watching your videos. Coming from skyrim and then oblivion, the dice rolls made me give up early in playthroughs a good 5 times or so. Your videos helped me get over the early game hump and now I feel so immersed in this fantastic world. Thank you!
I started a battlemage playthrough a couple weeks ago but I'm focusing exclusively on Tamriel Rebuilt. I went with an Orc and the default Battlemage class, tho. I love your enthusiasm and excitement; your channel is one of my favorites and it deserves way more views than what it has. I subscribed on two accounts even. I'd kick some money your way if I wasn't going through a bankruptcy atm
Coffenut thanks for make that great service to morrowind community, you inspire me to make videos from that game in portuguese because have low channels doing that here in brazil, im with 1 video of spellarcher build that im editing and soon i will make audiobook of morrowind books in portuguese too, thanks so much
This is so amazing. I always found Morrowind a bit inaccessible. So help me the RNG at the start? Death by MUDCRAB!! I'M A BLOODY ORC! HOW! Anyway I'm mimicking these builds and getting so much more out of the game. Finally that money I spent 22 years ago on the original game is worth it. I mean I came from Arena and Daggerfall which were essentially spreadsheets with graphics. Anyway, this Irish Gen Xer is subscribed :)
I was going to watch this anyway but it doesn’t hurt that you opened with a sneak peek of the time honored test of any build: killing gaming’s most OP homeless man.
In Morrowind, you do the exact inversion of me with my Breton, I choose Combat as specialization then for favorite attributes Agility and Intelligence. Agility to I hit more and get knocked down more and intelligence for more magicka. Major Skills: Long Sword, Mysticism, Conjuration, Destruction, Restoration Minor Skills: Light Armor, Short Blade, Alteration, Block, Heavy Armor Birth Sign depending on my mood: Mage or Atronach Restoration levels slow and is good against undead so it really helps to have it in the major skills group. Restoration allows you to heal between fights allows you to carry far less potions. I never use enchanting skill, I only use the enchanted items I find.
Fun Tip: If your feeling confident(the quest can be cheesed) get the mace of molag bal. Not as strong as the recommended mace but absorbs fatigue and magicka making you be able to cast more spells.
Here's a video idea: Propylons explained/ guide. There's plenty of short little guides that show you where to get all the indexes, but none of them are narrated and voiced as to explain any of the lore or the why to them? If I remember right I think they are an additional Fast Travel network but for obvious reasons left unused? I'm too lazy to do the research and just want to listen to you talk about it! Lmao! I've always just used Mark and recall to Scamp Trader in Caldera and then go to the various routes from the Mage Guild guide, but I'm curious if Propylons might be able to add a benefit to a fast travel Network, or if it's just a wild goose chase?
Gaenor is now a permanent fixture in Mournhold. His regeneration prevents his death from hunger, but his strength never recovers. He lacks the power to even speak at this point. All refer to him as the Ebony Statue now
Now I really wanna do a more melee slanted version with the orc, inspired by the mystic knight from Dragon's Dogma. A mace-and-board warrior with spells for utility and CC. This might be my que to try that max difficulty run I've been thinking about.
Savior's Hide,Necromancer's Amulet,Mentor's Ring and The Silver Spear Greed from the Telvanni Vaults in Vivec are Excellent options for Breton Mage characters. With the Breton inate 50 pts resist plus Savior's Hide your at 110 pts of resist magic plus atronach 50 pts absorb Magic coupled with Necromancer amulet and the spear Greed you have 95 pts Spell Absorb.
After playing every Elder Scrolls game multiple times I sort of settled on my Artificer Battlemage build, put everything into physical warrior stats, take Alchemy and Enchanting to turn my Armor into basically Megatron. Breton is always the best BM choice obviously
you know, i think an amazing race that people dont consider for battlemages is the NORD. think about it, with a nord, with the lady birthsign, and endurance as one of your starting attributes, you will start the game with 85 endurance. that's almost maxed health gains from the start of the game. add to that their natural immunity to cold, resistance to shock. and the dragon cuirass giving immunity to fire, you can make yourself incredibly resilient against elemental damage. the best part is, the lady also gives 25 to personality, which is one of the bigger drawbacks of picking nord. and it invert you from starting with the 30, to 55. of course, there's a big reason people dont think of the nord as a good option, since they are too melee focused. but i genuinely think, that's not as much of a drawback as people think. outside ofthe low inteligence, that does really suck.
My Morrowind no longer has a cursor, like in menus and such. I think maybe a windows update caused bugged it out. Have you experienced this before, or have any ideas? Epic video as well!
First thing that showed up on a Google search said to try Windowed Full-screen Mode, sometimes morrowind doesn't like normal full screen or high resolution settings which can mess with the menus and your cursor.
@@nicholausstevens1262I have tried that, along with changing my resolution, and the DPI scaling fix. What is interesting is that OBS can see my cursor, it just isn't rendering in game. I am using OpenMW btw. Thank you for the tip to try!
Since you are on OpenMW maybe you pressed the button that hides the cursor, idk what it is on keyboard but on controller if on a menu or inventory you click on the left stick of the controller it makes go away or come back, maybe try that?
@@MurkyConspiracy yea do what the otherguy said. Hit all your function keys and stuff that isn't bound to anything. You'll find which button it is eventually and have your cursor back.
@@bradleevelez9001 @nicholausstevens1262 I have tried all of the function keys and every other button on the keyboard in menu a few times. I have an xbox one controller plugged in. The PC recognizes it but OpenMW doesn't seem to like it as an input. I can control the game or menus. I tried the left click stick with it but it didn't do anything (guessing because it isn't using the controller). I am trying to get the controller to work now as this seems like a good lead!
Just getting back into the game in 20 years because I saw a neat lore video. My question is, can I use console commands or something to give my slave gear?
I cant watch the video because I haven't played Morrowind in about 15 years and do not want to remember anything because I plan on playing very soon. Awesome video though
I always struggle between Breton battle mage or Breton Witch hunter. They couldn't be any more opposite in terms of play style (staying on the magic side of the game that is). I love both and I struggle to choose.
Love the shoutout to the orcs being great battlemages. Female orcs in particular have literally no weaknesses when it comes to combat, be it with weapons or magic.
This dropped 2 weeks ago? I'm sorry I just saw it on my feed...it's almost the houses didn't want me to see it. I was busy honoring the tribe unmourned, and getting dumped
I personally wouldn't go Conjuration for a Battlemage. Maybe the exception would be "Bound item" spells. Something about using minions is just not Battlemage / Bloodrager etc enough. Such a character should have focus on combat(Weapon + Heavy Armor ... ideally Axe or Blunt + HA), Destruction spells(well, ofc) and Enchant. And, TWO HANDED WEAPONS! That's what a BM is to me. Then again, it could run afoul of being kinda similar to a Spellsword. I tend to go more Magic heavy on a BM(it is a mage with a help of combat) while a Sword is the other way around(combatant with a help from spells).
@@David_Alvarez77 Going by TES, yes. Don't get me wrong, his class is perfectly fun, but that is a Sorcerer, not a Battlemage. A bit more combat oriented Sorc, but Sorc nonetheless.
The first time I played Morrowind, I played as a Dark Elf but every single time I have played Elder Scrolls since I play as a female Breton for the speed boost even though sex only matters in Morrowind. I don't know habbit I guess, and in skyrim vanilla it matters even less which race you take.
Should have chosen Endurance and Spear instead of Strength and Blunt. Heavy Armor and Spear both function off of Endurance. Pumping Endurance higher is more survivability.
assuming this is on default difficulty slider and Gaenor really damaged to zero Strength, which he's now dealing half as much as the base damage of his weapon, so I guess between damage of 1 to 18 per hit lmao
