Flowtoys collapsible staffs are made with tube connectors, which use a piece of carbon fiber and 3D-printed adaptors to connect the polycarbonate tubes together, allowing the staff to be broken down for travel and for making different length staffs.
Tube connectors are designed to be a snug fit and will loosen up over time with use. This video shows how they work and gives tips on disassembling/assembling collapsible staffs.
