Nice video mate. One tip that I've used for many years is to put a bucket or so of fresh water in the engine bay mixed with detergent or car wash before you leave the boat ramp. Take the bungs out. Drive home and the fresh water will slosh around the engine bay while driving and give it a nice clean. Then do the usual spray with silicone spray/lanox when you get home.

5:40 Seadoo flush for NO LONGER than 40 seconds! (See 1:15 on previous video for results of carbon seal failure!! ) Note : Fogging is important on N/A ski's also to prevent throttle body seizure ( 1: A PWC jammed at full throttle will never end well 2: Replacement throttle bodies are ridiculously expensive!! ) I also strongly advise leaving the seat off overnight standing up against a wall or similar to allow any water in the seat foam to drain thus helping prevent mould / deterioration and also allows the bilge to air dry. Great vid!! Must watch for PWC owners!

Good Video! My only feedback would be if you store your Jetski outside (and have old seals etc like I do) do not replace the bungs, as if rainwater enters the engine area it can drain.

Very nice, to eliminate rusting out the carabiner and have them break on you during a swell at night, use the alpine butterfly knot around the anchor bag, then pass your rope through and clove hitch then half hitch each end to the front and back, the same theory but less gear to worry about and less that can go wrong, or a bowline front and back to lock her up over night

Great video. Is it okay to spray down the engine while it's hot or should you wait for it to cool first? And if you should wait how long should you wait?
@JetSkiCamping
@JetSkiCamping 4 года назад
Great question Chad! If the engine is too hot to touch I would be nervous about spraying it with cold water. This very concern is why I recommend cleaning your trailer and the outside of your ski first. It allows time for the engine to cool before spraying it down. This is especially important if you're cleaning immediately at the ramp instead of waiting until you drive home. Some may disagree, after all the engine is water cooled during operation, but you don't want to risk thermally cracking the engine block.

I use to lift the ski up to discharge any remaining water in the hull and footwells. Now, I use a wet vac to suck up all the standing water in the hull and footwells to fully dry out my ski....no more lifting. Also I use salt a way with applicator to flush engine for no more than 30 secs.
@JetSkiCamping

What a great video. I’m totally new to the world of jet skis but my partner used to work a jet ski safari in Spain. I was asking her about flushing and she said the boss never asked them to do it he said just start the engine at the end of each day when out the water and blip the throttle that’s it. This was after a 10 hour day of jet ski safari. Seems insane right!?

Wow - even Seadoo’s with closed-loop cooling should be flushed. I guess they may have been leased/rented so he wasn’t concerned with longevity. Wonder how long they lasted?

Maybe not, I watched videos on outboard motors that had over 3000 hours which were being used every day but never flushed with fresh water and never had problems. Why. They said because the corrosion can only grow when left for long periods of not being used. Which is typical family man. Not the professional using them constantly. So actually looking to buy a low hour ski or outboard could spell trouble in your cooling system if not used much.

I have 2004 900STX that I only ride in fresh water. The only time I do this is when I'm storing it for the winter. When I get home after a ride i make sure that engine compartment is completely dry. A shammy towel works great for this. Afterwards i will leave the seat off for a day or two just to make sure everything is dry. I occasionally spray everything down with silicone spray. My engine still looks and runs great.

You should never spray your engine directly with water, it can accumulate in the spark plug wells. I use a product called seafoam sf-16 on the engine lightly.

I don’t recommend to turn the engine a second time to flush the remaining fresh water specially if you ride your ski in salt water why? Because salt corrosion works best in dry areas so if you keep it moisture it will stay out of corrosion I’ve been doing this for 10 years on my ski and still running!
@JetSkiCamping
@JetSkiCamping 3 года назад
Thanks very much for sharing! What if you’re not using your ski again for several weeks - could the stagnant water cause any problems?
@arqjavierobregon
@arqjavierobregon 3 года назад
@@JetSkiCamping not at all but you can use antifreeze instead of just water, a good tip is to get a container that you can fill it with antifreeze and in some way insert in one end the water hose and in the other side of the container a connector to the inlet of your ski so the water pressure from the hose will pull the antifreeze inside the engine and all it’s components so when you see it coming out stop the water hose and turn off the engine so the antifreeze will stay inside and you will not have any problems perhaps you can make a video on this way I’ve just explain to you. Like using the salt eliminator conector but bigger. This is also very essential every time you flush your engine more in salt water as I do it every time. Another very important thing to do is if you winterize your ski for a long period of time change the oil and filter before even trying to run the engine, remember that the oil with no use changes its properties so in will block the filter and suck the oil filter and the oil will not go to the engine and you know what will happen then! I hope this was useful
@JetSkiCamping
@JetSkiCamping 3 года назад
Mate great advice. Thanks again. Living in Australia, I don’t have any experience with antifreeze! But I’m sure this will help many!
