Thanks again for featuring me in another video. For those who watch it I just want you to know that owning a mini is worth it no matter what I said in the video! Haha
Owner of a 2005 Cooper S here. I daily it and it’s been super reliable. Had to change steering rack a while ago and a Camshaft Sensor but other than that it’s been pretty solid. Absolutely no problems with the engine. Only issue I have with the car is the heavy steering but it seems to be a “mini thing”.
Heavy steer is definitely a mini thing. Go as may time as this thing has given me problems I still consider it reliable. Wokldnt scare me to take it on a road trip.
the comparison to the ep3 is real. i was in the market for an ep3 in 2020, and ended up getting an r53. now im in the process of selling the mini to get an ep3.
These things are bulletproof if you perform all the preventative maintenance. They're easy to work on, and there are RU-vid videos out there for pretty much every imaginable repair so you can learn to do all the work yourself. MINIs got a bad reputation because of the weak transmissions in some of the pre-05 cars, but other than that they are no less reliable than any other car. I've owned a 2005 from new and it has 150K miles on it, and everything works as it should.
The part where you don’t feel how fast your going till you look at the speedometer is tru, I was in the canyons curves hitting 80 when normally in my s10 I drive 40 max 😂😂
I owed one 2006 mini cooper s 250hp and also eg k24 250hp on the way get it done, mini is pretty fun little car, it not too hard to fix either… I mostly Honda guy but I think mini is not bad I recommend try it
These cars are built way better then Honda chassis's. All brands have a weakness especially Toyota and head gaskets or oil consumption no one likes to talk about. All the Minis I've owned just needed general maintenance
The greatest r53 mini ownership reliability hack is having head gaskets, water pumps, and eaton superchargers on stand by but I will say once you're on your 4th supercharger job it gets easier... 😅
Americans should stop evaluating every car on this planet based on how it accelerates on straight road. Take the Mini to the canyons please or to some curvy road. Mini is not a highway car. And that engine in that Mini is such a reliable engine. I'm flooring it day and night and I have no problems. Mini is a great car for enthusiast. It has some minor things that need to keep eye on. Like oil levels. You can't drive a car for a half a year without checking the oil and then saying OH IT'S UNRELIABLE.
@@aycarambaswonderful change that high-performance items for a high-performance car that cost nothing to complete after it’s provided over 100k reliably. Install water injection if you want clean valves or clean it with B12 treatment like all other manufacturers do. It requires minimum maintenance in my eyes that’s cheap easy work. Stop whining about having to change a old part that provided years of service
@AutomotiveAnatomy yes, they are fun! But always had to be fixing stuff on the motor that part was just frustrating for me, that's the reason I sold it.
