While fighting the Unbidden, you'll want as many shields as possible while using anti shield or shield ignoring weapons. They have little evasion and no point defence, so Kinetic artillery, missiles and strikecraft can work well.
@ImmanuelCan
@ImmanuelCan 2 года назад
True, you can kind of get by with any specialized weapon. Best to specialize is Kinetics usually. Strikecraft are also doing nicely for the penetration aspect, unfortunately you cannot fill ships with strikecraft.

Might want to skip laser, plasma and neutron launchers though, unless you're exclusively fighting them in pulsars or during storms. The latter of which only in the effected systems. XD

Yeah these are.. just crap. There should be beacons to lure the Unbidden to the affected systems. It would be cool to use them as traps :D

Threw my 200k fleet at the unbidden portal since it spawned very close. I fended off one 70k fleet after another until eventually the 170k fleet showed up and gave the finishing blow. After about 15 minutes and thinking i was screwed the awakened fallen empire showed up and decked the unbidden all the way to their portal. Now im gonna invade them for stealing my kill xD

Nice story! Sometimes it's better to be lucky :D But you had a good fleet there, just for attacking the portal outright, you might need a little more as you have noticed. Locking them in and containing them, then nibbling away at them, has always been my method. But surely yours was the much more brave way :)

The unbidden spawned one system from my capital (Earth) and immiediately bombed it into to the ground, along with my colony on mars and most of my core worlds. I could've prevented this if I wasn't in a war on the other side of the galaxy. Either way I beat their ass as soon as my fleets arrived.

Awesome video. I wound up, in a single player game, having them show up in a neighbor's system. I collected my fleets and jumped as close as I could to the rift system, and then stormed into it. By then they had moved their initial fleets out and were taking the neighbor's systems. I had a nice fight with the rift guardians and took out them and the station there. Then I sat half my fleets in that system to guard my back, and used the rest to follow up behind the Unbidden. Slowly I retook all the systems the other empire had and claimed them as my own with my construction ships. I tend to build my ships heavy on kinetics anyway, especially keeping Corvettes throughout with stormfire canons and high evasion. The rest of my fleets I slowly replace the destroyers and cruisers with battleships. I do mix in some carrier battleships but mostly just do the heavy battleships with all large and x-large weapons. I really got lucky with where they spawned as it was near a natural wormhole in my empire and I went right to that to protect my empire and had quick access to the rift system. In our MP game last night, my hive mind has about 10 - 100k fleets at the moment or so, and my ally (human friend) is next door to me and he is way behind me in tech and fleet size and composition. He just finished a long war, I had finished mine against a fallen empire that had awoken and was getting itself ready to attack. I pre-emptively attacked it before it could go ham on us, and just finished upgrading all my ships with the dark matter tech I got off their wrecks. The Unbidden just appeared in my friend's empire, and we saved and called it for the night before anything happened. So this video is great in helping me be better prepared to attack the Unbidden. I think I will change over what isn't already kinetic to even more kinetic and add in as many shields as I can fit in each ship. Then I plan on jumping as close as I can to the rift and taking that system. Then hopefully we can both work on cleaning up the fleets that are left while my other fleets hold the rift system.

Really cool stories man! Glad I could help you with the infos. There should be absolutely everything in. The only thing that has changed is that you can now see the Dimensional Anchor stations of the Unbidden marked on the map. Very handy! Good strategy for your MP game. You should be able to do it, even though it can be harsh if the Unbidden appear directly in your - or your friend's empire. All the best and good luck for defeating the Unbidden :)

I am on my fist Stellaris play through and I think I’m low key fucked. Here is why: The Unbidden spawn next to me(like 10 systems from my capital), my total fleet power is about 150k - ish and about 30k of that is cut off from the rest of my empire (integration or whatever it’s called), and the Unbidden’s fleet power is about 70k per fleet with one fleet that is 170k. Also just realized that important parts of my tech tree are underdeveloped. And tips for how to get out of this situation?
@ImmanuelCan
@ImmanuelCan 2 года назад
Hey there! First congrats on getting so far in your first playthrough, pretty good. Then, all hope is not lost: If you can, refit your ships to one of the shipbuilds I show in the video, by far best is the kinetic one. If you have used auto-best ships so far, it will be a big improvement against the Unbidden. Even more important than weaponry is to have a defensive setup with mainly shields. From your fleet strength, you should even be able to beat the big fleet, but definitely the smaller fleets on their own which is what you should try to get done. Only do one vs one fleet battles - fleet vs station or fleet vs small fleet etc, then back out, repair, refill. Try slowly moving your 30k fleet back to your empire. You might have Jump Drives so you can jump distances where handy hyperlane connections are missing to reconnect. You'll find the jump button as a jump arc arrow right on top of the fleet interface. It's quite small, so hard to miss. If you can avoid fights, using occasional jumps to shorten the journey will speed it up very well. You'll get a 50% debuff on weapons and speed for 200 days on the ships but to reconnect, it's worth it. Make sure to watch the diplomacy and containment strategies part of the video to know what to defend as a priority and how to get support from AI empires as an addition. Defending will need a lot of moving back and forth and map checking at first until you get the hang of it and maybe fill the tech gaps you mentioned. But you have a good chance to be successful! Unbidden and monster fleet strengths are generally a bit bloated so even if they show the same fleet strength as your fleet, their specific weaknesses mean they will not be equal to your fleets of the same strength at all, at least if you handcraft the designs. Last of all, make sure to save the game before playing on so you can give yourself a little reloading leeway to try out different moves and learn a lot. Please tell how it goes and don't hesitate to ask if further problems arrive. All the best and Happy Gaming :-)

@@ImmanuelCan Thank you for the help, I'll give updates on how it goes. Also since I am nearing the end of this playthrough (year 2440-ish), do you have recommendations on what kind of empire I should play next. Or whether I should make my own, and if so what traits I should choose.
@ImmanuelCan
@ImmanuelCan 2 года назад
Hey there, nice to hear! Creating own empires is great fun in Stellaris, especially if you know your general favorite playstyle, like.. do you like to tech much? Do you like war? .. you can tailor your empire to your playstyle to have a very fun experience and learn quickly. Then, there are the United Nations of Earth, which have a couple of own events scripted for them as an extra. All the Premade empires also definitely have a good concept behind them that you can enjoy to execute, but it can be hard to grasp instantly how to play them. The most fun is going for something you imagine would be great to play for you and would fit your playstyle. Experiment with it. You don't really need to optimize every little thing in Stellaris. You can do it, but it's more rewarding to go for an interesting idea, a great roleplay, a fun concept instead of playing perfectionism. Try to play your best with an empire that suits your style. I love to play tech empires, so I often go for that.. and there are many ways to play technological empires in Stellaris, too many to try all of them :D Even more different ways for war-based empires, trade empires, diplomatic empires, spy empires, ... - make something and try it out, give it a good try, try to play that cool idea of yours to your best effort and see what unfolds... Happy Gaming and looking forward to you beating the Unbidden :)

0:28 Technically end game crisis can only spawn 50 years after end game time. But Unbidden have a special modifier that lets it spawn up to 50 years earlier if any empire has jumpdrives. And since the Ai will not hesitate researching those, there will ALWAYS be jumpdrives about somewhere. Thus we only see Unbidden spawn...

Yes, the Unbidden are a plague now. The odds have been further skewed.. they have I think always been the most common Endgame Crisis, due to Jump Drives.

The Unbidden just spawned for me, and I'm very scared. I'm in a federation with a bunch of AI, and my biggest fleet in around 80k, and all together, is about 180k. I'm on commodore and like a 2x difficulty. They spawned pretty far away, but I'm scared if I don't handle them fast I'll just lose. How should I salvage this?
@ImmanuelCan
@ImmanuelCan Год назад
Hey there! The Unbidden have quite changed a bit since this video however what they do still holds. Find out what kind of strength their fleets have and only engage them when you have around the same fleet strength. If that is the case, and you made your ships with a lot of shields and anti-shield weaponry, you should have a good advantage and not lose many ships doing this. You can stall the Unbidden quite a bit if you snipe their stations and constructors away, so it's good to build your ships with Afterburners so you can pick your fights (they are still very slow compared to speed built ships). Better use massive ships with a lot of shields still, these hold out best against the Unbidden. After a while (if you're not affected personally), you will gain some of their technologies from the battle debris. Depending if these are good against shields or not you should include them (the weapons aren't as good against shields afaik, so don't use these) - but the energy supply and the Unbidden shield technology should be Dark Matter shields, a whole tier above what you can research. Then, after you do some snipes on their fleets and stations and always avoiding fights that you do not pick (also avoid wormhole or L-Gate systems to fight), you will eventually gain an edge on their fleets. At this point the speed builds help you catch up and snipe more and more and eventually you will be able to confront the Unbidden spawn points and get rid of them completely. Also try to get the Galactic Community to focus on the Unbidden, that will also help to slow them down! All the best, your Immanuel Can

I only have 50k fleets how can I kill unbidden 200k
@ImmanuelCan
@ImmanuelCan 2 года назад
A good question. It's possible if you reach 100k-120k to kill a 200k fleet. So you need multiple fleets or you can try to activate the little three triangles on the top of the selected fleet's UI - that will sometimes cause your allies to send fleets and attach it to yours. Might be enough to get a good fleet strength then. Try to become federation leader and gain control of the federation fleet. Try to get the Galactic Council to Focus on the Unbidden and get the helpful fleet enhancement decisions. Use strategic resources to gain buffs for your ships (in edicts menu) to increase their strength. Use edicts to get more naval capacity, faster ship building. For now I would try to destroy stations and distract the Unbidden until you have bigger fleets if 50k is the best you can do at the moment. Destroy stations until you notice them coming close to your fleet.. flee with the fleet until the Unbidden do something else.. then go back to destroy stations... repeat until you're more powerful. Be prepared to go above your naval capacity and overpay a bit if you want to fight the Unbidden. Also, be sure to use the right ship design as in the video. Use the Ascension Perk "Defender of the Galaxy" to deal fifty percent more damage to Endgame Crisis Factions. That is about all I could think of :) All the best in your fight!
