Every coach has thought about what the "other side of the fence" may look like at some point. Curiosity is an indelible part of human nature. You may have the skills you believe are required to be successful on your own, but do you know what your blind spots are? Of course that is a trick question- if you did, they would not call it a "blind-spot!" Today's video is about some key considerations that you should reflect upon before you make a jump. For more on this, be sure to check out the link for my online course VALUED which can walk you through more ways to pressure test your strategy and see if you are making a mistake, or the right choice!

I don't know how I got this video come up on my recommendations as I have no interest in becoming a S&C coach but I must say it's a great video. For anyone scrolling the comments to see if it's worth watching, great advice on here that translates to a lot of other professions. So does your advice about books. As an avid book reader for certain self-improvement topics the knowing oneself better and being able to become more aware of my weak links is something I resonate with.

I’m wrapping up my last year of PTA school. Throughout my therapy education I’ve been most interested in treatment progressions, taking a patient from debilitated to healthy and beyond, and scaling my treatments upward for those healthy individuals to bring them into fitness. Unfortunately health insurance companies don’t cover that kind of thing, so I thought that might mean I’d want to become a personal trainer or strength coach as a side gig; to give my patients a fitness option. Got any tips? Know anyone doing this kind of workflow? Thanks Brett 💪🏻

Any tips on how to live if you aren’t in the top 5% of being excellent and driven in any field? I practice classical piano for 5 hours a day, but because I’m kind of rubbish in an extrinsic way (I got great at the piano through disillusionment and avoidance of the banality of life but the wonder of music made life worth living) I’ve found myself working as a cleaner to make ends meet.. often there doesn’t seem like a bridge between pursuing excellence and (work) reality where the bridge resonates deep integrity. For me the link is completely invisible. This video kind of highlights for me a serious problem about myself, and the dilemma for lots of wonderful people living in what can seem like an alien, hostile, and possibly seemingly pointless external reality.I would kill myself if I didn’t love being alive so much.

I think it's insane to even fathom that I need to obtain a double masters degree and put myself in debt to obtain a career that won't even pay the salary I would need to pay back my college debt. If todays world is about making 2 min videos to showcase how great my personality is to separate myself from the pack of strength professionals thats really sad and something that we should learn early on in our careers in school. It's not about separating yourself from the pack as much as it is about making the criteria harder in the beginning to weed out the bad seeds to not make this field so flooded and to not put young strength coaches in debt to begin with. I got a friend who was on the Chinese Olympic team for 4 years in China away from his family and friends as a strength coach and when he came back pro athletic performance gyms asked him to obtain a masters degree to even get a entry job position. That to me is ridiculous and insulting and a waste of time. I'd rather suffer having to take a harder exam or having the criteria in the beginning stages of my career harder than having to jump through hoops like a circus clown because the field is so saturated to begin with. Thats the real problem. That would literally fix everything and make it worth your wild. We ain't getting paid a doctors salary so why would we put ourselves in debt like one?
@XXLRebel
@XXLRebel 2 года назад
Why would you need a masters degree to become stength coach? It's not THAT complicated😂 Like he said, you should essentially stick to the basics and do those really well.
