I think The Thing is a scarier concept, considering that it can blend in with FULL KNOWLEDGE of the victim's life and environment, with the added urge to assimilate and reproduce, and the ability to manipulate its body and biology in anyway it sees fit. Even then, it'll probably only shapeshift when it needs to reproduce, or to defend itself.

Identifying the clones was never the real problem. With only a brief conversation you can very reliably tell who's a clone and who's not. The problem is that there are simply too many clones to ever fight back.

The percentage of people that have plastic surgery that would be noticeable is very small. Also even if you did run into a person that lost their plastic surgery you wouldn't put the idea of an alien invasion together fast enough. Its not just about convincing yourself. My biggest issue with this is how the clone would be allowed to just walk through the streets completely naked without anyone noticing. Like assuming they were in a heavily populated city with no coverage from the forest, I don't see how they could reliably get to their targets without being stopped by police or strangers.

Smart doctors around the world would : A: Test for EVERYTHING althou that takes time B: Make a DNA test as it is part of EVERYTHING. But to suggest that doctors should and would run DNA analysis of a random ass bug bite is so astoundingly stupid, it boggles the mind. B) "Make a DNA test as it is part of everything". What? I literally can't even understand your rambling. Are you saying that 1) we have database of the DNA sequence of every patient who visits, and 2) that we test for that with every patient? Eyy I'm making a video game where you basically play a creature the thing. Could you include a brief mention on what a body snatcher might do if they could absorb the brains and gain the mental skills of any human it came in contact with?
