This video shows how to build a 2-button foot switch controller for the Line 6 HX Stomp. You can buy them at reverb.com/ite... AND reverb.com/ite... Parts used: 1 EACH: lovemyswitches... 2 EACH: lovemyswitches... 1 EACH: lovemyswitches...
It works !!!! I had to go in the global settings of the HX Stomp because I've used an expression pedal before. Very easy and fast to make. If you want to customize very fast your pedal, use Posca pen or something similar to draw on it ;)
I don't even know what a HX Stomp is, but this is a well made video. I'm contemplating a future foot midi controller, with maybe 5+ switches and arduino.
Superb Video! Thank you so much! I just purchased everthing you mentioned from the Love My Switches. Maybe they'll give you some kick backs once people realize how easy this is to do! Cheers!
I'm not sure if it will work. this build uses momentary switches. There is a chance the amp would need latched switches to make the features stay selected Hope that helps.
how do you know if you need a normally open or normally closed. I just ordered a VHT Redline amp and would like to build a 2 button for it but I don't want to blow it up if I use the wrong switches. thanks in advance for any info that you may have on this.
Hi, I have a HX Stomp and a SUpro amp. This Footswitch shown in the video works with HX stomp because it is momentary FS but doesn't work properly with my amp because i need a 3pdt FS. Maybe for your amp you need also a 3pdt Footswitch.
The switches are basically a trigger to communicate a signal to the Stomp so the behavior of the footswitch is controlled by the Stomp firmware configuration. If they were latched switches instead of momentary, they would not be able to function for tap or scroll features.
tebantutz Reyes most passive external jacks use a similar wiring setup. But it really depends on the devise you are trying to control. Boss/Roland, for example, work better with normally closed momentary switches. Strymon carries 5v dc on one lead to enable LED for Fave switch. Even tide uses TRS jack to allow 3 foot switches instead of just 2. What devise do you have in mind?
I'm using a Multifx Nux MFX-10 I'm thinking if I can use a extension Pedal (footswitch) since it has a jack that says ext.pedal, will it work if I'll do a DIY like your footswitch, I like to work it as Up and down patch selection, do you think it will work, thanks in advance 👍
Hey Kevin thanks for the video. I tried making this FS with the same parts however it's causing my helix to continually scroll through my presets rather than a single up and down preset selection. Any ideas where I could have gone wrong? It's the same parts from lovemyswitches and everything looks set up correctly in my global settings. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
I probably would work. there is a chance the amp jack feeds a couple volts out to power LED lights in a passive switch, so a bi more research would be appropriate.
rey dialo it would work on a Boss RC-30. A little research might be needed. Some Boss devices use a Normally-Closed or “NC” foot switch for this application. So, that’s a spec to look for when buying parts.
@@josephestes7076 Yes. I did that with an H9 a while back. The 3rd foot switch for that unit is activated when you connect all three contacts (tip+ring+sleeve). It wasn't as easy to navigate on the pedalboard as having a dedicated 3rd foot switch, but that could easily be added into the design in the video (with a slightly larger enclosure). The downside with the H9 external controls is you could have EITHER footswitches OR expression. The slight advantage of the HX is it can host a single foostswitch AND an expression at the same time, which is what I am currently doing.
