Good video! Spot on with how to bed in brakes. This is so often overlooked. I repeat this step 10 times and call it a day with or without replacing rotors. It's meant to give a smooth mating surface where the brake conforms to the surface of the rotors giving full brake contact. Good vid man!

ive replaced countless of brake pads and rotors in my life, Ive never bedded any of them ever, and they brake just fine after a few hundred km's. And the rotors/pads have lasted years with no issues.

@michaelxcx well I appreciate you letting me know that you've been doing it wrong all this time. Like I said, often overlooked. I've I've done lots of brake pads also without bedding them in, sure they work, but they would work better if you bed them in. I highly doubt the engineers at build brakes and rotors tell you to do it just so they can shave a little bit of Life off your brakes to get you to buy more. Now you know the correct procedure for most brakes. Look up the negatives to not bedding in brakes. Worth looking into as this makes your brake jobs much better. Atleast always recommend the procedure to customers if you're not going to do it yourself. It's worth it as it saves the rotors life a lot. Has saved me money this trick.

@michaelxcx Also my brake pads on my honda lasted 15 years and 150k miles, rotors are still good also. This process of bedding them in ensures the life of your brakes. Also, changing brake fluid regularly helps with lubricating the calipers. Little things can make a huge difference.

i did this exact procedure for a 2010 Corvette and found it didnt work very well. had to do it again but much more aggressively and more cycles to get the brakes fully heated up due to that car's brake cooling ducts and all around oversized brakes

Definitely need to be aggressive with the braking to get the bed-in done effectively

You obviously don't live in a city. Would have been impossible to find a deserted road. Unless you go out at like 3am in the morning and then you would look very suspicious. lol

I've bedded in many of brakes in the city at many times of the day. Just don't do it in rush hour. Not hard to get to 35 and brake without interfering with traffic.

Only if you use after market brakes.

Care to explain? And do you mean pads or rotors..or both?
@SooSmokie

Same applies to OEM brakes and rotors also. Just this step is never done and often overlooked.

Akebono biggest OE manufacturer, no “bedding in” required. If the cheap brakes you get say to do it, do it. If you buy OE new rotors and new brakes it isn’t required. Physics. Ceramic.

These are ceramic, and not cheap "no name" brand...I still feel it is a good practice, but you-do-you Boo
@SooSmokie

@pjapely You're confused, as it's just a different process. Akebeno recommends a 4-500 miles of moderate driving for the bed in process. NO Heavy braking. Brembo gran turismo, and Hawk two other major players use the process in this video or similiar to bed in brakes. All brakes and rotors have a bed in process. ALL. It's just different for different brands. Has nothing to do with cheap or good brakes, all brakes should be bed in per manufacturers recomendations, or else you will have issues whether they are minor or major.
